  1. interesting.. Thank you. So in basketball the east and west conferences don't really matter, as long as, Akron is in the top four.
  2. How does seeding for the MAC tournament work? Is it premised upon the top four teams get a first round bye or do the top two teams from each division get byes?
  3. According to Ole Kenpom the Zips are rated above Daniel Utomi's mighty USC Trojans.
  4. Akron is up to #58 in the latest Kenpom poll (1/22)
  5. ass-whoopin early
  6. 69-61 zips
  7. so who would you give the edge to Teague or Knapke?
  8. do you think we have an answer to him aside from the double team?
  9. Toledo has a big #30 that worries me. He creates a mismatch and without a doubt our weakest link is our center.
  10. NIU doesn't belong on the same floor as us
  11. here is a free stream for the indigent https://www.reddit.com/r/ncaaBBallStreams/comments/eou1ay/game_thread_northern_ill_vs_akron_0800_pm_est/
  12. I personally think if LCJ gets the opportunity to leave he will. While he may love Akron and may have bought into Groce's system he still has to look out for his own interests. If a better program comes knocking I expect him to jump ship. I definitely don't want him to leave, however, if I were in his position (academically or athletically) and a "superior" (for lack of better term) program offered me the same deal Akron is offering me with a chance to make more money or gain more exposure, as much as it may hurt, I would make the decision which is in my best interest. I guess the bigger question raised would be whether or not "superior" programs would ever consider giving a talented 5'8 PG a spot in their rotation. If the answer is yes I expect him to leave. If the answer is no them I expect him to remain with the Zips.
  13. I am not a fan of the 9pm start either. Definitely will not help with attendance. I wonder how many people will show up at 7.
  14. Thanks for the insight. I'd like this if I could, however, it appears, I am out of likes for the day.
  15. well yeah, we aren't getting votes because we lost our three hardest games. I think (IF) we won one of those games we would be receiving votes. The team was very very young when they played WVU and Louisville. If we played them now, I truly believe the games would be much closer, we probably would still lose but I think it would be by a more narrow margin. Lastly, I did not follow The Zips in 2012-2013 so I can not make a comment on that statement but what would it take (in your opinion) to top the 2012-2013 team?
  16. 2522.. I went to the Akron vs EMU game in Ypsi and after seeing their fan base (on a Saturday) I am thankful for our fan base. That arena was deader than a doornail.
  17. If we won either of those games, or even against Liberty, we would without a doubt be a top 25 team in the country right now. We're literally just one win away from this team being considered the greatest Akron bball team in recent history, if not all time.
  18. Should be another double digit victory. Ball State lost to Evansville, Western Illinois, and Utep. While this game will be The Zips "biggest win" considering Ball State is on the brink of being a top 100 team. The Zips should easily roll them with a surplus of talent and team comradely which is typically unprecedented in Akron bball.
  19. WOW, with the win over WMU the zips are up to #83 in the most recent Kenpom poll.
  20. YES, here are a few of my favorites with a short description (in no particular order): 1) Isalita= (GF works there) high end Mexican food with amazing margs. My favorite is called the frozen blood orange blackberry marg. SO GOOD. 2) Frita Batidos= CUBAN Chorizo burgers! Limited family style seating though. 3) Jerusalem Gardens= phenomenal Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food that you 100% can't get in Oh. Trust me. 4) Gratzi= Fancy authentic Italian. Spectacular food but have only eaten there once do to the price $$$. 5) Pretzel Bell= includes a basketball court on the ceiling very fun for the family featuring comfort food. 6) Tomukun Korean BBQ (personal favorite)= very fun and hands on experience you can't get anywhere locally. Again, these are just a few of my favorites that would be different than something you would or could get in Ohio. For that reason I excluded pizza and burger joints. If you want standardized bar food I would recommend either Brown Jug or Blue Leprechaun.
  21. According to KenPom, the Zips are the highest rated Mac team entering conference play.
