  1. Frankly, I don't believe the injuries to Pohl, belief is all WE have here, has had much if anything to do with the problems for the last 4 games. Pohl isn't the QB to run the system Bowden wishes he could run. One problem seems to be that Bowden/Milwee seem to be trying to force the offense to to do what it has not been capable of doing consistently for 2 seasons. No, Pohl may not be welcomed back next year. But I do know what I saw last year. Akron committed to running the ball to try to open up the passing game. That was because Pohl couldn't handle Bowden's offense,AND because injury slowed him down even more. The decisions about personnel are the responsibility of the head coach...period. Its a bit late at this point to suddenly state that that 'going 2-0 is critical'. At this point it would be nice. But,the important decisions will be made after 11-25-2014.

  2. That's a shame too, because he probably could have caught 5 or 6 passes a season here.

  3. Hint - when he left, he shuffled.

  4. OK ..... Want to get all you veteran fans opinions. I have looked through Coach Bowdens 2 signing classes (2013 and 2014) and also looked at the films of each. As much as everyone has lost faith in this years team and where the program is or is not headed, I truly believe that the talent level in these two classes is without doubt a dramatic step up in talent from what I see on the field in the upper classman. I think that this is pretty important to look at as it does show the opportunity upcoming for the program And although the 2015 class is kind of up in the air, the commits seem to be in the same mold as the first two signing classes ... The transfers sitting out that are eligible next year seem to be studs, as long as the attitudes are in check Another year I know, another disappointment ..... alot of hype and expectation shot down. BUT, hope should still be alive (LOL) O-line and D-line appear to have been addressed ...... D-line weight average is about 272 (of the recruits) and appear quick on film (LOL, the dog I have in the hunt committed for 2015 is at 250 lbs and hopes to be at 260 when he comes in June) Couple of bigger receivers ..... Let's hope they can catch A little bit bigger at corner and safety ...... Let's hope they are physical !! Just some thoughts over coffee while searching for some positives for you guys !!!!

  5. Still think it was Anthone Taylor that got the coach fired? I saw a hard runner with a low pad level that keeps his legs moving and doesn't give up on any plays. 32 attempts last night. That's a grinder I would take on my team. BTW, He is 13th in the nation in rushing yards now.

  6. When Bowden talks about recruiting "high character" kids, it is not only off the field but on the field ....... Two things you can do when you get punched in the mouth ........ Fight or quit !! I believe we saw the character of the team at this point ...... It's unfortunate, but let's hope that the young class of 14 and the upcoming class of 15 recruits have a hell of a lot more fight in them !! It is a cliche but true ....... You have to know how to win. Not sure what type of team this is at practice, film study, weight room ....... But changing "the culture", is difficult. Transfers are definitely needed for another year or two, but let's face it, there is a reason that these kids are being dismissed from other schools. I might recommend staying at the juco level for transfers. ....... Not saying they are all bad kids (don't know them)..... But again, there is a reason they were dismissed ...... Just sayin

  7. To just name one simply & obviously: P.J. Fleck. He is a tool but he has Western winning today not tomorrow. The free pass that you give Bowden is just crazy delusional. Perhaps, if there was any semblance of a legitimate sports media presence in NE Ohio, some appropriate questions could be asked of Bowden, giving him the opportunity to acquit himself from the train wreck that is the 2014 Zips. Instead we will get more of the same old bullshit Q&A which is all we deserve as fans because our fan base is so pathetic. The only heat that any Akron coach will ever feel comes from this board. I am tired of being made to feel like I am a fair weather fan by pointing out reality. You can continue to blame everyone but Bowden. You can continue to pretend the defense is good. You can do whatever you need to do to rationalize in your mind the implosion of this season. But here's the bottom line. The buck stops with Terry. If he is not willing to make some changes on his staff, he's got to own the wheels coming off. Mr. Lee Adams wanted to talk about Terry's quote in the BJ about putting players in bad positions. You blew him off saying there was nothing there to talk about, just some coachspeak. Well, I can tell you today I hope it was a legitimate hint dropped that Terry at least sees some of the problems and is going to shake things up. Hopefully today not tomorrow.

  8. Then stop watching the Zips if you have such little faith in Bowden. Again I ask you, who would you have brought here (or would bring here now) that would do any better/different than Bowden has given the absolutely terrible situation he started with. (cue the cricket noise).... Any stock you have remaining in Pohl needs to be sold immediately. He isn't the vocal leader the Zips need on an offense.

  9. AJ calls the run up the middle on 2nd down following an incomplete pass on 1st down like we get 7 points for doing it!?!?!?

  10. Let's keep it positive. The Zips can still win this game because Buffalo could still blow it. As a matter of fact, Buffalo blows donkey so bad they belong in a Tijuana side show. Keep hope alive.

  11. What in the hell has happened to this team. It is mind boggling how they've regressed since the Pitt game.

  13. http://www.nscaatv.com/rankings/3918/NCAADivisionI/men/Poll11 seems very strange to see the zips higher in RPI than they are in the coaches poll. Tulsa has rebounded after the loss to the zips.....to have a nice year...
