That was the dumbest thing I have ever seen. QB is 9 for 10 passing and you pull him. Gasser is an idiot. Probably promised DJ Irons that he would be the starter when he recruited him.

You guys are absolutely crazy if you think OL played well. Gibson was hit over 20 times in the game and we still cannot get the running game going. Yes they are young and continue to improve but putting any blame on the QB is non sense. Secondly, the second series when the OC put Irons into the game cost the team points. We were driving and he put him in because of his pride. He recruited Irons and wants him to shine so he can get credit for his development. There is NO doubt that Gibson should be and should have been the starter all along. That led to Arth being fired. Just my opinion.

BTW, according to Pro Football Focus Zach Gibson was the 2nd rated passer in CFB in FBS and Arth/Gasser benched him in the 1st Quarter. Make sense??

All I know is that benching Gibson was a BIG mistake. He may not be dynamic as Irons but clearly has more control of the offense. To bench him when the score was 0-0 is just awful coaching decision. How in hell can these kids gain any confidence when they get pulled after a slow start. Irons had 5 fumbles (3 lost) , 1 INT, a 15yd Personal Foul and that is the guy they want leading this team??? No wonder Akron will not or cannot win. This team has some talent that will be in the portal by December because of the inept coaching staff.

I promise you we couldn't beat them. These coaches are out matched every weekend. The good players want to transfer because the coaches are so poor.

This team is a train wreck. The coaching is worse. Example: Before the half 1:15 on your own 30. Up 10-3. How do you allow Ohio to get the ball back?? Once the negative play happens on 1st down it's over. Get to half. But no, we allow Ohio to get the ball and score with 9 secs left. That is coaching. This offense is NOT going to score with this QB run 1st mentality. Yes DJ is dynamic, but it's not sustainable. Defensively, NOT one noticeable adjustment. Stop the frigging run, make 18 throw. They didn't have to because we were in base defense the entire 2nd half. Terrible coaching. Seen 3 years of the same script. Something has to change.

Lots 9 and 10 are best for tailgating. Irons is out for concussion protocol. May be cleared by Saturday. Nelson will start if he doesn't have any setbacks. Gibson played well in the 3 minutes he did play on Saturday. Looked composed and confident. Our QBs are not our problem.

The Arth penalty was him complaining that the play clock was not reset to 40 sec and he was forced to call a TO in the 3rd quarter. I continued to yell at the official until he had enough. 15yds. Then next play botched snap. Thankfully, the quarter ended and everything called down and DJ bailed the coach and the team out with a spectacular run to start the 4th quarter.

Anyone have any info or feedback on the scrimmage that occurred today? I heard Kato and DJ Irons along with some RBs where missing.

Just curious isn't the schedule rotational? I know we are down but in a couple of years shouldn't it be more favorable?

John, this kid has 4 years of eligibility left. He will be a great addition. He couldn't crack the lineup at FSU because they had 2 guys that got drafted that obviously were pretty good. Would love to grab a TE off the portal.

I had heard that he visited the campus and was impressed. He will add depth to that position of need. Can we get a TE please??

How about the kid transferred to Akron when the roster was a little thin. Kato having surgery on his shoulder, Gibson and Marousek were Freshman, TJ was a sophomore that hadn't played. So the thought being come here and compete. Now with DJ Irons and Janokowski here he was buried on the depth chart. With the availability of the transfer portal and no path to play here at Akron it's probably in his best interest to go FCS. (Which is probably where he should have gone out of HS). Good luck to him and his journey.

Zippy5 the issue I have is a player being in quarantine for 10 days due to contact tracing. That should not be the case. These players are not at risk, should be tested after a few days of quarantine and then allowed to rejoin the team activities.

Quick update: T. Dollard is suspended until further notice. Expected back in the summer. A WR tested positive for Covid-19 that has resulted in several players missing the remaining of Spring camp due to contact tracing. When will these protocols be relaxed??

John if that happens then you lose 2-3 QBs. These QBs Gibson, Marousek and Janokowski are all young and need experience. Nelson and Irons provide experience. Bringing in a transfer at this position doesn't make sense to me. Bringing in some mature lineman on both sides off the portal makes sense. IMO

Building a team from the absolute bottom requires time and patience. Unfortunately, you're not guaranteed success only hope. This team will begin to blossom in 2022. 2019 was a disaster, absolute dumpster fire. 2020 was more competitive and the kids got better. Now just need to keep them around and have them grow together. One more year of learning and growing pains. I think Nelson and Gibson will be at the top of the depth chart coming out of the spring. Then Irons will get some looks in fall camp. The bottomline is that the QB position is now a position of strength with the depth being built.

I laugh at all of you that think Gibson is not the answer at QB. He has 4 years of eligibility left and now the game will slow down with improving OL and running game. Kato and Gibson will be at the top of the depth chart in 2021. Write it down.

I am not worried at all about our QB position at all. Kato and Gibson will most likely be QB1 and QB2 next season. Our offense will get better when our OL grows and gets stronger. Starting 4 Freshman with no game experience this season is unheard of in college football. Think about that, other than Peterson, the other 4 starters had 2 games of experience combined coming in. Gibson was running for his life on passing downs. He also called the protections on the OL that produced a quality run game. So his knowledge of the offense was good considering he is a freshman as well and had NO SPRING or summer workouts. We had Freshman receivers as well. So the offense is learning. 2022 this team will win and produce a product all Zip fans will be proud of. That's my prediction
