  1. http://www.gozips.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_...0&ATCLID=803262A promotional item was announced that will be given to the first 3,000 fans in attendance Saturday - a Lebron James wall cling. I understand the idea - use Lebron's popularity to draw a big crowd - but at the same time, in a game that the spotlight should be solely on Mr. Joyce and Mr. Travis, who have spent the last four years having to put up with being referred to as "Lebron's former teammates", was this a good move?
  2. Buy your tickets NOW to assure we get as many Zips fans as possible to the game! You can do it one of three ways:1) Go to the Student Union from 12:30-2:30 PM tomorrow and purchase a ticket there2) Go to the Akron Ticket Office in person or order by phone by calling 1-888-99-AKRON or (330) 972-69203) Purchase a ticket through Ticketmaster:Click Here to go directly to the Ticketmaster page

  3. Disagree with your MAC prediction in the blog. I think Can't loses at Ohio on Saturday. That will be a huge game for the Bobcats as they try to stay in the race for a bye in Cleveland. No one wants to have to play Wednesday in Cleveland and look at winning 4 straight games in 4 days which seems nearly impossible and Can't (like Akron) is very vulnerable on the road against decent MAC competition. I'd expect OU to bring their best game and have a huge fan turnout. Tough one for Can't to win. There are a lot of scenerios for the MAC East title and the top 4 seeds in the tourney. I wouldn't bet on it just being the Akron/Can't game that decides the East. Three way tie between Can't, Miami and Akron is possible but the more probable is a Can't/Akron tie at 12-4 and Miami losing at OU to fall to 5 losses. Not sure of the Can't/Akron Tiebreaker ???? Guessing Toledo game factors in. I know - Take care of businees at Can't and none of this matters. That will be a tall order for the Zips with travel to the Pitts and Buffalo during the week. I'd rather beat them in Cleveland anyway when it really matters.SGM - No disrespect, you are a good ZN poster - the blog is good - but why not just cut and paste it over here on Zipsnation rather then making us jump around sites. Jumping sites just seems to stiffles the feedback. No biggie just an opinion.
Thanks for the response...I guess I'm guilty of trying to get you guys to all bookmark the blog and get the word out about the site.
  4. Personally, I think 3 shots is too much. It's a heckuva shot, no doubt about that...but if they were giving three shots all year I have a feeling they would've given out quite a few airline tickets...it's just not nearly as improbable as making it on one shot is, which takes away from the challenge/excitement of it. It's kind of like the dunk contest these days - sure, a sweet dunk is a sweet dunk...but it loses its luster when it's on attempt #3 or #4. Just my opinion...With that said, still a tough shot, so congrats on the make! :thumb:

  5. I know that this topic has been discussed sparsely here and there, but it has never had a dedicated thread to see what everyone thinks. I love KD as much as the next guy, even more than the next guy. However, I am affraid that the success that he is achieving at Akron is only temporarily and due to 2 good classes that were recruited during the Hipsher era.I am terribly disappointed by our underclassmen. Linhart is the only contributor. Conyers, McKnight and Rybak are still unable to contribute anything... and didn't show any improvement whatsoever since the beginning of the season. McNeese and Bardoare redshirted for a reason... that's really scary. Is KD unable to evaluate talent when recruiting ? or is he unable to attract the good talents to Akron ? or may be he does recruit good HS talents but fails to develop them into good college players ?Let's take a look at our competitors. If we consider a contributor as someone who averages more than 12 minutes per game, Akron has only one sophomore contributor compared to:Can't has 2 Fr and 3 So Miami has 1 Fr and 4 SoOhio has 1 Fr and 1 SoBG has 5 SoBuffalo has 2 Fr and 4 SoEMU has 3 Fr and 1 SoWMU has 2 Fr and 4 SoCMU has 4 Fr and 1 SoToledo has 3 SoNIU has 2 Fr and 1 SoBall state has 2 Fr and 2 SoAny thoughts ?
Well let's take a look at the potential players on the team next year:LOCKS (7)--------------------F-Jeremiah WoodF-Quade MilumF-Nate LinhartF-Chris McKnightG-Nick DialsG-Cedrick MiddletonG-Jimmy ConyersHOLDOVERS (5)--------------------G-Nick GoddardF-John RybakG-Jeremy SalleeG-Zach SowersF-Tim CarrollNEWCOMERS (5)--------------------C-Mike BardoG-Steve McNeesF-Steve SwiechF-Brett McKnightG-Ronnie StewardI'm guessing Sowers and Carroll play elsewhere next season. Even so, the Zips would still be forced to redshirt all three incoming freshmen...not what I want to do. Is there really a future here for Sallee and/or Rybak? I'd much rather see two of the three newcomers dress than those two...
