I'm predicting 27 TDs and 11 INTs for Jacq along with 3,200 yds and a 58% completion %. I think this type of production will lead us to 8 to 9 wins.

Anyone know much about Lot 17? Seems to be a make-shift lot. I like being close to the stadium, but was actually hoping to be a bit closer to Carroll Street (VERY excited about the Zipsfest= GREAT WORK UA!!!). Just hoping this lot is safe, as it seems to be settled in with some of the "rougher" homes situated just East of Spicer near Exchange. Being as I'm not from the area, this is one spot I am not as familiar with. And lot 17 seems to be the one "oddball" lot in that it doesn't have a typical color on the earlier maps (it is grayed out). If anyone knows more about this lot, I would be very appreciative of the information.Thanks..and GO ZIPS!!!

Kudos?!?!?! More like false advertising!!! When I purchased my family plan, I was told that the 4 seats are mine to use how I like and to take anyone I would like. Much like the Browns' "family plan", past Cavaliers "family plans", etc.. This is a major screw up on their part, and the ticket office will be hearing from me Monday.Well, I had the family plan and I knew the entire time that it was supposed to be two adults and two kids. I just considered us lucky at the RB when they gave us 4 GA tickets. If the person who sold you the tickets told you this, then yes, you got screwed, but I thought the liturature was pretty clear.Yes, I was told I could use them as I please. I just hope they are fair in letting me buy the cheapest tix possible for the 3 games where I plan on taking other adults.

One of the final touches better be brick around the scoreboard as well. PLEASE!!!Sorry man - that's already been decided - no brick until sometime possibly in the future.I know "true" facilites never/rarely match the initial renderings. But not having the brick around the scoreboard and the field, the changed lights, the lack of blue paint on the non-Press Box stands and no flagpoles would be quite a diversion from the rendering that is on the posters, magnets, etc. And I don't see them replacing these things with better items at this time. Is this b/c of cost (most likely), time or some other reason (adding later)?I say all this, and please understand I love this stadium. And, I know there will be future changes.

Massilon is a pain in the rear to get to...needs to go.3 games in Canton, 3 in Akron would be perfect...unless you are from Cincinnati.

I am more offended by the lack of a kangaroo!! in the picture (for whatever reason, I couldn't copy and paste it!).

I was there for employee appreciation day on Sunday. They had a bunch of zips inflatables (soccer game, bouncer, zippy), face painting, and other carnival-type games for kids to enjoy. It was a very nice event and I would imagine that the majority of the items were purchased (not rented) due to them either being shaped like zippy or sporting an Akron logo. They did that for the spring game as well, and my daughter had a blast! I hope the same will be done for at least the first few games when weather SHOULD be nice.

Any word on inflatables, face painting, family activites on Coleman Commons or other location near the stadium on gameday? Taking the kids to a couple games, and I still want to arrive early.
-
Family section here as well. Looking to take the kids to 2 games, other adults to 3 and a give away to the family for the EMU game (out of town).

Students:They are just getting you ready for the big-time. ID and a ticket too much to remember? C'mon, alcohol and bong residue can't hurt you that much that soon!!!

Lot to consider, especially in regards to injuries with two of the guys and youth with one. If it is an "other" we are in some trouble!

Wow...when was the last time this slipped to page 2?!?!

Why in the world would we still be playing UK after they backed out of coming to the Info? We can get a $$$ game with someone else= UK is not worth it.

Can we get some consensus on which athletic departments are really putting $$$ into their facilities and athletic programs to make the MAC a better conference? We know what Akron is doing, has done and possibly has in the works, but what about other schools? BG has a new arena in the works, Miami has built a new hockey arena (I know, not a MAC sport). Temple has committed to a guy like Al Golden who seems to be a good, young coach. Same with Buffalo and Turner Gill, plus I thought there were plans to improve their football stadium.Just wondering what others think, what others know, etc.

If my calculations are correct, we were the #4 Non-BCS team, finishing behind Utah, Boise and BYU and finishing ahead of TCU.Nice work guys. Wow, what it would be like to actually get into that group of teams that are definitely well-respected nationally? THAT should be our goal!!!

I have asked this question before and there does not seem to be a definitive answer. My guess is the brick facade is not happening at this point, with the "construction" being complete on the field. I would look for blue & gold padding, which would be just fine (similar to how the Browns have brown padding surrounding the field). I do hope it is more of a CLASSIC padding look..maybe a couple athletic logos, but not all kinds of pictures. At this point, I expect them to keep it simple.

Maybe he should go to the Big 12 where he will be welcomed!http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?sectio...&id=3500719

Are they really renovating it? I heard mention once, nothing since. Unless they find a way to eliminate seats blocked by the track, no renovation will be good enough. Not to mention, the best basketball arenas have chairback where us old people sit (35 years old with a 65 year old back right here!).

They could call it White Elephant Arena.....A post made for Ohio.com for sure

They can always add brick later, just like they can always frame the scoreboard in brick. They're leaving options for future upgrades, so the next AD can put "stadium upgrades" on his resumé.Well, duh! They can also added 15,000 seats if need be. Just wondering what we might have when 9/12/2009 arrives.

As it stands right now, we do not need a new arena. As awful as the JAR is, it is not sold out except for a couple of games a year. When seasons start to get sold out, then they should look at building a new arena. There is no long term evidence in sports proving that "if you build it, they will come". They might come for a season or two, but when the excitment ends over a new arena, the big crowds will end. Let's see what football attendance is in three years. The last thing UofA needs is a top notch bb program with a 9,000 seat arena that sits half full for 80% of the home games. The problem is that the JAR has to be one of the worst designed bball arenas out there. The "track" in front of so many seats is beyond ridiculous. It would be like putting light poles IN FRONT of seating at a football stadium (but actually, worse). In this modern day of technology and building advancements, I see no reason why we cannot build an arena that can be "adjusted" by the event. So many teams/arenas use curtains. Perhaps a well designed "curtain system" would allow the ability to have a 12,000 facility for all events (larger concerts, NCAA tourney games, Cavaliers pre-season games, hockey or minor league Indoor Soccer) become a 7,000 seat venue for Akron b-ball (until the need arises for something bigger) and smaller concerts. If you have been to a CSU game, they obviously have done that (the curtain) for makeshift reasons. But I see no reason why you can't design a place that works like that. Heck, the Q looks pretty good for tourney games, and even Syracuse uses a curtain for basketball at the Dome. Once again, if you design with this in mind, it is my full belief it can work.

Cement wall surrounding the field=pictures in poster/magnet show brick. Will it:A. Remain the sameB. Get the brick facadeC. Get Blue & Gold paddingAt this point, my guess is b&g padding would be cheaper/easier than the facade, but less "classic" looking.

I know some are very critical of Jacq, but I truly believe it is all going to work out for a great season for him this year. 25+ TDs, over 3,000 yards, cutting interceptions and fumbles down. I think the combination of his senior season, flushes of greatness last year (esp. Syracuse game), Harris/Montgomery influence, etc. will propel him to one of the best seasons ever for an Akron QB.Perhaps I have the "misfortune" of seeing only some of his better games last year= Syracuse, Cincinnati, Can't State (rough at times I know) and Wisky (many good moments). But I really think he will push us to those 8-9 wins and clearly become the 3rd best QB in the MAC this year (behind LeFevour and Hiller).Go Zips and Go Jacq!
