I have no problem playing YSU. Akron should win, we shouldn't NOT play them because they might beat us. It would be another rivalry game, and if the crowd would be as good as advertised, that is a good thing for the program! What's the deal with Zippy's shoes?!?
-
I've got it! We need 2 huge Earth Mover tires, and an axle in between. This will eliminate the chance they fall over and squash someone! We could have a winch in each endzone, so we could roll it back and forth across the field!
-
Here's my wish list:1) PLEASE PUT OUT A QUALITY CD WITH THE FIGHT SONG, ETC. SO I CAN PLAY IT ON THE WAY TO THE GAME AND AT THE TAILGATE!!!2) PLEASE PUT OUT A QUALITY CD WITH THE FIGHT SONG, ETC. SO I CAN PLAY IT ON THE WAY TO THE GAME AND AT THE TAILGATE!!!3) TIRE DRUM YES!!!!!!!!!!!!! We need one of the huge earth mover tires, but it would probably ruin the turf! Get the cheerleaders to pull it across the field......what would happen if it fell over????? 4) NO Script Zips. Total ripoff. We can come up with our own traditions.5) Rowdies need a rallying cry! Nothing dumb.....we already have too much of that! When the new stadium is built.....something definately needs to be done the night before a game!

OK, well, in general, I'm frustrated that the "Big" schools get to play 7 home games a year, and we and other "Little" schools get screwed with 4 or 5. I think there should be a rule. No more than 6 home games with the exception of "Post Season" like confrence championship games, etc. I know, this will never happen. As for Akron, I think what gets me the most frustrated, as an Out of Town season ticket holder, is scheduling games on weekdays. I drive a LONG WAY (4 hours) to see home games, and again, this year, I'm going to going to get screwed out of one, maybe two games! So, if the Cleveland game is covered in my season tickets this year, that means I can't make up to 40% of the games......and how are we supposed to tailgate???? The MAC totally screwed us in BB this year, why do we continue to bend over for them and ESPN???? We'll just get dumped for reruns of Poker Tournaments anyway!I'm not impressed with Mack so far. Nothing on the BB Team getting screwed, another crappy FB schedule, jacking up parking at the RB...WTF!

Kinda pathetic to hear Zips fans complaining about having to drive an hour to see a game. I think the Cleveland Game is a good idea.....IF it's done right! I've always felt that we need to capture our market. IMO, Cleveland is OUR Market. Glad we did this before Can't did. We need to establish Akron as the top School in NE Ohio. Early in the year, hopefully good weather, football hungry fans in Cleveland. We need:PR: Need to put up a couple billboards in Cleveland this summer advertising the event. Get Charlie to make a couple drops about the game.Good ticket price: Introduce fans to the bargain that Akron really is!Akron Fan Presence: Need to have a good tailgating turnout prior to the game. Let the people in town know that this actually is college football. Give the students free bus rides to the game and also offer the bus/game package from the U for the die hard Akron fans. Rowdies/Oldies get the Dawg Pound (Which, we'll have to rename for that game....."The Pouch" sounds dumb).Win: First game, no excuses.

Don't Romeo and Dru know somebody famous? Hmmmmm......... I bet King James could get some attention if he made a statement about this entire debacle! People might stop talking about their golf game, or the Suckeyes for a minute.

Bad idea to have the Gov't get involved in anything. I will gladly accept that feeling of getting kicked in the balls by a mule the past two nights if it keeps the Gov't out of college athletics.

WOW. Initially, I thought all this discussion was over the fact we didn't get into the NCAA tourney. WTF happened to the NIT???This single act may ruin college sports for me entirely. Not that I doubted it before, but this is blatant, undeniable statement that NCAA Athletics are not about "Student Athletes", but rather, it is about making money. The few, token, small schools were the thin vail they hid behind to say it was about the kids. Obviously NOBODY, not our confrence, not even the people of NE Ohio which this University services is going to support us. They will all say "That's a shame" and watch the Suckeyes. What to do.....here are a couple of idea.1) Put the number #26 on every U of A jersey and piece of athletic apparel sold next season in protest. Everyone will wonder what it stands for. WTF are they gonna do? Not show us on TV? Not that we aren't pimped out, screwing over out of town fans like yours truely, with Tuesday and Thursday night fooball games for ESPN and the MAC office. This is the most tasteful one I have. 2) Refuse to put a MAC or NCAA logo on any U of A apparel, athletic field, court, etc. Probably some clause out there against this, but F'em! 3) Organize a protest outside of the MAC offices. The Cleveland media would eat this up!WARNING: THE NEXT STATEMENT IS COMPLETELY REDICULOUS, BUT, SO IS THIS ENTIRE SITUATION:4) Next BB game we have scheduled on National TV, we should take the court, let them throw up the tip-off, and walk off the court, forfeit. Does it matter? We were just screwed out of a national tourney, and nobody cares. F the national media and if we're lucky, it would be against a "Power Confrence" team. That would get some attention, say we aren't gonna be pushed around, and put a lot of egg on the face of some of those who are partially responsible for this, or simply turned the other way! That last one felt good!

Looking back on the past 13 years as a Zip fan......things are pretty damn good right now!

Please elaborate more on the rumor about the "AK-Oldies". If someone is putting something together, I'm in!

BOTTOM LINEWe left the door open, and Miami took advantage of it. Had we slamed it shut, we wouldn't be having this discussion. We shouldn't need to rely on someone else to get us to the Tourney.I'm not blaming any of the players or coaches,... or anyone. They all approached this season in a very frank manner. Went to work, and did their best all season. The clock doesn't matter. Their is no way the refs could have accurately determined how much time rolled off the clock and not had everyone sitting there for 3 hours. You can't rerun the play, you can't call a T on Miami when the clock says 0:00. IMO, the refs did us a favor by putting 0.6 sec. back on the clock. Miami did what they needed and got it done. I hope they do well in the tourney to justify multiple MAC bids in future seasons. We're off to the NIT, where I hope the Zips use this as fuel to make a LONG run in that Tourney!Go Zips!

This goes down with Big Ben's pass as another example of how Miami always seems to get the bounce, roll, the extra 2 sec. whatever against us!
-
I'm gonna barf
-
We need every point right now. Got to hit our FT.
-
Miami just keeps hanging around. We need to keep pounding it inside
-
Wood is a MONSTER!
-
NICE DUNK!! Miami has me worried with these 3's though.
-
Man, slow game. If the Zips can just start hitting a few of their shots, this thing would be blown wide open.
-
I don't have Cable TV bu, ironically, I have cable internet.

Found the game video broadcast on ESPN 360http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/ivp/in...mode=champsweek

Sounds like everyone is pretty tired. Nate appears to finally be shaking off the shiner from 2 days ago, and getting back in the mix. Keep opening up the lead.
-
Apparently I'm the only sorry @$$ at home listening to the game right now. Thought video would be broadcast like the last few games, apparently not. Zips are raining 3's right now. Good game.
-
WOW! That really shows how strong this team is! Best BB game I've seen in a LONG time! (I had to listen last week!)

Comeon Dru!

Didn't someone say something about free throws at the beginning of the thread?
