  1. Hey. Give me a break. I had to get a bite to eat, quaff a beer or two and look at the roster. (My phone was dead at the Info so I couldn't look at it there.) So. . .Woody was the only qb that played for the Blue team. He did not look real sharp but made a couple of nice throws. Ball made 2 pretty nice runs but didn't carry the ball a lot. Most plays were passes. Lots of bubble screens and bombs. Not much over the middle. Newman Williams got a lot of work at TE but was basically there to block. He only ran a few pass patterns and I did not see a ball thrown his way. Gauthney did not dress. Ericksen slid over to C and Cedric McCoy was playing RG. Lane made a couple of nice grabs but also was over/underthrown on a number of deep balls. Bickley was out there playing X reciever. Kinda surprising. Kato Nelson got almost all the reps for White. He throws a nice ball and looks like he has good escapability. He connected on a deep ball 2 times to #5. Unless I am badly mistaken, I think it was Chapman. Speaking of Chapman, he was at qb for the last series before the lightning and looked sharp. Marcus was riding a stationary bike and looked bored. Moore got a lot of work in his absence. Looked alright. Remember what LeBron said about Mosgov the first time he saw him? That's what I said when I saw Jelani Hamilton. That's about it.

  2. I always respected Porter for doing the same thing. In fact, the year we won the National Championship, we started the season on the road at Top-5 ranked Wake Forest and North Carolina, if everyone remembers. This is unlike a football program down south in our state, who played a 50-something ranked schedule, and we had to hear all of their fans bitch when they didn't make the playoff. You could also possibly make the same argument concerning our very own basketball program. I've always said..... If you don't want anyone to question how great you think you are, then SCHEDULE the best, and BEAT THEM.

  3. Also, #5 could have been Thaddeus Snodgrass, the new transfer from KY. That was his number at KY and that might not have had time to get him a new number if he just arrived.

  4. Nelson playing so much was rather strange, I thought. During this scrimmage there were coaches and personnel on the field behind the offense. While Kato is playing, Chapman was out there standing behind him, watching. I can't definitively say that Chapman played WR, but #5 red jersey definitely caught 2 deep balls. The entire scrimmage was a cluster with 4 different color jerseys and both blue and white helmets and mixtures of all of these on both sidelines. I have to wonder if some of this was done on purpose to disguise what was going on just in case there were any scout eyes peering onto the field. At any rate, it was good to see some football. It was the first time I had seen any practice at all this summer and it was complete dumb luck that I was able to see this session. I came up to do a dress rehearsal for my new tailgate setup and grab a couple of beers at Hoppin Frog. When we got back to Lot 9 we heard whistles and coaches yelling on the field, so we hung around until the storm rolled in.

  5. Akron 1-0 Georgetown Very entertaining match between two quality sides. Basically same style of ball from each. Zips had more of the ball, but not by much. Hoyas had way more possession than Zips usually allow. Both sides had just a few chances. Both keepers wowed the crowd. Zips converted a rebound with 36 seconds remaining. Match could very easily have gone to Georgetown. But Zips earned a result, if not the win. Embick had no freshman starting. This moved Najem to Forward. (Joke is that everyone at Akron is Midfield.) At the hour mark, Freshman Jon Lewis entered the match like he was shot from a cannon. Najem dropped to Midfield. Whole match changed right there.

  8. If Dennison was there, I unfortunately missed him. Did anyone see him in attendance? LeBron was out of town but sent a video. For zippy_ua_00: Nate Linhart was also not in attendace. He had already returned to Europe to start training camp for this season. Nate also sent a video. Videos were also sent in by former assistant coaches Shaka Smart and Jeff Boals.

  9. Didn't know Dennison was there. Glad he was invited - I'm certain that meant a lot to him (he's an extremely humble guy).
