Pick up a Roku box at Walmart for around $59, one time purchase. Hook it up to your TV and Internet. As well as hundreds of other things...it has a Watch ESPN channel. Every ESPN channel game is on it. Just like watching it on cable.

I have a PS4 and a Ipad that has apps. I know how watchespn works as I used it in the past to watch Zips games. The issue is if you go to try to log into watchespn, they ask for your cable provider login info. Since I no longer have cable, my timewarner credentials will no longer allow for me to utilize watchespn.

Looks like we need Northern Iowa and Little Rock to drop one in their tourneys to move up to the 12 spot.

UNI already clinched the MVC. Akron still has the opportunity to leap them, especially if they meet OU in the finals as what is currently 2 top 80 wins right now could perhaps turn into 3 top 60 wins. They probably need Ark-LR to lose, but they might be able to leap them as well, however, I feel that is less likely.

Then we also can't forget that the team we beat by 14 on a neutral court was without their best player that averaged 22ppg this season.

Fair enough. It still doesn't change my opinion. A 7 loss team from the 20th ranked conference that barely has a top 200 SOS should not make the tournament unless they receive their conferences auto-bid. You might say it isn't fair to penalize them for what conference they play in, but by letting them in over other mid majors that have similar records, but got stuck playing a vastly more grueling conference schedule (and schedule overall) would be equally, if not more, unfair. Why should Akron have to play the same difficulty OOC schedule then get stuck playing a vastly more difficult conference schedule?

I'll take any #11 seed that just scored an upset win, on the road, and has to travel to Cleveland again in a couple of days to play us.

And if you ask our players, I'm sure they'd feel differently and would love the chance to avenge their awful performance in Oxford a few weeks ago.

Differences of opinion, but I don't feel Miami looks like a typical 11 seed team. They got off to a horrendous start, but finished strong. In the last 2 weeks alone they had wins over the #1, #3, #5, and #6 seeded MAC teams. Lone loss was by 1 possession to #2 team.

This is certainly a case for those who support the idea of re-shuffling teams at the end of the first round, before we get to the quarterfinals.

Now, the #1 and #2 seeds get the more difficult games Thursday, and the #3 and #4 seeds are getting to play an 11 and 12.

I'd rather play EMU over Miami TBH. Miami is playing really good basketball right now winners of 4 out of their last 5. Only loss was by 1 possession to #2 seed OU.

2 top 50 wins. Committee has valued big wins more than they discount bad losses lately. Most of the writers I follow think they'll be in and I tend to agree. They've been rewarding the teams that go on the road OOC and come away with wins.

They are probably in...for now, but there are plenty of bubble teams that have opportunities to make statements in the coming days. 1 of those 2 RPI top 50 wins is against USC who has lost 6 out of last 8 and has an RPI of 43. They will easily fall out of top 50 with another loss. They need to cheer for Notre Dame and USC to do well and for chalk in the remaining games. You have to expect some team(s) that are borderline bubble will put together a decent run and steal a spot.

Edit: 16 of their wins came against teams with RPIs 200 or greater. Their conference schedule killed them.

They beat UCLA, Notre Dame, USC, Georgetown.. They should be in.

They are a 7 loss team with a 199th ranked SOS. If Akron isn't a at-large contender, which they aren't, with 7 losses and a 129 SOS then Monmouth certainly isn't. There are plenty of other at-large teams that have more than 4 RPI top 100 wins.

Edit: 3 of their losses were to teams that had RPIs in the 200s

Miami did us a favor by beating BSU last night; their RPI is now 191, so at the moment we currently have 0 sub-200 losses. Looks a little better.

Miami doesn't look like your typical 11th seed. You can tell they have improved greatly since the beginning of the season. They finished the regular season by winning 3 of their last 4 games. The teams they beat were Akron, Buffalo, and Kent who were all top 5 seeds. Their lone loss was to #2 seed OU.

The Green Bay/Valpo game was a Horizon semifinal. They'll face the winner of Oakland/Wright State in the Championship. Your point still stands though, all 3 would've seeded below Akron if we win in CLE. Let's just root for GB for RPI purposes. Tonight's results bumped us up to 33, btw.

Got lost in the excitement lol. If SDSU and Ark-Little Rock both lose, I feel we have a chance of sneaking into an 11th.

Like you said we need to take care of our business. It's just nice to see so many games break our way.

  10. Valpo and Monmouth losing are both good things for Akron. Valpo IMO is NIT bound. Monmouth might squeeze in as a 12 seed at-large. It will be close. Even if they do make the tournament it will hurt teams like OSU who are fighting for at-large bids, not us. Green Bay is now added to the tournament, which despite beating us earlier this season, I don't see them getting seeded above us. I mentioned earlier that for Akron to get a 12 seed they need to higher ranked than 18 auto bid teams. 2 new teams in Green Bay and Iona just got added to the field that will be seeded behind Akron.

  11. For being a smaller article I actually found it to be fairly informative.  In regards to a new arena I feel it had to be assumed that the plans are squashed for now. He stated not to expect anything for another 5 years, but I feel unless the city passes a tax for a downtown arena at some point, which seems highly unlikely, or some big donor comes out of nowhere, we won't be seeing much on that front for 10-20 years when we start paying off some of those landscape for learning facilities.

I'm curious as to what plans they have in store to better fill the stadium.

  12. I'm glad to see that Big Dog and Reggie weren't penalized for Akron having so much depth. It shows that the voters actually watched the games by choosing guys like Reggie and Big Dog. who help their team win. over guys that filled a stat sheet on mediocre teams that had little to no depth.

I won't comment on what the teachers are demanding, and how I feel about it.

But the whole situation just adds to an already-embarrassing and damaging situation.  It needs to stop.

I agree 100%. Likewise I'm not going to comment about what the teachers are requesting, but I will say that I feel the teachers hold the leverage as the last thing the University wants is more bad publicity.

Yes if we win we should end up ahead of Chattanooga & Stony Brook. However I am seeing Monmouth and Valparaiso as an 11/12 so we could possibly slip into one of those seeds should either falter.

Tonight's MAAC title game between Monmouth and Iona could have a huge positive effect on the Zips should Iona win and the Zips make it throught Cleveland.

A 12 seed looks most likely if the Zips win out. They would almost certainly need Monmouth, Valpo, and SDSU to all lose to get an 11th. They might be able to leap Ark-Little Rock as Ark-Little Rock will face at most 1 RPI top 150 team in their conference tournament, but  they are better off hoping for them to lose as well.

Currently has as a a 13 seed playing Arizona.

You're looking at the Lunardi's February 22 bracket. Its been updated multiple times since. Below is the March 7th version, It has us facing Kentucky round 1. A lot is still going to change between now and then.

Green Bay plays Valpo tonight also. While them winning wouldn't really help as much since I don't see them sniffing the top 100, it would help to have Valpo knocked out prematurely.

+1 this guy gets it. We should also be cheering against Chattanooga & Stony Brook tonight. Akron is probably ahead of both teams if seeding was done today, but them losing eliminates all doubt.
