  1. Bowden from the gozips.com Q & A: What are you looking for in a quarterback? To me, I want to see the quarterback position evolve a little bit better to a clear, vocal leader. Not one that has quiet leadership skills, but I think that needs to come out a little bit more for all of our quarterbacks. That's one key thing we're looking for. But I've had some awfully good quarterbacks—because poise and laid back and calmness and those things are part of the position— but I do believe there is an element of vocal leadership that we need to get out of that position as well.

  2. Just wanted to say THANK YOU for all the support you gave to the team and the coaches!!! I wish I was able to attend the game but that week we were finalizing the move back in our home (we had a house fire back in Oct 2014) But we watch all the games and I follow all the Blogs and news that was out there regarding the Men's Zips Basketball. As a parent and fan I was so PROUD what this team was able to accomplish through all the adversity they went through. After the game I told Kwan hold your head high because you were able to prove to yourself and everyone out there you guys could do it. No one ever thought you guys would even get this far alone getting to win 21. I just let him know that what you went through this year will prepare for next season. I'm looking forward to the next season because this team will go further than you could ever could dream of. This team actually has a brotherhood that you don't see too often in a basketball organization. I love it and I'm a PROUD mom and fan - Thanks again to all the fans I met over this season we look forward to meeting more of you guys in the next two years. See you next season - GO ZIPS #2 ZIPSMOM

  3. Dammit, Doctor. I guess when I go to a Zips game I want to see some #MACtion! Looking back on that season game by game, there is some truth to what you say. There were some moments that my head almost exploded. . . UMass, the fake FG @ Toledo & the 2nd halves of BG and Can't, but the FIU, Miami and Ohio games were good shootouts that the Zips just came up short on. They had back-to-back stinkers vs. Northern and Central that I tried to forget about but thanks to you I am reminded of.

  4. The defense in '12 couldn't stop air. The 1-11 record was not due to the offense. Certainly not because of DW13. If the '14 D magically coupled with the '12 O, the Zips go 10-2 last year because they would have beaten Ohio, Ball State, Blowing Green & Can't. All the offensive problems aren't just due to the qb, either. There are plenty of others that share in the offensive woes and need to step up their game.

  5. No guarantee they would've gotten the same pairing but how awesome would it have been if Akron had won the title and drew former head coach Huggins and the Mountaineers just down I-71?

  6. There are only 5 teams that have won 20+ games each of the last 10 years, Gonzaga, tOSU, Kansas, Duke, and Akron. That in it's self is impressive.... what is even more impressive is the fact that (prior to this week) together they have accounted for 65 NCAA tournament wins, 5 Final Fours, and 2 National Championships. Pretty exclusive company!

  8. I really struggle with who is more irritating...the people that blow a gasket when they hear someone say "Akron U," and feel compelled to scream "IT'S not Akron U it's THE UNIVERSITY OF AKRON!! THE UNIVERSITY OF AKRON!!" Or the people that, when they hear someone say "Look at Zippy over there, he's taking pictures with some kids" freak out like their hair's on fire and scream "ZIPPY'S A SHE...ITS NOT A HE IT'S A SHE!! A SHE!!" Both are bad...but I can't figure out which is worse.

  11. It's funny how "which one is actually the better team" might only be a very, very minor consideration.

  12. So that's why I feel so sleepy all the time. How about this directly from the WNIT:

  13. ...than absorb NeoMed, but keep the name UA. Doesn't it devalue our Degrees if our University changes it's name?
