  1. Is it a lack of urgency, or a determination to find the right candidate? Do we know any details on the depth of the search, or is all of this pure speculation based on when Kest was relieved of her duties and the fact that we missed out on a supposedly good coach from Ashland? I'm sure people wanted a coach hired by now so we can save this recruiting class, but hiring the wrong person can be more detrimental to the program than missing out on a singular recruiting class.
  2. It would be a shame if that impact was made while at Akron.
  3. Are those grey unis new? I know we wore grey unis last year, but those look different. I could be wrong. Gueye looks ripped. This is going to be a fun, fun upcoming season. Let's Go Zips!
  4. It could be a situation where Akron is saying, "Show me what you can do," in regards to recruiting. Somewhat of an audition, maybe?
  5. Good quotes from Groce but a very poor article overall. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it fails to mention that Gueye is from the University of South Carolina, Parrish left, and LePear Toles will also be an addition, along with the transfers that sat out last year. With that being said, I am VERY excited for next season.
  6. That was the worst decision of his career. Apparently it is about who you know, because who he knows gave him some atrocious advice.
  7. One of the comments on an article that discussed this said Goldhammer, for how embarrassing he is to the Cleveland fan base, should have to eat the horse crap as a halftime show.
  8. - I think you're in the minority on Patton. He was too underdeveloped for where this program has been and is headed. - Have you watched modern-day basketball? Defense is a thing of the past for a lot of programs/teams. - I don't necessarily hope they were pushed out if they were 100% bought into the program, but I do hope they are replaced with better talent. I think @Captain Kangaroo hit the nail on the head. The transfers - at least in Akron's case - are being use to not only stop any bleeding quickly, but get us back on course to being a strong mid-major.
  9. Caption this photo... "Is that how quickly my hair color can change to grey when I don't win 20 games?!"
  10. That's quite the positive spin to put on this, stating that the layoffs are due to going in a "new direction" and trying to ignore the fact that they upped the fee to make up any differences, which should bite them in the rear end as time goes on.
  11. Here's an updated look at our roster (please correct me if this is incorrect)... 2018-19 Jackson (5-8) Hester (6-3) Roscoe (6-3) Ivey (6-4) Cheese (6-4) Banks (6-5) Utomi (6-6) Toles (6-6) Poke (6-8) Sayles (6-9) Riak (6-10) K-Lac (6-11) Sitting out: Xeryious Williams (6-9) & Khadim Gueye (7-0) 2019-20 Jackson (5-8) Hester (6-3) Roscoe (6-3) Cheese (6-4) Banks (6-5) Utomi (6-6) Toles (6-6) Poke (6-8) Sayles (6-9) Williams (6-9) Riak (6-10) K-Lac (6-11) Gueye (7-0)
  12. Awwww... boo hoo...
  13. I hope he has elbows (no, I'm not calling for cheap shots). I'm sick of these Big Ten schools and Stanford pushing us around, not that we can't overcome that with superior skills - minus Stanford.
  14. So as it stands right now, this thread is irrelevant? I think we're finding out very quickly that off-seasons with Groce will NOT be boring.
  15. Do we not have any scholarships now for 2019?
  16. Rumor has it he didn't play because SC doesn't believe 7' is tall enough to be considered a big man, and he didn't have the dribbling skills to be a PG.
  17. Holy crap. Did we have a scholly left?
  18. Of course the Steelers took Mason Rudolph.
  19. https://www.hudl.com/profile/8420712/ahmed-allen https://www.hudl.com/video/3/8420712/586ffd245cb3fd0b1895a888 Big dude, especially for Akron. 6'3".
  20. This is how I interpreted his posts. I agree its strange, but it sounds like he doesn't feel he's developing under the current coaching staff (I believe he came in under Miller?). 2 years to develop before entering the pro ranks - either the NBA or overseas - is a great option. Here's what I gathered from this article. He likes the words really, develop, and love.
  21. How many more women's sports do we have to add to be able to make men's lacrosse an official DI program?
  22. Yep, but he's going to play for us. Plus, don't think other recruits aren't watching and seeing a Dayton player - who played decent minutes with solid production - transferring to Akron. That helps. Does anyone know who else he was considering?
  23. This is a great point. The spring game (one-handed touch football for the QB) really isn't the best arena for Kato to showcase and grow his abilities.
