I've been a distant follower of the Zips in the last couple of years, and an even less frequent poster, but after yesterday's debacle in the pouring rain, and today's crushing of the Browns, there can be absolutely zero doubt that NE Ohio football fans, especially those of us who follow the Zips AND Browns, are the worst-off of any fans, anywhere. Talk about gluttons for punishment. Talk about being cursed. Regarding Bowden, I fail to see the appeal at this point. He's a southern "aw shucks" huckster whose recruiting and style work well in the deep south, obviously, but does any of that "daggum" schtick work in the industrial north? Not that I see. I watched the entire game yesterday and this team looks just like Zips teams have since Ianello was here, which is to say too small, too short, too slow, poorly coached on offense. Tell me again about Terry and offense? Tell me again about his recruiting? I suspect that posters here are still on his jock for no reason beyond him not being Ianello. He may not be Ianello, but he's clearly not good enough. Based on the first two weeks, scheister Scarborough should have completed the switch to OH-PEE-U before this stinker of a game.

I always have to come back to this thought when I see the prospect of fans turning on Bowden. If we get rid of a guy with Bowden's experience and proven track record, what do we replace him with? Sure, there's young "diamonds in the rough" out there, if you can get very lucky to find the right one. If not, you are going back to experimentation and taking chances again. I certainly don't want to go back to that.

Thank you! Someone finally said it. Understand something folks: This is not the All-Galaxy Defense that the Baltimore Ravens won a Super Bowl with. A top 20 no doubt, but the Offence must be, at the very least, above average to give them support to be top 20. I know that people will not like this, but Woodson will have to be the man the rest of the way with Pohl(assuming there is no concussion) as the backup.

Agreed. I'm really dissappointed in this staff. As much as I have defended Bowden, I'm getting to the point I can't. The last three seasons he has been overly conservative. Now this is largely because he doesn't have the QB like he had in Dalton Williams or Marquelo Suel, but he needs to get back to that gun slinging offense. This option read offense is terrible, and I in the stands can tell what play their running before they snap the ball.

Interesting reply, keyboard commando. Last time I checked, the points get totaled to decide who wins the games. Kids who are reclamation projects from larger conferences don't impress me until they win lots of games. Those power 5 kids have won how many games this year so far? It's the MAC playing OOC you say? The MAC has performed well so far in OOC games this year, and yet once again, the Zips are where they have been for far too long. Cultural bias? TB clearly plays up the "daggum" aspect in his delivery and I suspect that doesn't always play so well in the industrial midwest. It's part of the whole Bowden family schtick, which is great if they're winning. Why are you so defensive about this staff? Are you a Bowden? Do you want UA to win or not? What exactly has the staff done to justify support? I don't know who you are but I'd bet a paycheck that I've been following Zips football far longer than you have. Don't sugar coat this start to the season. This is an Ianello-esque offense. Since you know so much more about football than I do, how about you tell us how they're going to win more than a couple of games with this offense, smart guy.

There was talk that Beck and Markell Johnson, top 50 2017 recruit from East Tech, were both going to transfer to a school in New Jersey. But I believe both ended up staying.

What does any of that have to do with only scheduling the worst available teams for every home game? Why can't we get some Horizon League teams to come to the JAR? Why on earth did we end the series with CSU and YSU? Why can't we get a home-and-home series with Wright State or Valparaiso?

Basketball has been fantastic. Soccer has been dominant. Track and Field has been excellent. Women's basketball has become a really good program. Most of the negativity has surrounded Scarborough and his tone-deaf leadership, and only football has been a negative on the athletics side. That's enough to support a name change...???

Last season the Zips started hot and finished cold. At this point I only hope it's a reversed season of starting cold and finishing hot.

This will be a good discussion to have after the season is over and the final record is in the books.

This has to be the worst designed offensive scheme in D1 football. Every pass route is on the sideline effectively adding an additional defender, the sideline. AJ Milwee must go!!

I too have been and will continue to be a supporter of TB but I don't think I have ever seen a worse offense in my life. Milwee must go. I am a Redskin fan and I have to say watching Chapman is like watching RG3. You hear about the mobility and speed but he takes more sacks than any other QB. And the offense doesn't move the ball. Pohl goes in and we score. He should have started the 2nd half. Hell, Pitt kept their 2nd stringer in!!! WTF!!! I feel so sorry for our DEFENSE. They played absolutely amazing and somehow actually kept us in the game with about 10 minutes to go in the 4th quarter. I almost think all the unsportsman penalties the defense committed at the end of the game were a BIG FU to the offense. That was painful to watch.

Well,couple of things. Its obvious that most of you can't predict the weather or the the games. Please try to refrain from predicting either in the future. If Bowden hasn't found a QB after 4 years and doesn't go 6-2 in the MAC he should be gone. Not pretty what might happen after that. Got soaked at the game.

And then it seems like every big home game we have its rains the whole game. What a low attending fan base can ill afford

This game was largely unwatchable. If Terry Bowden can't win at Akron, who can? Hard not to be pessimistic right now. Absolute zero offense.

Bowden is an offensive coach yet the offense keeps getting worse each year.

I wanted an upgrade from pohl. Chapman is not that upgrade. Absolutely no threat of the pass.

Not trying to pick on you but this was unintentionally funny and accurate. Football is supposed to be the marquee sport but I agree with you it has become the Marquis (as in de Sade) sport. All of us who follow it year after year have to have some masochistic tendencies. :-)
