  1. Quick analysis after looking at Scout & Rivals (both were similar in comparisons) in regards to 40 times. Also noted where they will be in regards to size by next year (taking a guess)Matt Rodgers: 4.69; Scout did their own and timed 4.83 Rodgers 6'2, 215Patrick Nicely: 4.67: Scout did their own and timed 4.90 Nicely 6'4, 225Zach D'Orazio: 4.52; no Scout time D'Orazio 6'1 195Nothing listed on Dylan Potts, did not search Wackerly and, to compare, found 1 site that had Jacq as 4.7 (less info on him overall).I think it will be a 3-player battle, with Rodgers the favorite & Nicely a strong contender. Tough to count out D'Orazio completely, as he was recruited by Walt. I still think he will redshirt though. DON'T FORGET, you can see him in action on Thursday 9/25 against Ritossa and Kirtland on Fox Sports.Football speed is obviously different than 40 times, but Nicely at that size vs. Rodgers is very close. I know, I know...we are 2 games into the 2009 season. And I am a Jacq suppporter (uh...huh huh). But I do think that starting next year we are really going to see some great QB play and true dual-threat options at the position.
  2. Nice work! For the most part, 2 star guys on both teams have outperformed 3 star guys (with some exceptions). Looks like IU had their best class in this most recent one, but only if the stars hold true (which recent history says they don't). Definitely similar talent levels on both teams based on those stars, and it proves once again what an inexact sciene the star ratings are.

  4. Hoo hoo, please tell me you are coming to the game. We need this type of visiting fan at the game.
  5. This all just the ebb & flow of things. USC was an average program from the late 80's until Carroll arrived, save for maybe a couple of good years. Miami and FSU dominated from the early 80's to the late 90's, and have been nothing special for the last 5+ years. OSU is 2 defensive stops in their last 2 big games from ending all this garbage about the Big 10 being so horrible (though I agree it is down as a conference overall). Penn State would do everyone that cares about the Big 10 a favor by playing at least 1 real non-conference game, and Michigan will come back. The team/program that still beffudles me is ND (not in the Big 10, I know..but Midwest big-time program). They have been pretty darn average now for 14+ years. I believe they will come back too, but it has taken longer than I would expect.
  6. I think the ONLY WAY I am open to playing OSU, Mich, PSU or ND (thinking of the 4 bigger named Midwest schools that MIGHT come to play here) at Browns stadium is if it is our 7th home game. And the chances of that are slim. PERHAPS we could get a year where we play one of those 4 at home, then get a "name FSC team" in say, Villanova along with a team like Navy (who we could get in a 1 for 1).There just is no good reason to not play 6 home games at INFO!!!In an ideal world, within 5 years we will a program like Boise, TCU, Utah where playing at our place doesn't hurt a majority of the BCS programs (besides maybe the top 15-20 name teams). In other words, it would be a valued win beating Akron at Akron (like Oregon could have had a good win by winning at Boise). In an even more ideal world, we will have dominated the MAC for 5 years and be welcomed into the new Big East!!!
  7. I think when we all watched the PSU game we just assumed no uni changes. I am wondering if this means we will have a different away look now too? Will there be other options?Beacon Photo AlbulmMy guess is our away uniforms will stay the same. I hope I am wrong. I would love to see an all-white version with blue down the side (basically, the reverse of the home unis).
  8. I wouldn't mind seeing him tote the ball in goal-line situations.Brian Toal, LB for BC did this very effectively for a couple years. However, he also busted up his shoulder doing it. I do agree it might be worth a look in our power formation (do we have one of those?!?!?!).I said to my wife after the Penn State game that he is going to be special. I can imagine him and Hoobler reaking havoc on teams over the next 3-4 years!!!
  9. I suggested this exact plan months ago. Indiana, in fact, does this. However, it is my understanding they leave it there all year. So, it will look a bit odd when there are empty seats. My guess is they will offer this in a year or 2. It is becoming more prevalent across the country.
  10. Duh...well, I think we would all choose that one then!!!Most teams in our situation have to choose= play 1 big, 1 small (FCS) if you want 2 in your house, play 2 mediums where you can get 1 for 1s or do what teams like BG, Toledo and Can't have done= play a bigger program "at home" but miss out on the big game at your stadium.Indiana coming here is fun, but I am more of the preference of getting 2 good or "name" non-BCS teams (Navy, Southern Miss, TCU, Houston, East Carolina, etc.) on the schedule vs. 1 BCS team and 1 FCS team.
  11. 1= at BCS, FCS, vs. decent BCS, at average BCS2= at BCS, vs. non-BCS with good history, an academy, at non-BCS with some history3= BCS at "home", vs. good BCS, at non-BCS, at BCS
  12. It was a great, great day, one that I will remember for a long time. I must have taken 60 pictures. My 3 year old daughter experienced her first college game, first mild tailgating experience, first Zipsfest, etc. Stadium was awesome, team was very good, weather was great, campus was rocking, etc.The good (great):1. Stadium: awesome site lines, awesome field, hill was great. Felt more like 40-50,000 people vs. 27,000 the way it sets up.2. Tailgating: just a great experience. Really relaxed and enjoyable. Beers were good and cold.3. Zipsfest: very well done. We arrived just in time to see the band, then my daughter got A-Roo logo on her hand, and we just took in the sights.4. Ran into Tom Wistercill on my way to the game: he was walking alone (which I found interesting) as a regular fan would, I was walking with wife and kid, stuck out my hand and said, "Good luck". He said "Thank you, and thanks for coming out today."5. Frats= nice partying!!! Definitely created a great atmosphere around the stadium. Awesome stuff! Really added to the experience.6. Uniforms..really liked them, awesome keeping them secret.7. Weather=thanks God!!! Bring it again next week. By 3:30, pressbox gives me shade= no sun burn (and I coated myself well enough to avoid it this week).Need to work on:1. Programs= never saw a vendor. Saw 2 people with them the whole day (from afar). Disappointed I did not get one..I could have asked but someone, just never got around to it. Enjoying the game too much!!!2. Zips Team Shop= somewhat understandable, but disappointing that it was not open.3. High school-esque sales at the concessions= trying to add prices in their heads. Get registers or calculators!!!4. Tailgating needs to start 5-6 hours before game. For a 3:30 game, I would love to start at around 9:30/10, then hit BW-3 and then Zipsfest. Need more time to take it all in!!!I would give a solid "A" to the universty, city and the team for a near perfect day of fun!!!!
  13. Would have helped if the team shop was open. VERY LIMITED selection in the makeshift shop.Would have also helped if Campus Exchange across from the stadium had some X-large shirts. Tried to buy either a white or a gray shirt I liked..found 2, no XLs.Hey, I hate to be the fashion police here, but I love my navy blue Zips hat (wore it Saturday, been wearing it all summer)..but unless it matches EXACTLY with a Navy shirt, it just isn't gonna happen. I saw way too many fans with navy hats and navy shirts that just didn't match. Gotta keep my fashion sense, baby!!!
  14. More of an old school guy myself, and not a big fan of the all one color. But I really liked these. The white down the side keeps it looking sleek, and the "Akron" wording is awesome! Great story about how they found out too. Pretty impressive that they kept this a secret and kept it from ZN!!!!
  15. PSU 37SU 17I think SU will be a tougher game for Akron than many Zips' fans seem to think. They will be improved, but not enough to beat PSU. For various reasons, I prefer PSU to come out on top.
  16. gold shirts and white pants? When they come out of that tunnel tomorrow, how will our Zips be clad?NOTE: Can't figure how to edit the title= ALL blue....
  17. I did not, but I heard the very end of Reghi talking to Hunter. They were giving away tix as well. I believe it was Reghi that said this is big for Northeast Ohio (the stadium). He seemed pretty genuinely excited.
  18. Nobody on the offensive side of the ball showed up in the 1st half. Anderson2 was HORRIBLE (3 penalties and a "get the QB killed" missed block). If Shuford and Tuzze are our RBs..yikes. Allen needs to get healthy and we better hope that Torrence or Martin do something. Jacq is not going to be anything more than solid-to-good...he needs help.
  19. Let's say we had built it to 45,000 (supposedly what we CAN build it to):Assuming this year's team...Minnesota 35,000 LPSU LNorthwestern 29,000 WMaine 18,000 WSouth Florida 20,000 WWVU 42,000 L (lots of WVU fans!)Cincy 26,000 L (homecoming)Syracuse W (road game for this purpose)Pitt LLville WRutgers 22,000 LUConn W6-6, avg 27,400 fans= 7 home games
  20. Really moving today on the blue padding around the field= looks great!!!
  21. Exactly= the watch party is at Beaver Stadium!!!
  22. Shoot..when I was in college, I wore the same jeans for 12 days, morning, afternoon and night!Anyway, if this is such a problem, you should all band together and overthrow the establishment!!!
  23. Kudos?!?!?! More like false advertising!!! When I purchased my family plan, I was told that the 4 seats are mine to use how I like and to take anyone I would like. Much like the Browns' "family plan", past Cavaliers "family plans", etc.. This is a major screw up on their part, and the ticket office will be hearing from me Monday.Sorry somebody at the university mis-sold you! My Kudos were for the instant child ID system at the game. Lost kids not only have their parent's (or ticket owner's) name on their wrist, but also have the right seat to return them to as well.I agree with you about the identification. BTW..spoke with the ticket office this a.m. They did an EXCELLENT JOB in taking care of this for me. Very impressed!!!!I truly felt this was a glitch in what has otherwise been an awesome experience (becoming a season ticket holder and participating in much of the Info events). Again= very impressed.
  24. Nits' 37 Zips 27I think we will have our moments and our chances, but inevitably their depth, a couple less mistakes by PSU and poor UA special teams will be the difference.
  25. Lot 17 will not be used for gameday parking. It is being used right now for the construction crews. And the houses that you're concerned about have mostly been demolished to create the lot. There's pretty much nothing lest east of Spicer but greek houses these days. Thanks for the information= very helpful. In addition, no disrespect meant about the houses (for those that might think I'm a "Danny Downer"). I'm a big proponent and advocate of revitalization, and what UA and Akron are doing overall is phenomenal. Only going to get better over the next 3 to 5 years with the Info, a stronger economy, new downtown hotel (hopefully) and the proposed titanium bridge, amongst other things.
