  1. Ouch. Davis and Sullinger. Two huge hits to our friends in Portage County
  2. Made the drive yesterday. Great atmosphere. Lots of Zips fans in the building. Pretty much a full house for our game. Downtown Pittsburgh is such a wonky place. Lots of narrow streets and damn those bridges But anyway, Akron played as well as it could for 18 minutes. The next six game minutes did not go well. Then they got impatient and started shooting 3s and we know they ain't too good shooting from long range. Creighton shot 59% from 3. Ouch. But honestly, the Zips never stopped giving great effort. I know the correct narrative is this team never found the gear we thought they had. We would get a little tease here and there. But as the sadness of the end wears off, that Kent championship game will be the enduring memory. We all want this program to pull off an "Oakland" at some point, but for now, season is over. Future is in the portal somewhere. But this was a great group of seniors and at least we have a regular season title and two tourney titles since 2020 (no tourney in 2020) to be proud of. I'm confident that Coach will find some help in the offseason. Well done Zips! Looking forward to another banner going up.
  3. Heading to Pittsburgh shortly. Go Zips! Let’s be this year’s story!
  4. I see LeBron sent the Duquesne team new shoes. He publicly congratulated Jake Diebler. Has the kid from Akron said anything about the Zips’ success?
  5. Zips radio guy coming up in a minute on WTAM 1100 - 8:45
  6. Have we heard from LeBron since the Zips won the MAC? Noticed he posted on X yesterday a congrats to Jake Diebler.
  7. A bold prediction https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/sports/college/zips/2024/03/17/akron-creighton-predictions-picks-march-madness-2024/72997351007/
  8. Perfect location, good tip time, obviously a great opponent but like you said above, not unbeatable. Looks like we have a group of 4 heading to Pittsburgh. Waiting on ticket info from UA.
  9. Hunter is 6-9 and Freeman ran at sullinger. Seemed like a solid plan to me.
  10. heard the same. The days of saving the paper as a keepsake from a night like last night are all but over. YouTube videos are where those memories are now. A shame about the Beacon.
  11. really truly one of the best and most thrilling and stressful games I’ve ever watched. It reminded me of the old days when Woody and Bo said winning The Game was more important than anything. That was for a trip to the dance last night but moreso, it was an Akron/Kent State fist fight for 40 minutes. The effort by both teams was off the charts.
  12. Sorry if posted but poor Julius … I can’t help but feel a little bad for him. But … https://www.si.com/college/2022/03/12/mac-suspends-four-kent-state-mbb-players-for-conference-title-game forgot Hornbeak was suspended too
  13. Excellent Clark. I listened to his postgame presser. Very complimentary of Akron. Class remarks about his kid who fouled Tribble. Very gracious in an agonizing moment.
