  1. The fact that the average price point for Akron Football, reserved seat is only $13. Adult GA is $11, Faculty/Staff is $10, and Family Plan is only $4.95 per person, per game. There is no doubt that this is a great deal. No one has ever questioned that. The question is why do you drop your season ticket prices by $20 after you have already put them on sale, refund cash, then decide to jack parking through the roof for what would be a pretty low number of people who are already your top givers to the University?
  2. So I get a call telling me I paid too much for my tickets but now I get a letter telling me that I have to pay more for my parking? At least I got kissed before they gave it too me in the ass. This is the kind of action that either unites a fan base behind the team or fractures it for a generation. I think this is the 2006 equivalent of firing Jim Dennison and hiring Gerry Faust. Every time we get to a good place someone has to come in and screw it up at here it happens every 20 years. 1986 - 2006. This is pretty easy to sidestep because I will just pay my $5 and park 50 feet farther away. We get nothing for our money out of this deal but to save 50 feet of walking. I don't mind the extra exercise and will down more homebrew in the grass to make up for the extra walking. The funny thing will be seeing all of the empty spaces around the top of the bowl where these big time parking spaces will be bare. My money says we will get a letter from Rhodes this week telling us this is another typo just like the kids ticket was on the order form.
  3. Looks awesome where can I get one?
  4. I think the bowl trip would have gone a lot more smoothly had the athletic deprtment run the trips too but you are wrong that it was their choice to allow the Alumni Association to run the trip. That decision was made by the VP for Development who oversees both alumni and fundraising. Athletics was working shortstaffed with the resignation of the old ticket manager coming the day after the MACC game and the balance of the athletics staff was in Dearborn five days before the MCB game and not in Akron where they could run the bus trip. The Alumni Association has always handled larger football road trips such as Nebraska, LSU and Army so the powers that be empowered the old system, good or bad.
  5. This new site is pretty bad. You would think the new one would be better from day one rather than have a shingle on the main page saying improvements are on the way. Bad customer serivce here because once you go to a bad site you rarely go back for more.
  6. Got my order form today at the office. I like the idea of how they are keeping the GA seating on the East side of the stadium BUT have no idea how they will police this. No real changes but the price is much lower than I can remember for a five game season. The new AD worked wonders at El Paso with tickets and I am sure he knows what he is doing here. With a new ticket manager and a new marketing staff plus the success of last year this should be the biggest sales year in the history of Akron football. I will be very disappointed if we do not set an all-time season ticket sales total this year. There is no excuse not to set a record base on the sales from the MACC and the Motor City Bowl turnout from last year.
  7. We've come a long way baby. Way to go JD.Come on Mack, sign your championship coach and staff to a better contract and quit treating him like a third class citizen. You promised this in January - why the delay?
  8. Great pickup for the Zips. This will be the first tall, wide and coordinated center in more than a decade. No offense Bruce.
  9. This is a smokescreen. The University has committments for more than $20m in gifts, including one for $10m and another for $5m from naming rights partners. The hold up is the land that is now being purchased. They cannot announce the stadium until all of the land is bought and some of the landowners are not cooperating. The more time that it takes to get the land the more this cherade will be acted out by Akron administrators.
  10. Dennis Mitchell is the most marketable coach the Zip program has right now. The triple crown feat and national finishes of the jumpers and distance runners has him at the top of many coaching lists around the country.
  11. No Zip. He did not graduate from high school. His uncle is a ref and told me this at a camp this week. Very disappointing.
  12. Big fish for 2007 who had committed to Akron is headed to Louisville. Kenny Walker will play for Lolla. Big loss.
