That is true, I think he’s probably close to being talented enough yo be on the field. How do you see the o line as it stands now? Maybe a grad transfer center and tackle?

With Williams in the portal do you think McManus had a real shot at starting center? I know Morris has had some reps there as well.

What are the positives going into 2025? I can think of starting caliber QB and talented but inexperienced underclassmen. Portal additions and offers out don’t particularly excite me. Also if the young inexperienced talent plays well then they will be off for a “better situation”.

That is insane that they do not get a meal plan. I’m sure there’s more small things that they don’t get that would help.

Do you think King has the ability to play at tackle? I’ve been intrigued with Mann. Seems like he was on cusp of P4 offers. Great size at 6’7”. Hoping he has developed over past 2 years.

It seems like we have some good depth on IOL. Morris, Williams, and Davis being the starters plus McManus, JBD, Fox and Mitchell. Do you think any of them could move to tackle? They all seem to fit the IOL mold, however OT is ice thin.

I mentioned this in another thread. These are great ideas, and I think are all possible. You list the alumni as leaders. Who would it take to really get this going? Until this happens Akron will be trying to rebuild its team each portal season. Coaching staff has hit on a lot of under recruited talent, but once they shine they’re off to a “better situation”. Not the kids fault, but there needs to be something done. I can’t imagine Joe puts up with it much longer.

Excuse my ignorance. Is there a possibility that Akron could ever set up some type of NIL presence? Obviously the University is not in position to do that. Would it take one big donor to have the money and “want” to set this up for football? It seems like even a little bit could keep some contributors or younger guys longer. Could any type of money could be used to enhance QB/OT/DL/CB or is that unrealistic?

What are your thoughts on safety depth. Watching the hs tape of Hunter and Owens they look athletic and physical. Do you think they are ready to step up? Has anyone ever got any clarification on what happened to Alex Adams? I know he has been injured, but he has disappeared for the past 2 years. Is he out of eligibility? If he’s not is there any chance he comes back?

Also didn’t know Nunnally had another year. What are the odds he is back?

Looks like a tackle and defensive tackles will be the priority in the portal as it stands right now. Doesn’t look like there’s a day 1 starter at LT on the roster. Other than Marcus Moore the DT depth is very thin. Minus unforeseen portal departures, there seems to be a good core.

It was on Toledo’s last touchdown. Looked like miscommunication and Reed had a couple PI’s beforehand. I didn’t see them shoving but having an emotional discussion. Joe talked to him and when White got hurt, Reed went back in and Joe gave him a point of confidence.
