  1. You can say what you want about Mike Reghi being cliche, but what sports announcer isnt cliche...I mean baseball announcers have their phrases they repeat over and over, other basketball announcers do the same...so whateveryou were referring to, be it repeated phrases or something else regardless of all that I would listen to Mike Reghi commentate a game over Dick Vitale any day...Dick Vitale has the most annoying voice ever, and you wanna talk about cliche, that's a textbook example of cliche...I hate Dick Vitale, can't stand him...I talked to Mike Reghi in person last year after the OU game at BW3, and he is one of the nicest if not the nicest guys to talk to...he didn't have to come and sit with a bunch of college students but he did, and it was awesome...bottom line Reghi's the man
  2. hey everyone needs to calm down...its a freakin t-shirt design...a t-shirt, what is wrong with taking ideas for t-shirts??...personally i think its pretty clever...yeah the mastercard thing might be overdone, but its good...and we are looking ahead...its a t-shirt for NEXT year
  3. kinda superstitious...but some of us cheered on and wanted miami to beat toledo, and they came back and beat us...i say we shouldnt cheer for our rivals, it comes back to bite us...dont get me wrong i understand cheering for the ONE mac team in the tournament to show our love because we were under-represented...but i dont think its a good thing to cheer on our conference rivals...thats just me (any of you cheering on miami dont take it the wrong way im slightly superstitious)
  4. well its no ESPN, but the beacon has an article about the snub...my favorite part is when the author calls our snub "bureaucratic attention deficit"...well here it ishttp://www.ohio.com/mld/ohio/sports/168862...nel=ohio_sportssorry not sure how to make this a link
  5. the only thing im holding onto now, is that there will be an explanation within the next 2 days...ill give them 2 days...ideally we should expect something tomorrow, but ill give another day because im a nice guy...if we dont hear anything after two days or more...then obviously we know weve been snubbed, lied to, and snubbed again...i still cant believe that guy on espnu said we were in...and then we werent...how can he not know we werent...i still cant believe that went down this weekend...so much for taking clock malfunctions into consideration eh??
  6. sorry got a little over-zealous there...the rape comment crossed the line...but you can understand why im as angry as i am
  7. so ive heard all this crap post selection from the ncaa selection committee members that i dont know what to believe anymore...first they say that strength of schedule and rpi are factors, prior to the selection...THEY HAVE THOSE STATS FOR A REASON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...if youre not gonna account for those stats, dont have them...then post selection they say they had everyone as independents or w/e...they didnt account for conference they said...they didnt sccount for strength of schedule they said...they didnt account for rpi they said...but then they say well oh this team played some tough teams, and yah they didnt win their conference title, but man they played some tough competitors...but we dont take into consideration strength of schedule...then they say oh this team is in a tough conference, wow that is conference is tight...they may have had a losing conference record, but wow what a conference...but we dont take into account what conference a team is from...screw you ncaa, and screw you nit...we have a better record than all the teams in the ncaa and nit...minus like 2 or 3 or 4 teams...there is a team in the nit with an 18-15 record...i dont care if they are autobids...i dont care...a 26 win season...not since 1985 did a team with 26 wins not go to postseason...i dont know what crock of crap the ncaa selection committee will say next...oh it doesnt matter if you win your conference title, we take into account regular season...well obviously not...we got raped way too many times...if a woman got raped as much as we did, the guy that raped her would be sentenced to death
  8. ok so how gay is it that akron finally got coverage on the mac tournament when this crap happened...throughout the whole tournament nothing...just our names scrolling across the screen...shame on you espn, shame on you...you show vermont, albany, cal polly, i mean what other crappy teams...and youre gonna leave us out, not cool...out of all our good moments of the season and you guys pick this one...you just figuratively took a dump on our chests and cleveland steamered us...as for the game...i saw one good review of the events on channel 61...they had a stop watch type clock that counted how long it took them to start the clock...their clock said it took them 1.5 seconds to start it after it shouldve started...ok so 1.5...then the game clock which was on the bottom right hand corner of the screen read 1.7(ish) when loser threw up the circus shot...HOWEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...they nicely pointed out that the clock above the basket read 1.4 seconds...ok so 1.7 minus 1.5 = .2...but 1.4 minus 1.5 = yes a negative number...one logical solution to the equasion...AKRON WINS!!!!!...granted cedric missed the free throw...we cant do anything about that...what happened with the clocks, happened...something has to be done about what happened (but was done poorly)...something cant be done about a missed free throw...my only problem is, everyone is saying..."oh its human error oh well"...NO!!!!!...saying it was human error, is admitting theyre wrong but they wont do anything about it...a person running the game clock has to be on the ball...they cant be..."oh sorry i was checkin out the chick in row 6, sorry i forgot to start the clock"...a clock person has to be on the ball...they have to know when to start and stop the clock as well...this is unacceptable...the committee, god bless em...i know theyve been in their room for 20+ hours...but they better be reviewing the crap outta this...they better be slowin it down a crap ton...everyone of them better have a stopwatch, and extra clocks to review it...they better be talkin to ncaa personell, they better talk to the league officail...they better be talkin to the mac league official, and they better get on the phone or personally talk to the refs about how they came to their conclusion...talk to other officials and see what they wouldve done...once they come to the conclusion that THEY WERE WRONG...which they are...fix the situation, find a solution...if this has never happened before now, then now is the time to assess the situation and fix it...it may have never happened before, but it just DID happen...screw you espn for this showing this crap, and not even showing our win against cant...something must be done about this...its as simple as that
  9. all good things are being discussed...i agree with everything were saying...as for shot selection, the 3's bothered me as well...yeah we hit a couple clutch ones...but sometimes i felt like we were settling for them...its never good to settle for anything, especially in a game like that, where every basket counts...one of the things i liked was that we crahsed the boards last night, if we can continue that during the tournie it would greatly help us...turnovers cant be an issue at the tournie, those will make or break us...foul shooting got a lil better, but needs more improvement...we hit some clutch ones tho...i think well be in good sahpe for the tournie, as long as we stay confident, but dont think our games will be easy
  10. what about the call when the ball went out of bounds on the opposite of the court across from the benches...the ref went to signal to the zips, and mid arm throw stopped, and threw his arm in the direction of the flushes...what was up with that????...it was apparent he had his mind up that he was gonna give possession to the zips, and then got scared or something...i mean just b/c youre in front of a bunch of cant fans shouldnt affect anything...ill be honest, i was on the opposite side of the arena, up behind the flushes bench...so i was pretty far away, and i havent seen a replay...but all im saying is, i saw clearly something awry with the ref and his call...it looked like it was knocked out by cant, but like i said i was pretty far away
  11. did anyone see the call where the ball went out of bounds, and the ref went to throw his arm in our direction...he stopped mid throw, and reversed the call...i mean what is the deal???...is he afraid because hes standing in front of all Can't fans...i mean it was like he had his mind made up, and changed it for some reason...i thought that was bs...the refs need to stop playing to the home team, or a certain...they need to call the game like it is, fair and even...no team gets any advantage, but dont screw a team over either...there were other calls where it looked like the ref was ready to call a foul before it happened...an odd game, but a good win...no more OT though, my heart cant take it
  12. actually lebron has come to some of the guys practices this year, and is really close with the ua program...seeing as how coach d was his coach in high school...lebron is close with dru, romeo, and j wood...they grew up together...and i missed that whole having sex with anyone he wants, havent heard anything about that...having a professional close with your program i think is a good thing...for instance peyton manning and tennessee...a big time school...even though peyton plays football, he gave the bball team a pep talk before one of their last games...the florida tennessee game actually...having someone like peyton be close to their athletics department will help them, and pump them up...everyone knows lebron, and some of our players are real close with him...im sure having their BEST friend at the game made dru, rome, and j wood feel good about themselves...im sure all the ua players appreciated having him and a lot of the other cavs squad show up...that was real nice of them, they didnt have to do that...lebron didnt even have to come...he did, and he was cheering us on...im sure he appreciates it when some of our players go and watch him play at the q...a program moving forward doesnt always have to be because the ball goes in the hoop...this is a good thing for our program, and i hope it continues in the future
  13. all i can say coach kest is just the person to get the lady zips started off in a good direction...ill admit i cant stand women sports, i did go to 1 game...their first conference win...coach kest is just the coach to turn things around
  14. yeah i forgot about conyers my bad...if he can step up i think hell be ok...on the court he looks hesitant a lot...like if hes handling the ball...im sure in his head he knows what to do, just has trouble executing...he would be a good 2g, i dont think he has the confidence to be point...and for recruiting, maybe focus on recruiting more for guards, or small forwards...we have some good guys who be power forwards on centers, hopefully bardo will be a force to be reconned with...maybe focus on recruiting a little smaller for the future, or some mid-size guys...it seems thats where were losing the most players over the next couple years...mcnees and bardo are a couple gig guys, good potential centers and post players
  15. one possibility could be that we interest players from other schools to come here instead...if we put together a couple of good seasons, we might be able to draw in some other players from other schools...i know it doesnt happen very often, but its a definite possibility...also for the point guard i would like to see us pick up a true point guard instead of converting a 2 guard to a point guard...if thats not possibe we could convert a couple of our players to point guards...someone quick fast, good ball handling skills...goddard might be a good candidate for that position, or sallee perhaps...sallee is a little on the short side, but both look like quick players, and they can always improve and hone their ball handling skills...it would be best if we could convert 2 players to pg...goddard and someone else...that way goddard could be a shooting guard, and work his magic...or he could be pg and fit in that way too...what do ya think??
  16. kinda off topic...what time are the rowdies meeting to get ready to leave for the cant game??
  17. ok ya got me...i didnt do my research, and what happened...it bit me in the butt...i am not a rowdy hater...i never said i was...im done talking about this, there are bigger things to worry about right now...we have cant coming up, who i hope we kick the crap outta them...then we have the mac tournie...didnt think there would be this much craze over one or two posts...thank you for ripping me apart...i wouldve done the same, ive learned my lesson...i realize its a discussion forum, and we all express our opinions...GO ZIPS!!!
  18. so if rybak looks like a one-legged cat etc, etc...what the HE!! is so special about your high and almighty peanut butter boy...he is on scholarship too...what makes him so special...the fact that he shoots from half court throughout his entire warmup...the boy might need some schooling about where to shoot from...last i saw he shoots from out of bounds sometimes during warmups...i think rybak knows whats in bounds and out of bounds...the toledo game...we sent our 3 point specialist into the game, yes nick goddard...they checked him in...i wasnt on the floor but i think they were lookin to him to shoot a game tying 30-40 footer...we came up short...a littler different when youre in a game...ya got hands in your face...defenders all over you...im a short guy too...its intimidating when guys who are 6' or more standing over you...i never said anything in my first post about we should praise him, or...D@MN!!!! did you see rybak stroking those jumpers...whoo that boy can play...I DIDNT SAY ANY OF THAT...all i said was...a lot of people on here say, things like rybak is a one legged cat etc, etc...or rybak has no business on the court...who are any of you, to say who belongs on a basketball court or not...last i checked theyre the ones who are playing college basketball...theyre the ones who are receiving scholarships, to play college basketball...i dont see any of us out there, myself included, out there on the court doing what these guys do...if you all dont like rybak, maybe you need to talk to coach d...since you all know who should be out there...if coach d didnt think rybak was gonna contribute, i would have to think rybak wouldnt be here...because when you say bad things about players, youre saying bad things about the coach as far as im concerned...i didnt say we should stop cheering for romeo, or dru, or dials, or quade, or j wood...and if i recall, i didnt say anything about we need to go to soccer games, or tennis games, or swim meets...skhorbotly, where did you pull that from...bottom line, those guys are out there doing things none of us can do...im speeking for myself at least...if any of you can dunk over guys who are 6'3", then i apologize...if any of you can hold your own under a full court press, a defense bearing down on you...then i apologize...i have a lot of respect for all of those guys, goddard included, and dont tell me i dont...i have respect for all of them, because theyre doin something i cant...who are you to tell any one of those guys if they should be playing or not...if they have any business on the court...thats up to the coach...none of us...again, i have respect for the whole team, and will cheer for the WHOLE team...rybak hitting a couple 3's in the duquesne game has nothing to do with this...i dont know, this is what i think...bottom line rybak has a game jersey and game shorts...we dont
  19. I dont care what anyone says, I stand behind John Rybak as a basketball player...I am a little disappointed in some of the Ak Rowdies...I know we have our favorite players, pretty much the starting five: dials, romeo, j wood, dru, quade, linhart...and goddard...its nice to have your favorite players, and i must say its awesome to watch them play...however theyre not gonna be here forever, im pretty the ncaa has a rule about how long one can play college basketball...rybak seems to be a fundamentally sound player...and yeah he makes some not so great passes on the court, and last night i think he had a couple of turnovers...no one bashes dru joyce when he threw up an airball and a couple bricks from behind the arc...but felt the need to keep on shootin 3's...cause thats all we want, 3's, 3's, 3's...down the road rybak is gonna be a player that will contribute a lot to this team...goddard too, but all i see him as, is a 3 point specialist...nothing wrong with that, every team has one...and how would you like it if youre rybak sittin on the bench, like many other players...and gettin talked to, taunted, tellin him he needs to pass the ball to goddard...by his own fans!...you need to appreciate everyone on team...it doesnt matter if ya think he looks dumb in a jersey, if ya think his girlfriend is ugly, if ya think his shoes are dumb...i stand behind rybak and all the other players some rowdies dont wanna see play...i cheer for rybak now, and i will cheer for rybak in the future
  20. heres a little tid bit of information for ya...anybody recall the 1986 NCAA tournament???...beuler?...beuler???...anyone?...anyone???...didnt think so!!!!!...lemme help ya out...1985-86 season the Cleveland State Vikings, yes CSU, were selected as the number 14 seed in the NCAA tournament...first round they were paired against Bobby Knight's Hoosier's...the number 3 seed mind you...everyone doubted them, but themselves...those vikings knocked off the 3 seeded hoosier's: 83-79...ok so they got lucky...now to the round of 32, the 14 seeded vikings now faced st joes...ehh nothin to it, 75-69 win , and on to the round of 16...the 14 seeded vkings were one 16 teams left...they faced Navy, led by center david robinson, who went to play for the san antonio spurs...the vikings unfortunately fell to navy, 71-70...but what a season...now ya see...a horizon league team...horizon league...the vikings made it to the sweet 16 of the ncaa tournie...if they can do it, why not us...if ya dont believe, it wont happen...the zips find ways to win...now foul shooting is a problem im not gonna say its not...but despite our free throw troubles we found a way to win on saturday...and as the game progressed the foul shooting got somewhat better...is it where it needs to be, no...but a win is a win is a win...ill take them any way we get them...but ya gotta believe somewhat, that were gonna pull it off...if we get some momentum goin with us to the Q, we at leats give ourselves a shot...i have no doubt in my head what will take place at the Q...i wont write it out cause i dont wanna jinx it...but for christs sake believe or dont show upwe dont want ya if ya dont have faith
