  1. Let's vote off WMU next.
  2. A rising tide lifts all ships.
  3. I'm similarly worried given how few close games we've played and won this year.
  4. As I posted before, last year the MAC posted its schedule on March 5th. It seems premature to jump to any conclusions.
  5. This is literally the MAC SZN thread meaning this would be where we would talk about Miami and other MAC schools. If you don't want to discuss other MAC teams that's fine, but you probably should just stay out of this thread.
  6. To be honest I've only watched 3 or 4 Miami games all season. I can't really weigh in on the games I haven't seen. I do know a few of their close games they came from behind in and others they were up and protecting the lead. If you're trailing, you foul. If you're up you don't. I'm not invested enough to go back and look at the boxscores for each game to see which were which.
  7. And before that they bragged about attendance numbers. When you haven't made it to the Big Dance in nearly half a century you have to find something to boast about.
  8. 4 is a lot when you only play 9 home games in total during conference play. Not saying it makes up the full +107, but it does represent a chunk.
  9. Yes, Miami also plays in a lot more close games where they're ahead. I feel you would need to subtract end of game FTs where opposing team is intentionally fouling to extend the game to give this any context. In a lot of our match-ups, like last night, we're up double figures with <1 minutes so the opposing team doesn't bother trying to extend the game.
  10. Rafters at the JAR are getting full anyways. Save the space for more NCAA Tournament banners.
  11. Akron definitely can play at a higher ceiling. Miami is still very good. Probably the best MAC team we faced in the tournament since the Oats UB team. If we bring our B game and they play their A game they can and likely win. If we match their level of play we should come out on top IMO.
  12. One would have to remember even if he does return will he be in form? Can he give UB 30 - 35 minutes of quality production? Against us he came off the bench and he didn't get a full work load.
  13. It feels dirty rooting for Ohio.
  14. It is sad that I'm surprised there are 6 teams worse? If blindly asked I would have thought we would be 2nd or 3rd worst.
  15. I do agree there should be more standardization in compensation. Regarding is other tweet the big reason why power programs stopped going to mid-major schools is money. Not only do they get ticket sales and concessions, but the home team dictates who has broadcasting rights. Now that all these big conferences have their own networks they have to not only fill TV slots for ESPN, Fox, CBS...but also need programing for the SEC, ACC, Big 10 networks. Purdue-Akron might not draw millions of eyeballs, but it will get more viewers than a random Big 10 volleyball or soccer match.
  16. It was an ignorant tweet. If he actively scheduled 3-5 games against teams like Yale, McNeese St, any of the top half teams in the MVC, etc. nobody would be commenting on the lack of a P5 game on their schedule. If anyone did risk assessment it was Miami. Actively avoiding quality mid-majors, but expecting a mid-tier (not a Purdue, Alabama, UM, Duke, etc.) to agree to play you. Edit: I will give him Wright State as a quality mid-major. He needed another 2-4 (excluding SunBelt challenge)
  17. Not sure why it would matter for us when the last time Miami was the 1 seed. I'm more pointing out that our team is used to going to Cleveland without being the favorite and still winning. Although I'm not sure Miami is much of a favorite. If Akron and Miami do meet in the finals I think it would pretty much be a pickem game.
  18. The thing is that's subjective. I don't think anyone can really argue that Miami's résumé is at least on the bubble and deserves a look. From there it just depends on how one weighs things. That's the problem with a committee picking the teams. Everyone has their own opinion and weighs things differently. What you might feel deserves more importance @clarkwgriswold might not or vice versa.
  19. But $2 Bud Lights are.
  20. Give it a few more years of the B1G spanking the SEC and then some senator from Alabama or Louisiana will make reform a priority. Just look at how involved the Louisiana Governor was in the recent coaching change. It's an easy way for them to gain favor with their constituents without having to do a whole lot.
  21. The answer is no
  22. I would agree with this statement most years, but the Big East is having a bad year (by their standards). Buffalo beat 5th place DePaul by 13 earlier in the season. I think this season both Akron and Miami would compete in that 5-7 range in the conference.
  23. Sure we are. Last season was the only year this senior class has had the #1 seed in the MAC tournament. I imagine in many of those years few had us slotted into the field a week before the tournament.
  24. It looks goofy, but I honestly don't hate the fact that they re-seed after the opening round.
  25. Kent teaches them what not to do.
