  1. Pity should be reserved for those who make themselves perpetually miserable obsessing over unmet unrealistic expectations. Even the best teams have up and down seasons. My realistic expectations are for Zips soccer to be a top 25 program season after season, top 10 some seasons, top contender for the national championship some seasons and an occasional national championship. I would be disappointed if they went on a long slide in competitiveness with no end in sight.

  2. Watched the game this morning on YouTube 1. Offensive line was completely overwhelmed by the OU front seven ..... Thank goodness that we will see nothing like this the remainder of the year 2. Totally frustrated by the terrible accuracy of BOTH QB's. Embarrassing 3. Our starting defense is for real, need that depth to develop to give quality rest time. There was some broken coverages, but once OU got that O cranked up, it sucked all of the gas out of the tank. Any concern I have is in the middle of the field. Watch the film, put the ball in Pohl's hand so he can get a rythm, take our $1 million (that's the number I heard ) and get ready for Pitt Looks like we came out of the game with minimal injuries !! Which is a victory Beat Pitt !!!

  4. I'm just as disappointed in everybody else. We have to remember that last night we were facing the best team and best defense we will face this season. I agree that the talent being brought in could be much better. However, I saw some true freshman in on offense, which leads me to believe that the quality he is bringing in is improving. Last year, I believe Jerome Lane and O'Leary were the only freshman who weren't red-shirted. Kincade was a great recruit. MTB was as well. Kincade bounced before we ever seen him on the field. My guess is due to the change in offense. MTB's career thus far has been a bust, he isn't playing this season and I wouldn't expect much to change. Chapman was a 4 star recruit in HS. So the talent is obviously there. You can see that he is a great athlete. I would like to see him start by completing a pass and not run as much, but I'm not ready to give up on him in his first D1 game against what will likely be the best team he faces in his career. I also know for a fact that we could have had Roger Lewis (BG, initially recruited by OSU IIRC), but the coaching staff didn't want to get involved with his "demands". Good for them.

  5. Valid point. The shocking thing with bowden is that he is bringing in BCS talent on defense, but he can't seem to recruit any offensive playmakers whatsoever. This is his fourth year and he has still not recruited a standout talent at qb, rb or wr.

  6. Good luck against Cornell on Sunday. I have a favorite player on Big Red, Dempsey Banks, one of Hawaii's best players in recent years. Go Zips!

  7. It's not a read option ..... It's a fake hand off and QB keeper I saw this offense all day today ........ At the youth league games. Lol.

  8. Nice 1st half for the zips. Solid defense that is getting no help from the offense. About what most expected. The revamped oklahoma offense is getting overwhelmed by your front 7. Gotta get your offense eating some clock or your defense is going be the walking dead in the 4th quarter

  9. Why we haven't tried to establish the run (((with our running backs))) and try to run play action is beyond me.

  10. Alright. Second half, we need the ball to be in the hands of Kyle Pohl and Connor Hundley. Stop playing musical chairs with both of those positions.

  11. Were still OK. Gotta get a drive going for the defense.

  12. A-zip , thanks for traveling to be at both tough road games. I greatly admire Coach Embick for giving the zips the opportunity to play in front of 8,000 fans against one of the four all time great college soccer programs. Akron football is a 31.5 point underdog at Oklahoma. I love that Akron futbol is not a gigantic underdog when they play the top teams and I love that Coach Embick and his staff have assembled a team that can go into Georgetown and beat a final four team from last year on their home field. I like this team. Adam and Brad will be good leaders for this team. I love the fieriness and competitiveness of Victor and Richie. Sean Sepe, Robby Dambrot, Brad Ruhaak and so many others have improved tremendously over the past 1-2 years. This is a very good , hard working team with high character student athletes. Go, zips !!!

  13. Will do. In the meantime you just keep being your cheery..optimistic self. Maybe we will lose the next game and then you can start sharpening your axe again.
