How many QB's have we have verbal over the last 2 years that have ended up flipping? It seems that TB gets them to verbal and then when others come calling they flip.

Thanks for linking that. I miss the RB. My dad took us to the Acme-Zip game every year when I was a kid. Probably the best memories I have of that time. We'd go early for the soccer game and look forward to the sun going down so we weren't blinded. The fireworks and parachute guys were great. How could we sell out the RB every year but can't come close at Info?

Yea, It is only one writer. But obviously he knows something. Hopefully is wrong but usually they don't pull this crap out of thin air.

Actually the crystal balls are pretty accurate. Not 100% accurate, but they have some inside knowledge. I don't have a good feeling on this one.

We have selling points at every position other than QB. And even there, we don't have depth. I say we start poaching some of those Bama 5* recruits that want to play right away..

I agree that is promising. Again, are all of those schools listed offers or just who he is looking at or may have interest in him?

I think what some are missing is that UA doesn't announce the verbals. The players do and then the recruiting sites pick it up. All of the other schools that have verbal commitments are not telling these sites that they have them. The players share with the recruiting people in their area. Do you really think that TB is just great at keeping secrets where no other team in the county is? LOL.

It is the norm and it needs to change. I love having the 5th year guys and transfers to fill some holes, but I don't think you can build a sustained program like that. 3-4 of those per class is one thing, half your class of those is too much IMHO.

It is so awesome seeing pictures of Akron football players celebrating a big win. We need to see a lot more of this...

Balsy, I am not worried. I am merely discussing recruiting. This is a forum for discussion and I am discussing. Or as Ray Farmer would say, I am conversating.....

We still have 3 verbals. Dead period doesn't matter. It's been a dead period for those that have 20 + verbals also. Hopefully you are right and after the dead period we will start getting higher rated players. Not sure how anyone can say we don't need many players. For the most part recruiting isn't for the very next season, it's for the future. Unless someone is a complete stud, he won't contribute much his true freshman year anyway. I would much more prefer to see RS freshman and sophs and up on our depth chart and not true freshman. if we don't get them now, the next class will still be freshman. You need a pipeline of players coming in to be successful. TB seems to sign some guys and gets credit for the recruits. Then they don't play and he mentions them again the next season as new recruits again. I have followed recruiting nationally for a very long time and have never, ever seen anyone do that like he does. The truly good players don't grey shirt. They don't need to because they have multiple offers out there. The players that Akron can greyshirt are mostly players that had Akron as their only or best offer. If you want to see how good a recruit is, look at who else has offered them a scholly. Not who else is interested, but who actually offered them. If Akron is their best offer then that should tell you something. I know we won't get players offered by Florida or Bama or Clemson or Michigan, but we should be able to beat out Cincy, lower level B1G and higher MAC schools for players. We don't do that much. Hopefully it changes, but we will have to wait and see.

WE have 3 HS verbals and one of those may go to Illinois. I don't understand. I am not sure how much the bowl win will help this year being so late in the process. If we have a good season next season then it will help a lot. But if we revert back to crap with all of our starter losses, it won't matter much. The bowl win got some attention, but we need to get there again next season to convince guys we are for real

NLOID is early next month. Quiet period ends on the 15th. We should hear things after that. Things will start heating up in 2 weeks.

On the transfers are those guys that are elegible in 2016 or still have to sit out a year?

I have seen the Zips win mentioned on other boards also. It was huge. Now we need to follow it up with another one next year. One game opens eyes, but 2 will keep them open.
