I know I will get bashed for this because I am always so critical of the recruiting and the retention here, but he is ranked # 141 in the state according to the article by Rasor. 141...I know the rankings aren't everything, but you would think that the new stadium would help us recruit mostly top 50 in the state. Just because we get a commit, doesn't make him a star.
-
So 3 of the top rated players in the class are already gone...
-
I have been curious about the safety position. We seem to be able to recruit some CB but don't recruit many solid safeties for some reason. Our last good safety is now a WR.

That guy must be installing the hidden missile defense system to protect all of the secret information that resides in "Area Stairwell" And yet more work on it - I believe this is the titanium and gold inlay going in? (maybe as a precursor to testing the titanium bridge). By the way I was in North Carolina over the weekend and checked out the stadiums at ECU, UNC, NCSU and Duke. Though smaller the Info looks just as nice as any of them and is way better than Wallace Wade Stadium at Duke.

True, but each time it has always started that guys just didn't initially make it. Then they end up never seeing the field.I hope this is different, but history tells us differently.

I think it's good news. we seem to have some decent LB depth. Thomas is a good player and then Fobbs and Williams both got some playing time last year. I am looking forward to seeing more of Troy Gilmore and Matt Little. Of course there is still the enigma-Da'von Moore...

Thanks for the update. Not very often you read about freshman just quitting. To have 2 in the same year is strange.Any word on Couch?
-
I know Bain, Allen and Martin all missed the scrimmage. Was that just to be cautious and not want to risk further injury, or are they still injured and missing practice too?

Thank you for posting. Great pics.

If Jamaica can have a bobsled team…It is pretty funny to think that they were racing bobsleds before they were playing American football.Cool Runnings....Good movie.

You Browns fans are funny. A guy flunks out....the coach stinks. A guy misses field goals....his coach stinks. A player continues to throw ints in the red zone....the coach stinks. At what point are the players to blame? The players are adults getting paid (yes, a scholarship is real money worth thousands a year) and they need to start earning their money. One thing I know for sure. We are on our third coach in the D-1A era and one thing remains the same....the PLAYERS don't perform in key situations over and over again. Let's fire the coach though....I'm sure the fourth coach can solve it. If not, we'll hire a fifth coach. If the Zips don't win at least seven games this year, I'll be the first one to open the door for JD to leave. At some point, the players themselves must start to perform. Coaches don't really get coaches fired unless they get caught having sex with female interns, etc. It's the players that get them fired. If the Zips don't win at least seven games this year with the talent on that team, it is the fault of the players and not the coaches. JD will pay the price, but that is just the way it goes in sports. Maybe we are just a losing program and the players themselves have passed on losing from one generation to another. Many will say that if you peel our onion of losing, there is more to the problem when you get through the various layers. In my experience, things are almost always as they appear to be. When you peel an onion, you get more onion. When we peel the onion of our losing, we just get more onion. We tried new coaches and the onion remains the same. New ADs and the onion remains the same. New fieldhouse and the onion remains the same. We'll see if the next layer of onion, the new stadium, reveals anything other than more onion this coming season. No coach in the world can change the onion. The best thing we have going for us is we are part of an even worse onion in the MAC. Try peeling that onion since 1948........Uhhh, I asked did his coach suck. I didn't say his coach sucked. There is a big difference...Could you at least have the balls to stand behind what you write? We all know what you mean, so do what the Great GP1 has done for years and stand behind what you write. Honest to God, your comment reminds me of a guy who farts in a crowded room, blames it on someone else and then lecturers the room on the evils of farting in a crowded room.Nice try at attempting to defend your reading comprehension. However, I asked a question. You may be able to speak for everybody by saying, "we all", but you don't speak for me.Get over yourself.

It is interesting when talking about team captains, Alex Allen comes up first (not a surprise) then JD made a comment about 4 OL and named a few others. Jacq wasn't one of them. For a QB who is going to be a 3rd year starter and is a senior, I was surprised. That is pretty telling.

Why is Igor getting worse each year? Does his coach suck or what?He was good as a Fresh, not as good as a soph and now he seems to be starting off this year badly.

7 Members of 2009 Class are Missing From Roster
Buckzip replied to Buckzip's topic in Akron Zips Football
Why do you put so much faith in the GoZips.com roster? GoZips.com still lists Mack Rhoades as our athletic director! You posts, w/emoticon, reming me of an old joke,A guy is beating his head against a brick wall. Guy #2 walks up to him and asks "Why are you beating your head against a brick wall?"Guy #1 says -- "Because it feels so good when I stop."Good question. I don't put all faith in GOZips.com. I have said on multiple occasions, that I feel the site is pretty bad. However, can they really be off by 7 guys? -
I thought JD improved this stuff. Well, I guess only losing 7 players from a class is improved from a couple years back.I guess Gozips.com could just be missing names, but it's doubtful they are missing all of them.AndersonBrandtCouchDelmonicoDillardHomayedLaFrance

I thought Allen and Marrtin were both supposedly ready to go...

What about Brandt?

Syracuse has 27 players leave team in the offseason
Buckzip replied to ZachTheZip's topic in Akron Zips Football
I am sure his dad is out pimping his son to other message boards right now. He was on all kinds of boards saying how interested his son was in each of the schools. -
Davis isn't on the roster. Does anyone know the story here? He was looking good in the spring. It would be so nice if we had some insider type people here. I just hate it when names vanish from the roster and we never know why...Brandt, Couch, Davis, and that is just what I have noticed so far...
-
Actually Brandt isn't even on the roster they show now. Was he having grade problems?
-
Thanks for the pics. Those of us that are far away can't get enough of this.

Yeah it says 2009 roster as of 8-7-09 and it is the 2008 roster.

I'm one of the posters who is disappointed they changed from the design of have five poles on top of the east side stand and went with three poles behind the stands. I still think the five pole look would have been better. But, that's my opinion. I've seen more pictures and angles and I've since said it looks fine and I'm little disappointedBut, all of us here who posted are disappointment based that on the decision to change from the original graphic design they rolled out in August 2007. Nobody said anything about steel pole or the other colorful comments you choose to use. Our disappointment is they showed us design in August 2007 we all loved and made a major change some of us are not crazy about. That's doesn't mean we hate the overall project and I know I surely don't because of one feature I'm not crazy about. I also don't think it fair we're getting slammed just becasued we expressed disappointment on IMO what was major change and they never said why they choose to change that.I still love the Info overall and it light years better then the crappy 69 year old Rubber Bowl.Well said. I love the overpall project. I just would love it more if they stuck with what they originally showed us.

Then you'll be not impressed with many scoreboards around the country.I've been to dozens of college campuses across the country and you'll find open spaces, gaps backsides that are crap. Many schools have the team emblem on the back of scoreboard on similar material UofA is using. TV has funny way of making some Jumbotrons better looking then they actually are in person. They're replacing the ones in Georgia Dome this season and the multi-million dollars one they're replacing were not all that fancy looking in person. What we have is light years better then what we had and couple gaps that common in big boards and tacky backside is not going to spoil what I feel is awesome scoreboard compared to that piece of crap at the Rubber Bowl.First off, I have been to many other stadiums and have seen much nicer scoreboards.Second, I don't care about mny other scoreboards. This is not what was on the early displays, and it is not nearly as classy as those. It doesn't look like a new scoreboard to me.
