Maybe it depends on where you're sitting. I use those new side scoreboards all the time. On the rare occasion I'm in another arena, I'm always looking for them!

Rasor's blog has what I hope is a bad rumor on it. If true, it would be a big loss for us. The only silver lining is that Mac probably knows a few qualified people he could get in here. UAM has big shoes to fill, though.
-
Why not just email UAM and see if he'll send it to you?

The Beacon is so confused on this it is laughable. No, it's not their job to promote Akron, but they fall down on the job in not emphasizing it. The Beacon powers-that-be proclaim they're supporters of downtown, the city of Akron, etc., yet they don't emphasize not just D1 basketball downtown, but WINNING D1 basketball right down the street. Honestly, they just don't get it, and can't understand the benefit to them. I don't even know what to say on this anymore.

This one is easy. LO attends Pluto's church, or did. What a con artist (LO).

NOOOoooooooOOOOOO! Please, God, NO. NO. No. NO. If Thomas takes Dambrot to Cincy I may have to kill myself.
-
They aren't used to playing in front of crowds? Well, Joyce, Travis, and Dials certainly are. Am I missing anybody else?

See but Akron IS the big name. Can I ask about your screen name, "Sloopy?" Are you an OSU grad? Just curious, and no malice intended. Just wondering if that's maybe why you have the point of view that Akron alone isn't good enough to pay $12 for, and it has to be something bigger. Tell that to Gonzaga, or Wichita State, GW, or Creighton.

Honestly, I thought it interesting he only got 20-some responses. And they were all a bunch of hooey.Talk about coming up with excuses. They don't like the JAR? Have they seen Cameron? The only excuses I thought valid were the one where some folks left after the Dennison situation and just never came back, and the competition for the local sports dollar. And when some said we have to "win something" first, that's bs, too. Go ask Can't, an established program, why they have approximately the same attendance numbers as Akron. Parking is now easy with the new garage, too.

I do NOT want Huggins! Give me Dambrot all day.Thomas did what many perceive to be an excellent job at Akron. He came from Virginia and really took our programs to the Division 1 level, which should have actually happened when we went D-1 in around 1993. I for one was extremely sorry to see him go, because you just knew he was going to get the new stadium built. If you read his bio you should get all the info you need. It's not on our site anymore but probably could be found at Cincinnati's. Facilities were improved and he built a new indoor fieldhouse that many say is one of the finest in the country. He also hired several excellent coaches and fundraising was up. Our academic ranking also was greatly improved in the conference - to 2nd place I believe and up from around last place. I heard all the coaches like him a lot (except the ones he had to fire, of course lol). He also brought in UAM, and other new staff, all of whom have been solid if not excellent hires.I'd say he did an "A" job.

Now THAT is an excellent idea! But never, ever get rid of the original Zippy.

Toledo, here is what you're not getting. Akron's indoor facility is nicer than many of the top BCS programs in the country. It's certainly the finest in the MAC by a wide margin, may be the best in the Midwest and is a top facility in the country. Other coaches recognize this. Mike Shanahan was floored when he saw it and said the same thing. You seem to be the only "expert" who has a different opinion.P.S. You can kiss your superiority in the MAC goodbye. Let's see, I can send my kid to play for your slob of a coach, or Brookhart - polished, professional and the coach of two Belitnikoff winners and the Heisman runner up. Hmmm....
-
zen, I could be wrong, but I'd think your scale is wrong. A stadium and parking would take up ALL the space from Union to Spicer, and Vine to Exchange. At least that's the plan. Maybe it's because the U is going to add other buildings to the stadium. I heard dorms, support services, etc.

I believe $20 million is what they have to have raised to put a shovel in the ground. I heard the entire cost was $40-50 mil.
-
Did anyone see that sorry excuse for an ad in the Beacon on Sunday. Ouch! That was, without question, the most juvenile, unprofessional ad I have EVER seen in a paper. Can't sure makes UAM look good!

We have nine remaining MAC games. To get to a 20-win season, we must win five of these. Here is the schedule - any predictions?http://gozips.collegesports.com/sports/m-b...skbl-sched.html
-
I have heard they've already raised around $20 mil.
-
Why would you put the fox in charge of the henhouse?
-
Do tell us about your fall MAC championships.
-
Dials appears to have credibility. He had no reason to not like Bubba but clearly Bubba had it in for him. The kid was averaging 18 minutes this season but didn't trust the coach? Un-freaking-real. The more I read the happier I am that he's gone.

Great news - OU is favored by 4.5. Great motivator for the Zips to be picked to lose what should be a close game.

Look, OZoner, here are the facts of last season's MAC basketball: it could have been any one of several teams. You could have played the same tournament a week later and it would have been someone else, and probably repeated it again a week after that and had a different outcome. OU got it done when it counted, and they get all the credit for that, but to suggest your championship as somehow indicating your overall basketball superiority is homerism at its best. Same with our MAC football championship. Are we well coached? Yep. Could it play out differently if we had to play NIU again? Hell, yes. We played them tight twice in the year. I sure wouldn't want to face Wolfe again. One of the attributes of the MAC East basketball is our parity. How else can you argue with us killing you guys twice last year and then you taking the MAC tourney?
-
Isn't it possible Hakes would redshirt for a year? I see Jackson as the QB, then Hakes.

Keith Dambrot's file at the NCAA is completely clear. Nothing. Nada. Bubba wanting a better academic experience? Thanks for the laugh.Look, a very good reason for Dambrot to not release him is that he went to another MAC school. Most conferences have extra penalties for that; the MAC does not. Look into what happens in the Big Ten if you try this. As far as his dad having a prior relationship with an assistant coach, it's the content of those discussions that matters. You can't get around an NCAA rule just because you know someone. If they (the dad and the asst. coach) discussed Bubba's transfer, it was an official conversation, NCAA-wise. You have to go through the head coach (Dambrot in this case). The NCAA HATES when people try to pull crap like this. I'll wait to see if they get busted for it before I believe if it's true or not.I've heard from several sources that the team is glad he's gone. Practices are better and there's no emotional baggage hanging in the air anymore. OU can have him.

Let me go on record as saying I, for one, wish you had not said anything. An entire week???
