  1. This is NOT an entirely new symbol. This picture was taken in 2003 and based on the dirty brim, it wasn't new. The Z logo was delivered with the A-Roo and all other logos with the Joe Bostik rebrand. It's not a "start-over".

  3. Poor TB. They keep showing the picture with the orange hair from the PSU game.

  4. The #1 reason I attended events as a student was definitely the consistency of our team's logos. I can't imagine the drop in attendance if our basketball team started wearing a Z on their shorts or something.

  5. What logo do you think was run on national television when The Zips were playing in back-to-back National Championship games? Here's a hint: It was the most exciting thing to see my team's logo (THE A-ROO) plastered all over the ESPN broadcast.

  6. I like the old varsity A logo. I think it's timeless and we never should have stopped using it. I always liked it because it was basically the BYU logo turned upside down and everybody knows we are the BYU of the Midwest.

  7. I'm honestly indifferent to the whole thing. I like both logos. I was just responding to the "I have NEVER seen the Donkey-ARoo on any of UA's soccer jerseys, warm ups or Cub Cadet field." and the pictures you posted following. And even if the "fact" is that you don't see success tied to the logo, that doesn't mean others don't. That logo represents Akron athletics (good or bad) for a lot of fans. I think the Z will get to that point as well.

  8. The survey conducted last year may have had something to do with the phase out of the A-Roo. Or not. Who knows? Here's the link if you want to vote again. It's still active. https://akron.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_9zapqXETcrznWvz

  9. Just because TW and his friends and relatives don't like the A-Roo, doesn't mean those of us who graduated from UA don't. I know a number of UA alumni who like it including one who does graphics for a major corporation in NEO. The Z is definitely a zero. And for those who say it's just a logo...join the real world. Logos represent the product and certainly affect marketing and merchandising.

  10. Nothing against our alma mater, but it's not like we're Alabama changing the A or Michigan changing their M. No one's going to care in two years.

  11. I just didn't want a "Name Change". So, I think I can live with this. Although, I still think that the general population will never understand "polytechnic", and I believe that devalues many of our fine programs that will be perceived to be outside of this category. I see one error in the report...... Virginia Tech and Texas Tech are examples of branded universities in major URBAN areas? They are in the middle of nowhere. However, I'm sure this will be pleasing information to people who live in Blacksburg, VA and Lubbock, TX.
