All "local" area recruits?? No rankings on any of our guys. No florida kids on the list yet. Lots of BIG men going to other schools.

It was one of the more enjoyable games at the RB in the last three years. It was very cold but the lack of rain, or snow, made it tolerable. I thought the AKRowdies and Band were great last night. They were both noisy all night. I enjoyed the Rowdies storming the field after the game but it seemed they were cheering themselves at the fifty yard line and not the team. Anybody? The majority of the ou team made a b-line for the locker room after the game. I couldn't see where mr. cheap shot was after the game. The home side was fairly sparse. Many of them were the blue hairs some have trouble with when they don't jump up and down. The best part of the game was thinking about the long long long bus ride back to athens. The team was challenged late and were able to keep it together and earn the win. That was their beat third quarter of the season. Let's keep the momentum from this win and finish the year on a strong note. The urinal had a nice article in the paper and the records were correct, but they didn't reorder the team standings as far as record goes.

Mentally Deficient Bob Kitten Fans Say
UADavid replied to Baltimore Bobcat's topic in Akron Zips Football
Because you are a bobcat fan and your school is plagued with serious academic cheating scandals, I'm going to give you the "but he went to ou " pass. What you should know kitten is that last year in an ESPN game at ou, Andre Jones CLEARLY called a fair catch and one of your thug players blasted him. The following week, I think it was Can't, the same thing happen to them by the same player. I don't know if this years incident was by the same player, but this shows a pattern of illegal and dangerous play that the league office should look at. It would appear the coaching staff at ou likes this type of play since it seems to happen quite often. Earlier in the game ou should have been called for another penalty when Dennis Kennedy caught a short kickoff on his knee and still got hit by the same ou thug, #4 from Columbus Brookhaven. I hope UA does pursue this with the MAC commissioner. Finally as to Coach Brookhart's reaction to the play; he was standing up for his player who I'm sure he remembers had the same thing happen to him last year in athens. Same player, same cheap shot from a classless coach and school who couldn't take a knee while down 17 pints, errrr points, with seconds to play. I was going to salute the Zips big win with a drink after the game, but the TANK had already stormed through the bars. So today I toast Frank "the tank" for his lack of class and dirty play. -

As far as the coach is concerned, find somebody with a HEAD coaching resume...whether that is at I-AA or D-II,they ARE out there, especially with a new stadium coming...the AD? try to find somebody old enough to know who the hell Gordon Larson and Jim Dennison are...we have guys who are half MY age, well almost, running multi million dollar prgrams with a multi million dollar stadium coming who haven't found the MEN'S room at the D-I level. Don't tell me that UCONN,Central Florida, South Florida, Buffalo can get solid coaches and win in a reasonable amount of time. Hell OU got the head coach at Nebraska. I'd take my chances with that. Cincinnati got a solid OSU assitant and developed into a winner...What makes you think anyone would want the Akron job at what it pays? Jim Prye (sp?) left Akron after one year as offensive coordinator to go to Illinois and coach tight ends making more money than JD does. A new stadium isn't going to attract people. Tradition, ability to pay good assistants, fan commitment, etc. are better to attract candidates. We have none of those. Based upon what happened to Dennison, Faust and Owens after their time at Akron, the job is a complete dead end.The comment about age is silly. I have 13 employees who report directly to me and all of them are older than I am. Each of them thinks they are smarter than I am and none of them are. Just like Zips Win! points out, these guys have no new ideas and are riding out the string.........some are going to come to the end of the string before they thought they would when I get done in the next couple of months. Every time they try to prove how smart they are, I listen to them and then politely prove them wrong. Any study of any industry shows that the older someone gets, the less likely they are to take a risk. We need a home run hitter to come in here and hit some home runs. If a knucklehead like me can manage a $100,000,000 territory at 38, Mack or someone his age can manage a $10,000,000 Athletic Department. I just have an extra zero at the end of my number.Who is the self promoter? All AD's move up including Mike Thomas. You're the one person not wanting to be promoted? The stadium will attract more people and enable UA to award staff for success. This part of your post I can agree with , but the new stadium is an integral part of being able to accomplish this. Mike did great things for UA during his stay here. Your contempt for Mike W. is childish. Get over it!

Will the beacon plagiarize the article and change a few words here and there.

http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news;_ylt=Aq...e&type=lgnsA bit off topic but toledo put up 70 (812 yards offense) on niu and the local paper was calling for Novak's head two weeks prior to this thrashing. It's a brutal article but still a good read with a mention of Akron. He's been there 11 years with a mediocre 61-66 record. Sound familiar?

Ohio beat BG which helps us but not as much since we couldn't get the job done in Buffalo. This team and staff are just treading water.

These are very valid points. I've been "on the fence" regarding JD, but I'm having a really hard time not slipping into the "let him go" camp. The way I see it, Proenza cannot be pleased at all with the recent resuts, and the prospect of heading into a brand new facility on the heals of three losing seasons (if improvement next year isn't swift and dramatic) has to put a serious crimp into the financial models that are being assumed for construction an operation of the new stadium. Here's somethng to consider. The U of A has never been in, what I would call a "position of strength" when looking for a new head football coach. Today is different What bright, young aspiring coach would NOT be intrigued by the possibilties that will soon be available here? If JD were to be fired, I believe the quality on the list of potential succesors would be a quantum leap ahead of anything we have ever seen here in past searches.Great post. The package available to show prospective coaches would go from lower to top of the conference. The tricky part is picking the right one.

You can't remember what you post. I can understand your frustration not wanting to see them again. Nut up and deal with it. They're all you.

For someone so dimwitted you do seem to spend an inordinate amount of time bad mouthing me. I simply reposted your comments and you have your usual hissy fit. You don't go to the games but have an answer for all that is wrong. You praise the head coach and tear him downtwo weeks later. You are an enigma. When your other personality rereads your post I'm sure he will be embarassed for both of you. You flatter yourself too much. I simply point out how you can't keep your train of thought from week to week. Must be sniffing too much wood preservative. Get out of your hole and get some fresh air. Maybe take in an Akron football game. Then you may be able to comment intelligently about the state of zips football. It's a stretch, but stranger things have happened.

This is coming from a guy who did not see the game, than God, but it looks as if CJ11 started. I agree and said earlier in the year that there are some coaches who would rather be right than win. With out current QB situation, JD would rather be right about CJ11 than win games. In this day and age, it is critical that the QB you put into the game be a winner and make others around him better. The good news for CJ11 is that if he continues to lose, he will join a long line of loserly QBs at Akron. This coming from someone who admittedly doesn't attend the games. I don't know the reason the coach has decided not to play Jackson and no one else on this board does. I'll give the head coach a pass on this till someone can answer that question. There could be a lot more to this than anyone can imagine. To say he's losing games to prove a point is as thoughtless as declaring who is and isn't a winner. Do you have some sort of winner radar to be able to determine those assertions? Jackson brings a strong running potential that Jaq lacks, but that's no guarantee of success on the field. Is "loserly" even a word? Anyone care to guess who posted above? Who would praise the coach one day and rip him a couple of weeks later? Hmmmmm.

Perhaps the rubber bowl will suffer a catastrophic failure and we'll need to play at Ellet H.S. were it will look full!
-
The aftergame coments by JD were weak. No mention of the coaches lapses or poor preparation. He wasn't that concerned with what they did to keep Jabari out of the game. What did we do to get Jabari the ball???? Has this coaching staff ever made good adjustments at the half?
-
I think for me that is the most disappointing thing, and they have 3 games in the next 12 days?!!!It looks like it's going to get worse. I never thought the season would become this dreadful.
-
With a weeks prep time this team was underwhelming in their gameplan, execution, and coaching decisions.
-
Sounds like they were from the start from what you've said.
-
I'm not spinning anything. You think players should be able to break rules and not have to account for them? That's part of life. Could be he hasn't earned playing time in practice. Why don't you ask the coach and report back to ZipsNation. I'd like to know why too, but I'm not hanging the coach for decisions I know nothing about.
-
Awful decision.
-
Discipline is everything with any team sport. I don't know what he's done or said and neither do any of you. I'm not a Jaq apologist, but he didn't drop a td pass when we were still in the game.
-
coaching staff with an extra weeks preparation gets a grade of F from this poster. Pathetic. D was ok, o-line wasn't very good either.
-
Well at least we have that!
