  1. My only observations of our former President with regards to athletics are: He says of InfoCision: "I wouldn't have built that stadium." When asked if he'd consider dropping the football program to the 1-AA level: "Sure, we need to consider all options." When introduced at a 2016 basketball game the crowd resoundingly boo'd him. He killed the baseball program. So in my opinion, the guy was clueless regarding athletics, and it is a happy day that he is gone. Like his soulmate Rob Ianello, he was fired 2 years too late.

  2. I was given the opportunity to review this coming season OOC schedule today. Regrettably Louisville is NOT on the Zips schedule. Akron will play at Gonzaga on that date (December 10th). Only one of the all too familiar low major opponents graces the Zips home schedule. A division 3 opponent, two home games against mid-majors as part of the Savannah tournament; and one decent quality mid-major bought game. I think you will like the schedule. The Zips should put an experienced and deep team on the floor and this schedule should work toward preparing Akron for conference play. Insert usual disclaimer here.

  3. Unfortunately, I don't think any president that comes in to do the job needed will ever be viewed positively by the public. The financial iceberg hasn't gone away.

  5. My first choice was not Tressel but Sandra Pianalto. I have no reason today to think otherwise and she goes right to the top of my list.

  6. Dr. Proenza deserves much of the blame for the school's financial troubles. We need someone in the interim who can right the ship, not bash more holes in it.

  7. They probably did, they definitely had the community, alumni and student support. He hasn't had much trouble at YSU getting the business support. The thing that was "missing" was the support of the faculty. They wanted someone "traditional" someone with "experience". They got what they asked for.

  8. Who in their right mind would want the job? With the toxic environment created by the Faculty Senate, the Beacon Journal and other groups on campus it's going to take a special person to right the ship.
