Rutgers narrows athletic-director search to three top finalists
Quickzips replied to zff's topic in Other Sports
My thoughts:Mack isn't irreplacable. Far from it. Is he a bad AD? No. Is he the second coming? No. Is he somewhere in the middle? Yeah. I take it as at least something of a compliment that our athletic department seems to be a breeding stock for good talent right at the moment. It tells me that the guys in charge of hiring are doing a good job. As many others have said, as long as Proenza sticks around we're going to be in pretty good shape. As for our next AD. I don't know if I would entirely rule out Dambrot. It would be a loss for the basketball team, but if he could convince Jeff Boals to take over his old position it would definitley curb that loss. I don't know what kind of an AD Dambrot would be, but he's an Akron guy through and through and he has that pitbull mentality that I think you need for the job. I just don't want to lose him all together by hiring an AD that wants to push him out the door as basketball coach and bring in his own guy. -
I'm sorry. But, that not a true statement. As with the Rubber Bowl the Info will be available for use for HS games so long as UofA isn't playing a home game. Please feel free to email the AD office and they'll confirm that very information.Easy there cowboy. Just making a sarcastic remark about the idioticy of the MAC's scheduling structure and the fact that it may interfere with potential revenue generating endeavors such as renting out the stadium for big weeknight high school games. Sorry if I touched a cord.

We can't have Thursday night HS games at the Info. Our moron of an ex-conference commissioner thinks that is when you are supposed to play college games.

Chris McKnight missing key FT's down the stretch has been a disturbing trend this year.Zips have no answer for this Urule kid. He's killing us right now.
-
My god do the MAC refs suck. If I wanted to watch 10 seconds of action followed by 30 seconds of standing around I'd watch a football game.
-
Ofcourse Bardo doesn't box out. If he boxed out he wouldn't be able to have those stellar 0 points, 1 rebound, 4 fouls in 15 minutes stat lines.
-
Chris McKnight has to lead the NCAA in lost contact lenses.

So your going on the idea that KD hit his head getting off of the bus, developed amnesia and has changed his entire identity?

I'm done y'all. If the Zips aren't going to bother to play, I'm not goin to bother to watch. -

I'm about to turn this shit off. Zips turning the ball over, not boxing out on FT rebounds. This is an absolute embarrasment. -

BS officiating again. McNees gets a jumpball, possession Akron, but Crawford comes in from the other side and says TO for NIU. NIU ball. -

ANOTHER 2nd chance bucket for NIU. This one comes with an and 1 to go with it. Absolutely horrible. -

Gotta try to get this down to around 5 at the half and then regroup. We aren't doing anything well right now. Nate is the only one who came to play. He's got about 3 steals and 7 points. We aren't crashing the glass, aren't playing much defense, aren't hitting shots. So much for Chris' talk about not taking NIU for granted. -

The real question should be why are they hitting everything? Our defense has to step up here. -

Pitiful effor by the Zips so far. 20-6 NIU. I think I'm going to vomit. Zips can't hit a shot and NIU is 83% from 3 point land. -

Zips sleepwalking a bit early. 7-2 NIU on a couple of 3's by a guy who has scored 6 points total in the last 4 games. -

Channelsurfing working for me. -
28-27 Cardinals at the half.
-
Cards trying to hold up their end of the bargain so far. 21-19 Ball State with 2:54 left in the first half. Looks like a defensive battle.

Rasor seems to think we are more than just a token competitor for this kids services. From what I've read of him, if KD could land this kid it would be a HUGE coup. Teams like Kentucky, Xavier, Dayton and Cincinnati are all over him and many at OSU are looking at him as the defining piece of their 2010 recruiting efforts. Apparently the kid does play some PF as well as C. He's got a freakishly long wingspan, is a great leaper and plays well at both ends of the floor.

If that ends up being the score then I wouldn't be surprised if KD, Coach Boals, Rick McFadden and Cedrick Middleton suit up and play the last 10 minutes or so. -

If the Zips take this game seriously (they should after what happened last year and what NIU did to Can't a couple nights ago), this shouldn't even be a ballgame. If the Zips try to show up and sleepwalk through this thing, it could get ugly. -
My understanding is Alex Allen of the football zips has received a 6th yr due to medical redshirt so it is possible. But it does lock up what would have been an available scholarship in 2012/2013.Yes, but as was stated earlier in this thread, burning McClanahan's redshirt opens up another scholarship for 2012/2013, so it evens out. If I'm thinking right, that year we should have 4 scholarships available (presuming Ronnie gets his medical redshirt). One from Humpty, one from McClanahan, one from Cvetinovic and one from Swiech.

I'm not going to defend the NCAA in most situations, but they do have some pretty clear guidelines on this. The injury has to be documented (complications from compartment syndrome sounds good enough to me) and the player has to have played in less than a certain percentage of the teams games for the season. I can't remember the percentage, but I think Razor a couple weeks ago had done the math and figured out that he would be eligible for the medical redshirt. At this point there is no reason to rush Ronnie back. Humpty has settled down at the PG and McNees and Roberts can handle the ball too. With McClanahan we've got the 4 guards that we need. Let him get fully recovered from this thing and hopefully he can compete for a spot in the rotation next year.

Rasors blog today http://www.ohiomm.com/blogs/zips/2009/02/z...ve-star-center/ says we are looking at another highly touted center prospect for the class of 2010. Adreian Payne out of Dayton Jefferson HS. He's got offers from all the big Ohio basketball schools (OSU, Dayton, Xavier, Cincy) plust Kentucky, Pittsburgh, Tennessee and West Virginia. Sounds like this would be another heck of a land if we are indeed in the running for him. I wonder if he could play PF for us? Could you imagine having a kid like this alongside Zeke in our frontcourt? It would be a total nightmare for the rest of the MAC.
