To make up for NWAkron, I am doubling my sense of dread for this one. As a conditioned NEO sports fan this one just feels like the perfect storm for a swift kick in the n*+$ coming off of the PCCC high.
The warm ups the rim looks awfully big for the Rockets, hitting everything

And in years past we would be talking about an at large bid. Ok, why not. If Akron wins out and loses in the final, do we get an at large bid? (LOL)
Right. Reclaim our fears. Actually, not feeling much either way on this game. Expecting a loss or two going into March. Prefer it's not at the JAR.

An eerie sense of calm washed over me as I mentally prepared for my trip to the James A Rhodes Arena this evening. But then I read posts about seedings and win streaks and that calm quickly shifted to dread.

Fox has us as a 13 seed facing Kansas State.
Lunardi is an overpaid moron with a historically poor track record. He's the Mel Kiper of college basketball.
Bringing bad karma with these posts.

We're a 14 seed in Lunardi's most recent bracket, against Shaka Smart's Marquette team in... Columbus. That would be juicy. Not that anything will stay the same over the next 5-6 weeks.
We dare not speak of this. Bad luck.

this is on espn. any more info on the tacos? TacoBell boxes? Taco bar?
-
Tomorrow night: really surprised that Ohio is a -3 favorite over NIU at the DeKalb Triangle. And Buffalo, -8.5 over EMU. Although, I'm happy to see EMU keep losing so they are sitting home come March.

First 500 fans get free tacos.
What kind of Tacos?

Maybe it's the server issue, but Toledo certainly doesn't bring the excitement that Kent does. Hopefully, students will keep up the effort and fun tomorrow and the Zips had some good practices.

Still can’t believe how well the White Out went over. I was thinking there’d be maaaaaybe 1/3 of the crowd wearing white.
The word definitely got out & almost everyone rocked it! Very cool 😎
A relative of mine who was at the game said it was "one of the best Zips games they've ever been to."

Twitter is buzzing about Akron basketball. The nation took notice last night. We're a real team with one of the best mid major barns in the country atmosphere wise (when we want it to be).
Massive shoutout to the students. 1400. That's nearly 10% of the entire student body that came out. Big time 6th man award last night.
all the buzz makes me nervous. Staff has to keep their heads focused on task at hand.

The game was listed as sold out at 6:00 when we tried to get tix.
I didn't write that well. those seats aren't held by anyone during the season. these guys picked them up at some point for last night. never saw them before but were totally into the game.

Tuesday is big. The northeast Ohio sports fan in me expects a let down. Hope the Zips prove me wrong!
Groce would say it comes down to how they practice the next two days. Preparation trumps pressure.
There's going to be a let-down game like the 2020 cluster at Bowling Green. i just hope it's at an away game.
-
as of tonight. OU would be the same as the cancelled 2020 first round.
1. Akron
2. Kent State
3. Toledo
4. Ball State
5. NIU
6. Buffalo
7. Bowling Green
8. Ohio

Central Michigan without Zarzuela tonight. Toledo should blow them out.

Was it Yogi Berra that said “The place is so crowded nobody goes there.”?
There were easily a hundred or two that stood in each corner on the track due to the lack of seats. Closest the Zips have come to the CSU Zips game in the mid-80’s, where every seat was taken and people were sitting on the stairs throughout the JAR.
I think the seats next to me in the lower bowl are un-sold. Was cool, last night a few Akron guys bought those tickets, had their beers, and were pumped for the game in their Akron gear.

Really happy BG hired and extended Huger. NIU schooling them at the Stroh Center. NIU had 52 points with 16 minutes left. PCCC had a grand total of 55 for the game. BG making a comeback which falls flat.

Announcers did a recap of last night's MAC games, and were gushing over Emoni's performance. They then mentioned that Can't never led the entire time, and got as close as 4 in the 2nd half, but literally never mentioned Akron except for "in the Rubber City."
Puke.
that's fine. who picks the MAC POY? coaches or media? If it's media, being the cynic that I am, I could imagine som $$ and pressure floating around for a Bates pick.

Tuned into Ohio vs. Miami. Combined 4-14 in the league. Lots of close losses between the teams.
Same. Like to see Miami beat them.
