VCU is 4-3 this year Started the year with a 2-0 loss to Georgia Southern. Then had 3 straight wins...3-0 over Radford ; 1-0 over Temple ;1-0 over Santa Clara in OT. Then went on the road to Bloomington,IN...Lost 5-0 to IU Lost at home 1-0 to Pitt. VCU led 7-0 in corner kicks and 16-10 in shots On Wed. the 19th, VCU had an impressive 4-0 win over Old Dominion.

If you are not busy this weekend with the Zips Gridders having a bye week, and the MSOC team not home either, nor VB...if the weather is decent, maybe drive out to Norton and see the Zips Cross Country teams compete. Not only that, they are hosting the All-Ohio Intercollegiate Championships to boot! About 50 universities and colleges from Ohio will be there competing and the course is very viewer friendly, and Akron has some serious threats with Mackenzie Andrews on the women's side and Nick Stricklen and Andre Bollam-Godbott on the men's side. Starts at 2 pm (I think) at Silver Creek Metro Park, with the courses specifically designed for XC running. Go Zips!

Update on sophomore Sheron Phipps: Sheron Phipps transferred from Orrville to Division I Thomas Worthington High School for this season and is having an outstanding year at Slot WR and CB for the Cardinals. Wow, just think if Orrville still had both Phipps and Parks this year. Anyway, I think the Zips should recruit both players. I've said it a million times, and I'll say it one more; Terry Bowden will retire as head football coach of the Akron Zips. Go Zips.

Iowa State seems like a school that is good to do "business" with. I mean look no further than how they handled their South Dakota State cancellation compared to Nebraska. I think they probably think the same of us. I was out of town, so unable to watch the game but I am going to tonight. The place looked packed, which is impressive to me considering historically how bad they've been. @Cykron seems to rep them well.
