  1. Any Bowl game with an Akron team in it should be seen as a success. That would be one step closer to getting out of the cellar. 1-11, 5-7, 5-7, 6-6 with bowl is certainly trending in the right direction...albeit not as fast as any of us would like.

  2. Look, losing by 49 is completely unacceptable no matter who we're playing, but the bottom line is a loss is a loss. Matt Johnson and Roger Lewis are the leaders in the nation in yardage at their positions for a reason; they're damn good.So far this season, we've lost to a great OK team, a ranked Pitt team whose only loss this year is to an undefeated lowa team, a bowl bound OU team, and a probable MAC champ in BG. I think BG is the best team in the MAC since NIU's Orange bowl team. While it would have been nice to win those games, they aren't exactly slouches. I don't know about you all, but I didn't go into this season expecting a MAC championship. If you did, you need to temper your expectations. Most predicted 7-5ish, which is still certainly attainable. No matter what happens this season, I am still in favor of giving Bowden one more season to get us over that hump with a Winning record/bowl bid. At that point if he doesn't get the job done, the program will be at 4 years of stagnation and its time to move on. JMO. If we end the season 2-2 against those 4 slouches, you'll start to see my patience wear. We should beat the teams we are better than at this point in the process.

  3. I still don't understand the love for Creighton in the coaches poll. Their results so far are down below. Anyone on that list scare you with the possible exception of Tulsa and Michigan St? I have each teams current RPI listed. So their top RPI team is #27 (Tulsa). The Zips have played #1 (Wake), #10 (Georgetown), #15 (OSU), #19 (UCSB), #24 (Maryland) and #26 (ODU) all of which rank higher (and where all three of the Zips losses and ties reside) than Creighton's toughest opponent. I get they have won all of their matches (even though only 4 out of 14 being on the road and the only remaining tough game @Georgetown) but I don't see them as a #1 (neither does the RPI having them listed correctly at #6, behind the Zips at #4 ). #57 University Of Michigan Win 1-0 #160 University Of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Win 4-0 #55 California State University-Northridge Win 2-1 #117 California-Irvine, University of Win 4-0 #39 @Michigan State University Win 1-0 #27 University Of Tulsa Win 1-0 #86 Northern Illinois University Win 2-0 #191 @Seton Hall University Win 4-2 #80 Missouri State University Win 4-0 #132 DePaul University Win 1-0 #87 Drake University Win 2-1 #149 St. John's University Win 2-1 #28 @Butler University Win 1-0 #96 @Marquette Win 3-1 #74 Villanova University #67 Xavier University #71 @Providence College #10 @Georgetown University

  4. ZipGrad....Why in the world would you call it a Train Wreck if we don't win ALL of those last 4 games? Yes, they are bad teams. But winning 4 games in a row against any D-1A opponents is not an easy thing to do. We'll probably be favored in all of them, but you still need to have pretty consistent play to win 4 in a row in the MAC. You're entitled to your opinion, but I really think you're trying way too hard to try to justify why we need to change the direction of our program. The change is not always good. We've been there. Remember?

  5. It wasn't more than 2 years ago that those crappy teams beat the Zips. Often by embarrassing margins. Now we are beating them by embarrassing margins.

  6. I will rewatch the game on ESPN3 sometime this week and give my thoughts then. I have a difficult time evaluating what an offense and defense are doing from field level. Actually, I have two weeks to watch. I can comment on one thing now. I have seen Zips teams in the past take a butt beating while "playfullness" was occurring on the sideline. That was NOT the case Saturday. As a group, everyone looked sick to their stomachs, or angry. I hope it motivates to intensify practice. Overall, I thought they seemed flat Saturday.

  7. If UA is destined to be a middling-to-crappy program, it's time to put the football millions to more productive uses.
