  1. Dials does look like he is really hurting....
  2. Sunday, January 15, 2006 Walther just trying to help at Ohio College update Bubba Walther didn't mean his Mid-American Conference hop to Ohio to be a slap in the face to Akron fans.Walther, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Moeller, left Akron over winter break, midway through his sophomore season, and enrolled at Ohio. He was scoring 8.9 points a game for the Zips who, entering Saturday's game, were off to their best start since 2000 and were tied with Ohio for second in the MAC East behind Miami.Walther began thinking about a transfer at the end of last season. Because Walther didn't like living in the dorms, his parents persuaded him to try living in an apartment as a sophomore. But he said by the time Akron got back from a three-game trip to Puerto Rico on Dec. 21, he knew it was time to leave."Basketball was not going to get any better for me there, so I needed to make the move," Walther said. "I liked my teammates a lot, but I was already playing less than I was last year, and I felt like the opportunities to earn more minutes weren't going to be there. ... We had four people in the same position."In his first season, Walther was named to the MAC all-freshman team after starting 14 games and averaging 19.3 minutes and 8.8 points a game. He had three starts this season and was playing 18.3 minutes a game, behind guards Dru Joyce (31.4 minutes) and Nick Dials (25.8 minutes).Walther said he was drawn to Ohio by its NCAA Tournament berth last year and this season's 9-2 start entering Saturday, the best Bobcats start since 1985-86. The decision was also personal. He said about 30 guys from his Moeller senior class attend Ohio."Young people today make decisions for a variety of reasons," coach Keith Dambrot said when the team announced Walther's departure.Walther didn't talk to Ohio coach Tim O'Shea until after his first day of classes at OU, but when he finally met with him, "He said he was glad to have me," Walther said.Walther must sit out all games until January 2007. He is a walk-on this season but expects to earn a scholarship for next season."I think I can help," Walther said. "I don't think I'll come in and be a star, but I never wanted that."Walther said he feels accepted by the Ohio team and the students on campus."I don't have any hard feelings (toward Akron)," Walther said. "... I hope they do well, except when they play Ohio."
  3. "Travis, Linhart, Preston, and Futch all got in foul trouble. Guys were limping around in a very physical game. "What happened to Peterson?I still find it amazing that Dambrot doesnt have the "confidence" maybe to put in either Zach, Nick G., or Chad to help these guys out for a few minutes. What I have seen of these players they certainly won't hurt the team, and could help to rest some of the players.
  4. I had heard he would only be a sophmore next year, that is one of the reasons he did this....
  5. word is that Bubba HAS enrolled for winter classes at OU and will play after fall quarter grades are out next year. He's not officially a part of the team yet cus OU has no scholarships to offer right now. Though the bobcats need to go out and get a 6-10 or taller big man, Bubba will be a good addition because their two best shooters (Mychal Green and Jeff Halbert) will be graduating this year. This is very Jason Grunkenmeyer of him
  6. He can't say due to NCAA rules maybe?, but people are thinking Ohio U
