Attended my nephew's graduation at UA this morning. Per GoZips.com, I knew that Tyler Sanda and Goncalo Soares were graduating, but Zips Mens Soccer actually had 4 graduates. Tyler Sanda, Biology (summa cum laude) Goncalo Soares, International Business Kofi Sarkodie, Biology (summa cum laude) Robbie Derschang, Sports Science (magna cum laude)

It's great that Robbie and Kofi were both able to finish their degrees at Akron after leaving for the pro ranks. I knew Robbie came back to do so, but I was pleasantly surprised to see Kofi's name there too. Congrats to all 4 graduates. Happy to be able to call all them Fellow UA alumni! Best wishes to all, and best wishes to Tyler Sanda in Medical School!

Hey...I found this on hustlebelt.com: The drop of men’s soccer in particular leaves the MAC in a bad place for the near future. Men’s soccer is an optional sport for conference membership and currently only has six member institutions (Akron, BGSU, Buffalo, NIU, WMU and West Virginia), the bare minimum for an auto-bid to the NCAA Tournament. Hartwick was a former member, but recently moved to the Sun Belt Confernece. Losing Buffalo means the MAC has to find at least one new member within two years. Otherwise, they lose that auto-bid, which directly impacts Akron’s soccer program, considered one of the best in the country. So we've got that going for us....

Can someone see if John Groce would be willing to hit the recruiting trail for football too?

It is one thing if Tuesday Night games guarantee you are on ESPN, ESPN2, or even ESPNU, but a weeknight on ESPN3 should never happen if the whole reason for weeknight games in the first place is for more eyes to be on the games.
