  1. I must be real out of the loop - who from the article is not on the team any more?
  2. If not for some pretty awful coaching last year by ex-coach Brian Knorr Ohio beats Akron pretty handily in Athens. Objectively you could say the same for 2003 at the Rubber Bowl. Can't State has a pretty good defense coming back, maybe the best in the MAC. Can't State fans can't believe they lost to Akron in 2004. Akron fans can't believe they lost to Can't State in 2003. The last two games have been tight. A toss-up is a safe guess in game 11 of the season. homefield really matters little, it will be who is the healthiest and who has the most to gain form the win at that point in the season.
  3. I live in Columbus and know some of this stuff. He be da scoopage. Walker is done - medical casulty. Same for Dennis Basch and Gruber. All three never to play again. Balaam has been working out with the team for the past month. You folks were the only ones saying he would not come. Spaulding could play all 22 positions and he would still be a D-II player. Nice kid, can't play. The recruiting class has not suffered because of people not showing up or being ineligible. If you do not take chances at Akron or in the MAC overall, basketball or football, you are going to get left behind. The biggest surprises of last year's recruiting class will not be talked about for at least a year if the coaches are planning for the future. You know a program is in 911 stages if they are playing true freshmen. After working the Akron camp I am confident they will have a solid season. Maybe not as many wins as last year, in large part because they are very young and inexperienced players in the top 44. Early they will look bad and midway through the season those kids are going to mature into a fine ballclub. I would not want to be a MAC team playing Akron after Mid-October because they may be one of the better tems in the league by then.
