  1. Yeah I agree completely. I want to see more stuff like that ROO TOWN siding on the Indoor Practice facility.I think it would be cool to put on the face of the bridge going over Route 8 at the Carroll St. Exit. Maybe another ROO TOWN sign covering the whole thing. It can't be that expensive and like B&G said, it puts UA in the minds of everyone who drives by.I agree. We need to get the name out to fans that want to see DI football.
  2. I think that Bye is going tobe a little tougher than you give them credit for.
  3. I totally agree. Players are usually more interested in who is the Head Coach and the overall University. Assistants come and go and you don't see players attempting to transfer. With the success of KD, I believe we still have a shot at getting Payne. In my experiences, this is why I have emphasized previously that I will always be shocked if I see a situation where a potential recruit makes an asst. coach the make-or-break factor in a decision to attend a particular school.Larry Johnson SR, at Penn State, recruits guys to come play for him. He gets many of the recruits that PSU gets.
  4. Yeah, that guy went to multiple boards braggin up his son and saying how interested he was in the school. What a DB
  5. If inside LB is his position, he should do very well at the D-III level. A 5' 10" ILB at the D-I level is not good for the Zips. Thanks for the info, Hilltopper!!But I have to agree with GP1's assessment. A 5'10" inside linebacker can't play at Akron. An inside backer @ Akron's level should be in the 6'2"-ish, 230-ish range. I think this again gives us a little glimpse into the area's general assumptions about The University of Akron's program. It's just not taken seriously... yet. For someone to think a 5'10" kid can play inside linebacker @ Akron, or at the D-1 level in general, is to neither grasp nor understand the level of ball you see played @ Akron. Hopefully this crappy and uninformed perception of our program changes drastically over the next decade. I saw this uninformed assumption a handful of times in Stark County while I was @ Malone College. A kid is a really good high school player (read, D-111 college material) and people think he's too good to play at Akron. It used to really tick me off. It still does! Now Howard being a 5'10" 210 RB is alright. I disagree with the height being a big issue-no pun intended.Buster Davis, AA at FSU a few years ago was in the 5-10-5-11 range. Dat Nguyen, from Texas A&M back in the 90's won the Butkus award. There are many others too. If the guy can play, the guy can play.
  6. I feel that another part that many posters don't think about is the athlete looking at their future as far as being drafted. Many times you will hear about a player at a mid major that is criticised because he didn't face elite talent?I may be wrong, but UA has not had a player drafted higher than the 3rd round of the NFL draft. Most of the elite programs not only have guys drafted higher every year, but some have multiple first round picks every year.If you don't think that a potential student athlete looks at that, you are mistaken. They choose where they are going to play football just like the rest of us look at what school we are going to based on our major. I know I will get bashed for this, but Although I went to UA and OSU, if Harvard would have offered me a full ride, I would have taken it in a heartbeat. A degree from Harvard looks much better on an application that UA and OSU.Not all players go their favorite team, they go where they feel they will get the best chance to go the next level.
  7. Very true. However, they will then use the excuse of it was a meaningless game and they played all their players, etc....
  8. Wow, my memory really sucks...
  9. Exactly my point in the earlier post. Back then we weren't really a threat to those teams. Now we are.AS backhanded as it sounds, them not wanting to play us is almost a compliment.
  10. I doubt that will happen. Unlike football, Akron can put a major scare into a big time team. I fully accept UA to upset someone major in the near future. That is if we ever get the chance. No big school will schedule a mid-major that has a chance to win. They only schedule the ones they know they can beat.It sucks, but that is the way it is....
  11. Yes it sucks that we are losing a good coach. However, there is a positive. It means UA is more respected and their assistants are considered top notch guys. Major programs lose asistants all the time. In football it seems that USC loses their OC every year. That happens to good teams.
  12. Good luck to coach Boals. He will be missed. I hope his leaving doesn't affect any of the young players that are close to him...I assume that the players sign on to play for the head coach, not the assistant. However, this sounds like he was the main force.
  13. I think that if you took a poll of how many players had Akron as their first choice you would be very surprised.A lot of guys go to the mid majors because it is their best offer. If you honestly believe that most of the players on this team wouldn't rather be at a BCS school, I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.Not trying to be negative, just realistic.
  14. Howard is a great back. He would be a very nice get for the Zips.
  15. I agree. It gives the place a classier look too.
  16. That sounds like a new Info tradition right there. We'll simply refer to it as the "Bob Knight". Oh, and don't forget to tie on your soccer scarf before you throw your seat!Perhaps instead of a scarf we should call it an ascot. That sounds much less gay..NTTIAWWT.
  17. or they could just draw lines in the mud and play REAL football!! It would be just like the old Cleveland stadium.
  18. That sounds like a new Info tradition right there.
  19. He has tons of talent. He just never gets to show it.
  20. Maybe they should have changed them to Jalapeno......on a stick...
  21. Davis. I want to see the stuff
  22. I can't handle the truth
  23. I did notice that. That made me wonder whether Columbus State doctors their figures because from all the reports I've heard their crowd was lame when we beat them in Columbus. In fact, the story was that our Rowdies outnumbered their students... in Columbus! When did we ever play Columbus State in Soccer? I am confused. Columbus State is a community college. I didn't even know they had a soccer team..Sorry, it wasn't Columbus State. It was The Columbus State University. Still confused...Sorry...The Columbus State University...Never heard of them.you are wayy too cool for this board dude.I may have never heard of us playing Columbus State, but I do recognize sarcasm...
