  1. What if the local leader of the OSU Alumni Association called the Aeros and orgainzed this event? Something tells me directing anger at the Aeros or the OSU AA might be misplaced.

As far as the sandwich board, I think it is a great idea. If we are going to pay Tressel $200K per year, let's get some production out of him.

The consequence of taking money from OSU to sponsor such an event in Akron should be negative. We can not let them have their cake and eat it.

Event is created, have fun. http://www.facebook.com/FUAkronAeros

  2. Yeah just saw that. Good for him, bad for me in the prediction department. I have to wonder though if Woolard is just injured or something. Olsen has praised him as the starting LB and he isn't even on the bench for this game. Glad to see Chris get the start though, maybe he can lock down the starting job for good.

He's playing well, the goal the Galaxy scored was the CB's fault. To be fair, it was Robbie Keane that scored.

  3. Thanks Bobbyake for finding the Youtube version of the highlights. With 4 of our pro Zips being with the U23s in Nashville and Zakuani still rehabbing, playing time is down for our former players. I'm sure Zarek would have been in the game with the Impact if he was there.

Zemanski came in during the 2nd half for Chivas, but the goats don't look good again this season...not scoring goals. No Blair Gavin and Mattocks didn't get in for the Whitecaps.

I'll be interested to see if Kris Korb gets on the field with DC today (I hope).

Korb started the last 3 or 4 games for DC last year, and those were important games for their playoff hopes. He should find himself in the starting lineup soon.

Teal Bunbury might be a bench player again this year, CJ Sapong is playing well.

  4. The bleacher seats behind the one or both goals could easily be designated as reserved seating. The grass would be the only GA seating left. They probably want to do it as an excuse to keep the Rowdies from setting up camp under the scoreboard next to families with little kids.

I think it's a mistake to do it this year. We are coming off a disappointing season compared to the previous two. Unless coach Porter goes out and wins an Olympic gold medal, the excitement for Zips soccer will be down a little bit. I hope I'm wrong and we could really use the money that would be generated by selling out the reserved seats again, but I don't feel like the timing is right.

I can't imagine the price difference between the Goal End Reserves and GA will be much different. We're probably looking at $75 again for GA and $85 for RA (Ends).

The problem I see is the RA (Ends) season tickets will sell out, leaving GA for those that don't by season tickets. If you're a RA ticket holder and want to bring friends/family for a game, they're not going to be able to sit with you. That stadium needs more seating to accommodate the casual fans that can only make it to a few games a year..

  5. I would hope they'd only add seating behind the west goal. The Rowdies have turned the east goal into the most intimidating spot in all of American college soccer.

It would probably be the bleachers only. A stadium expansion seems to be off the table right now. Basketball needs a new arena and football plays in an empty new stadium. One of us needs to make a few billions to improve things around here.
