Some major recruiting fails. AD Guthrie isn't going to accept average or just making it to the first round in Cleveland. Like other years, it appears the other teams are figuring out the Zips. Freeman hasn't had a good game in a while and it's 50/50 whether Trimble can make a shot. If they shut down Freeman, and Trimble is cold...game over. Zips got lucky with that Buffalo game. Buffalo was missing Mballa and refs were calling tons of fouls. I don't expect anything at this point but fortunately we have an AD who DOES have expectations.

Zips beat them twice last year...without fans. But total fail. There are some guys who give negative minutes.

This program is stalled under Groce. 2019-2020 he had his group that was going to make a run. COVID stole that away and since then he's had some recruiting fails and can't put a team together. Don't see anything better next year.

Zips missed games away against Miami, BG, and home against NIU. Buffalo moved up to New Years Day, so both of those teams have empty schedule on 2/1. I can't figure out when Akron is going to make up these games. Unless COVID hits Miami, BG, or NIUs opponents on 2/1. thoughts?

Ali may have been coming off COVID. When I watched the replay, the lower bowl looked emptier than it did in person. But I would say significantly more people there last night than at the Ohio game. I shouldn't hate Whitford so much. Because of him, Zips keep beating them. Same with Pinky. I thought the flow of the first half eventually helped the Zips because Ball State, who was playing better, couldn't get any runs or rhythm even though they were benefiting from all the fouls and turnovers. As for some of the fouls, the only one that I thought was bad was the call on Dawson for his 4th foul. Aziz needs to know he will always get called for a foul when he goes over the back trying to rebound a free throw. And BSU, got some cheap away from the ball fouls near end of game.

Beat Toledo but lose to NIU and CMU. Go figure

Castaneda has a Darryl Roberts quality about him, although I don't think Darryl put up 29 points. McNees/Roberts was a killer combo.
