  1. Sounds like a late 70s game show title.I would like to warmly invite all of our members to visit http://www.MACsportsFans.com and see the 2006/2007 edition of the website. I am really looking forward to seeing how people take to using the site. Features include a new frontpage, which uses a content management system called Mambo. This provides a full interface for the site, and makes for easier and more consistent graphics and navigation. I have introduced a chat room, running commercially hosted software, in which I will be hosting at least a single chat-night a week, give or take TV games. The existing weblog and message board can now be accessed without being taken outside of the site. A RSS enabled Google Calendar will allow for games, events, and other site events to be listed. A dynamic links section will allow users to add their own links of interest to the MAC. A gallery section will display photos and video as it becomes available, and will host a user-driven gallery in the near future. There will be fan polls on a regular basis. The voters in the MAC Sports Poll will have a slick new interface. I am going to host blogs for users that wish to offer them. And the frontpage will have RSS feeds updating news from across the MAC. All in all, I modest improvement from the "non" website of the past. Growing pains aside, I think this will be a lot of fun. I hope everybody enjoys it!MACSportsfans.com
  2. The time is near, and I am again seeking those interested in voting in the MAC Sports Poll. The MAC Sports Poll ranks the MAC football teams 1-13 (including Temple.) The purpose is to provide a MAC fans perspective as to who is the best team in the MAC. This does not mean the team with out of conference losses is automatically dropped in the rankings. Indeed, this is a poll of gut feelings, not lock-step worship of overall records. If you think a team is better than another, vote them that way.Voting will be done at the website, and voters need only enter their choices for ranks 1-13. Results are due Midnight each Monday, and as soon as the end of the last conference game of that week. Please contact me directly at nathanwlb@gmail.com if you are interested in participating.Past vote results can be viewed at MACsportsFans.com.
  3. What is with the Florida schools climbing into 1A? I'm going to have to search to find out how many more are making the jump to D1 or 1A. Has anybody seen a finalized or speculative version of the Zip's MAC sched. for next year?
  4. I think after proving themselves in the title game specifically, no team is going to be able to take the Zips lightly. Some of the players talked about how they had felt folks never gave them a chance. Alumni players were noted as saying how hard it was to play there in the "dark days." All of that ended this week, regardless of how the bowl game turns out. More over, people who have been watching the MAC all these years have now seen two teams they don't see as much of as they do Miami, BG, UT, or even NIU. Those TV viewers will now know another MAC team. Akron winning might well help the MAC more than if NIU had won.
  5. A sincere congratulations for the Zips excellent performance and well-earned MAC championship. Your victory will be a huge gain both to Akron but also the entire MAC. The football world now has to deal with another MAC team on the rise. Drop by MACsportsFans.com and make some noise on our message board, join our email list!
  6. Good luck Zips, help keep UT out of a bowl and win the entire thing!
  7. Not that I mean to stir up the pot, but there is growing talk that even if Akron makes the game in Detroit, they may not get a bowl bid unless they win the MAC. How would Akron fans here respond to that?
  8. Odd, I used "fear the roo" nearly five years ago, I should demand a bit of the action!
  9. I won't make excuses for the vote counts, but that was how things broke down. I think Akron clearly has turned the bend as program, but like Can't and Ohio, they still are trying to get over the old reputation.
  10. Only some light changes here and there. Visit MACsportsFans.com for vote tallies and previous polls. 1 Toledo 2 BGSU 3 NIU 4 Akron 5 Miami 6 Ohio 7 EMU 8 CMU 9 WMU 10 Can't 11 BSU 12 UB Temple placed 12 in overall voting, but as always, will not be part of the official poll until '07.
  11. Congrads Zips! "Fear The Roo....."
  12. The top three remained in place, but the pack of the MAC mixed it up in week four of the MAC Sports Poll. 1. Toledo 2. BGSU 3. NIU 4. Miami 5. Akron 6. Ohio 7. CMU 8. EMU 9. WMU 10. Can't 11. BSU 12. UB *Temple placed 12th out of 13 teams in this weeks voting. Visit www.macsportsfans.com for vote counts and previous results. Also join the MACsportsFans.com message board and email list to discuss this weeks poll!
  13. What are they projecting the seating in the new stadium to come in at?
  14. I'm content with things at the moment. The older graphics are not intended to wow people with being recent, just to hold a place for later-on. My goal is to get the poll running smoothly, and slowly roll the site out over time. The message boards could use a few good Zip fans though.
  15. www.MACsportsFans.com BGSU on top, others after, vote counts and notes at the website and blog.
  16. I’m seeking two members of this website to vote in a 14 week poll of MAC football teams. The poll will rank the conference top to bottom each week during the season, without regard of divisions. The poll will be hosted at www.MACsportsFans.com, which also has its own email list (established in 1996) and message board. Please email me at NathanWLB@gmail.com or sign onto the message boards to indicate your interest. The first poll is coming up in a couple of weeks. NWLB
