  1. It was really directed at everyone. Even the most basic things people think they may know about this situation are in question. Recall that the original report was that KP was cleared to play just prior to the OU game. Then it was reported that he was actually cleared to play in the middle of last week before the BSU game. I know people who don't believe either of those were accurate. I have multiple connections with different stories. Even people usually in the know have different opinions. The one consistency I find in all the stories is that KP's head took a hard hit to the ground that resulted in something that has been variously described as a head injury, a concussion-like injury and a concussion. Even those varying descriptions are within the context that head injuries are like snowflakes -- no two are exactly alike. Physicians who've done their best to analyze an injury that's among the most difficult to assess with a high degree of accuracy have shared their prognosis with the team, and the coaching staff is left with the final decision about when is the best time to allow KP to return to the field. There appears to be two main groups on this forum -- those who believe that it's more likely that KP suffered the type of injury where it's best to err on the conservative side and keep him out until there's no question he's 100% recovered and those who believe something funny is going on and the coach is using this as an excuse to play the backup QB who he favors over the former starting QB. Since there's not universal agreement on all the facts, there can't be agreement on the present situation and the tit for tat will go on unabated.

  2. Free tuition, huh? Considering how much it has ballooned recently, there should be 20,000 students packed into the stadium on Tuesday.

  4. Thanks for sharing Balszy. Good luck to Melo. He has represented the university very well on and more importantly off of the court. Wish the best for him. I feel like I'm beating a dead horse, but one would feel that a hometown beat reporter who is at the very least occasionally engaged with would break the news that the starting PG from the last season has left the team. Glad this board exists.

  5. Akron can make a ridiculous pro Best XI out of former players Since the mid-aughts, Akron’s been churning out quality soccer players at an incredible rate. If Akron under Ken Lolla was a regional power and nationally respectable, Akron under Caleb Porter was an out-and-out machine. Since Porter took over in 2005, the Zips have produced nine first round MLS draft picks and a handful of undrafted stars in the making. Even Porter made it to the pros... EDIT: "...the craziest thing about this lineup is every player on it has turned pro since 2010. What? Don’t forget the bench, either. This team has options. Scott Caldwell, who’s played 55 games in MLS’ best midfield over the last two years, would be a no-doubt bench player. Kofi Sarkodie is available as well, meaning you could move Yedlin up to RM, push Mattocks up top, slide Nagbe into the hole and scoot Sarkodie into the right back position. Ben Speas is a late-game option, and so too is Ben Zemanski, who filled in ably for Will Johnson and can do the same for either Kitchen or Trapp. ..."

  6. It's not like the status of a players' health is some mystery everywhere else in the country. Bottom line: GT doesn't have a single tweet about Zips FB since the Ball St game. He is doing the bare minimum to get by as a beat reporter for Akron Zips football. He doesn't want to cover us. He had a whole 3 updates during the game last week. Two of them were saying the exact same thing and one of them was about the announcers. He provides zero substance for the fan base that he is working for. This post is harsh, but it's the truth. We deserve better coverage.
