  1. Doesn't matter. 10" in one off-season is impressive.
  2. Seriously?
  3. The late great Charlie Coles.
  4. LOVE the new video board. I wonder if someone from the University was able to get in touch with the person who designed the Q video board. This looks to be a miniature version, and a darn good lookin' one at that. I wonder if the ultimate plan IS to remove the end line ribbon boards, especially on the North end, and extend those seats all the way up? The JAR has a formidable shell for a fun and electric college basketball environment. If this is the path they choose, renovating the JAR instead of going with a new arena, I'm all for it as long as it's done properly. With the Pro Football Hall of Fame project expanding to the new convention center, I don't think it would make sense for the city of Akron to build a multi-purpose arena. I like what I'm seeing so far, and I hope they keep it up!
  5. Akron. Between the tournament (USC guaranteed), Dayton, Marshall, and whomever else we add, it's gonna be a pretty solid OOC schedule for Akron. Two things with Duquesne and their schedule... - Dambrot is now in the A10, which means to get to 20 wins he's gonna need cupcakes in the OOC portion of the season. - We'll see if the "poison" that hindered Akron's Strength of Schedule and ability to schedule tougher teams, is still in Akron, or if it traveled to Pittsburgh.
  6. I see what you did there. Although, in all seriousness, we might see OSUcks on our schedule in years to come. Not sure what the relationship is like between Holtmann and Groce, but there's definitely a history there.
  7. I like it. Another big name on the schedule. Good experience for the young bucks.
  8. He was a Forward.
  9. AWESOME! Might have to make the road trip for this one...
  10. Is there any talk about expanding the NEO Coaches vs. Cancer Classic field? I understand those are the only 4 premier DI schools in NEO, but how many years of switching between CSU and YSU are we going to have to endure? I'd like to see the field expanded to include Wright State and Dayton. I would LOVE to see Cincy, Xavier, and OSUcks get in on the Ohio action, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.
  11. You're gonna have to do better than that. My BS Meter is off the charts with this one. It seems to be in sync with our toxicity level. Or is Duquesne the toxic team now?
  12. So we traded him for their 4-Star recruit Center? I'll take that trade.
  13. Officially offered or not, McDermott said no to something. I'm not saying McDermott is a better choice at all. I don't really care who OSUcks hires from a resume standpoint - I hate that school, hence why I'm posting on an Akron board and find it funny that McDermott said no. It's being talked about because it does affect Akron, especially if Holtmann is hired and we start seeing OSUcks on Akron's schedule.
  14. Yeah, after McDermott told them no. Looks like Holtmann at least played on the same team as Groce, if not graduated with him. Both are 45 and attended Taylor University. Maybe we can finally get OSU on the schedule? If Holtmann is indeed their next head coach, I wish him nothing but good health and failure.
  15. Notice the logo above the "Duquesne Dukes Basketball"?
  16. Definitely something to consider. However, who is out there? OSUcks isn't a desirable job by any means unless you're from the Matta coaching tree or grew up an Suckeyes fan. I don't see any coach at the P5 level leaving their current gig for the Suckeyes gig at this point. They're most likely going to have to target a Mid-Major coach or an unemployed candidate.
  17. Thad had overstayed his welcome at OSU by several years. With that being said, I hope his health improves. As an OSU loather, I'm actually disappointed that they went their separate ways, because he was horrific for the program at this stage of his career. At the same time, I'm glad we snagged Groce so quickly. Being a product of the Matta coaching tree would've made him a favorite I would assume at this stage of the game. Crean is an obvious choice for them, but I want them to slip up on this hire and have to endure another 8 years of mediocrity.
  18. He has a fantastic build - 6'3" 220 lbs. I like how he hits receivers in stride, and seems to place it in the right place where only the receiver can get it. Looks composed in the pocket as well. Interestingly enough, it looks like he was set on going to Butler (tweeted that he will be attending Butler to further his academics and football career on April 24th). The more competition for a position, the better. Best man plays. Period.
  19. My comment was directed towards the relatively slow pace of Dambrot's offenses over the years.
  20. Where is the heart-eyes emoji when you need it? I think I'm in love. By the way, to everyone fretting about this kid's size, DJ Cooper (whom thrived under Groce) was 6' 175 lbs... in boots and soaking wet. Let's see what the kid can do.
  21. Anything around 6' is solid, average height. His body looks like it has some maturing yet to do, so I'm not worried. Get him in a college weight room, and let him go to town. I'm most excited about his selflessness and vision on the hardwood. He looks like a real facilitator.
  22. Canton is working on building up the HoF and surrounding area. The plans for the retired player village will be a HUGE economic boost. They're also aiming to host the NFL Draft in the upcoming years (which is where it should be held EVERY year in my opinion). Nearly every penny they put into the area is well-warranted in my opinion. Not sure Akron would have NEAR the ROI if they built a new arena. Now, if the program starts winning some of these NCAA Tourney games and such, then we'll talk.
