Any idea why he's not traveling with team? Injury? Coach's Decision?

Akron recruit Humpty Hutchins playing in State Semi's
Marty McFly replied to Marty McFly's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Yes, Hutchins was 1st team D-2, Sullivan 2nd D-1. Andrew Parrish from Dayton Northmont didnt even make special mention/honorable mention - Nothing. Anyone know what's up with him? Bad season? Injury? Overrated by Zips coaching staff? Those 3 are only Ohio recruits. -
Thursday, March 13 at 2 pm, #2 Chillicothe will play #1 Poland Seminary in the Div 2 State Semifinals. Chillicothe is led by UA recruit Humpty Hutchins, who scored 27 points in their 71-49 Regional final win over Byesville Meadowbrook. The game (along with all of the 16 state semifinals and finals) will be shown live on Sportstime Ohio. So if you are not going the Q Thursday to watch Akron, you can check out that game, too.If they win, which will be a tall order b/c from what I hear, Poland is awesome, they would play Saturday at 10:45 am (again, live in STO).Good luck Humpty!!!!Which brings me to another questions, will the Rowdies come up with the dance next year for him, and call it....wait for it....The Humpty Dance????

He was down in the corner of Akron's lockerroom door.I remember growing up that my dad and I would go down to Columbus for the state high school tourney every for like 4 or 5 straight years. Not only saw some great games, but also some good road trip memories with my dad.

FYI Darell Roberts was 0-4 with 4 turnovers, I don't think he should be out there in this kind of game just yet.Not saying that his stats were awesome, by any means. What I am saying is that he was one of the only ones pentrating and taking it the Can't. The other hardly ever drove in past the 3 point line.

For those that can't go up Thursday, just checked and Fox Sports Ohio is showing all 4 games on Thursday, and both semi's on Friday night. ESPN2 will have the champ game Sat at 7 pm.Glad that I put in for that half day a month ago. Working until noon on Thursday, picking up the Mrs. McFly and heading north!

I think that it call comes down to the fact that for 37-38 minutes, Can't State totally outplayed Akron. The last 2-3 minutes were totally Akron, and had the Zips won, they would have had NO business winning this game.I agree with the comment about McNees, he is still learning how to handle the point, especially in big game situations, but at a cost this year.Correct me if I am wrong, but Linhart and Quade played, right? For seniors, they did a whole lot of nothing when they were out there.Starting to like D Roberts more and more every game. During that first half of sloppiness and timidness, he seemed to be one of the lone Zips actually taking at Can't.Seemed to me like Akron couldnt handle the physicalness of Can't's defense. The tone was set early when the refs let BOTH teams play, and Akron, in my opnion, couldn't handle it, got frustrated and forced THEMSELVES to stay outside and force up bad shots, thus leading to a terrible shooting percentage. Can't's guards are quick, and you would think that somewhere along the way, KD would have figured out that the high pick at the top of the keys WASN'T WORKING.Even more classy than Can't students chanting senior night intro's was them chanting towards the end of the National Anthem. UGH!Love the guy emcee guy. It was hard not to get pumped up there at the end, with the Akron rally, him and The Final Countdown being played. All in all, I think Can't came ready to play, and for the excception of them letting their guard for the last 2 minutes, they deserved to win. No if, ands or buts about it.But I also think that they have a tougher road to Saturday night than we do!!!

I want to correct myself....Right now, Eastern Mich is beating Northern by about 20, meaning that they would finish 8-8, and with Central losing to Toledo by 6 with just under to go, they could finish 8-8. I just looked and Eastern holds tiebreaker with their win over Western Michigan. So, if that happens - Central losing/Eastern winning. Eastern jumps to the #6 seed
-
Central Michigan needed both Ohio and Miami to lose, and right now, Miami is beating up on BG. That means that CMU as sealed up the #6 seed.If Ohio wins, they are #4 seed, Miami #5. Assuming that Miami beats BG (they are up 18 with 5 min to go), they could move to the #4 seed with an OU loss. The #11 seed is still up in the air. As of right now, Northern Illinois (3-11) is #11, Buffalo is #12 (3-12). An NIU win OR Buffalo lose gives them the #11 seed. Only way that Buffalo could move from #12 to #11 would be a win over Ohio, coupled with an NIU win at Eastern Michigan. Both games are at 2 pm.That being said, looks like Akron's quarterfinal match up will be against two of the four teams that beat them in MAC play. Central beat the Zips 65-64 on Jan. 26, while Northern beat Akron 88-78 on Feb. 12.Does this concern anyone?

Cutting away from the Can't-Akron football was a decision by WEWS. FSN is usually pretty good about showing things in their entirity, and then catching games/shows in progress.

Chillicothe ExAdvances to the Elite Eight
Marty McFly replied to GoZips's topic in Akron Zips Basketball Recruiting
IF Chillicothe advances to the Final 4, SportsTime Ohio is showing all state games live, meaning Humpty would be on at 2 pm Thursday, playing winner of #1 Poland Seminary-Clev Benedictine game. Here is the linkhttp://www.sportstimeohio.com/highSchool.phpTo my knowledge, he is only bball recruit still playing in Ohio (?). Alex Sullivan's Painesville Riverside lost a few weeks ago -
Tickets wont be distrubuted until Thursday at the Univ of Akron will call table, if you are ordering them thru the Zips. I just called the ticket office, and girl told me didnt matter if I ordered today or Wednesday for my seat location.

MU, OU and CMU all have the same record. If Miami beats BGSU and OU knocks off Buffalo, OU is the four, Miami is the five and CMU is the six (MU and OU both beat CMU this year). If I had my prefernce, I'd rather see it shake out that way and have all of tough East foes on one side away from us. While CMU did beat us it was at their place and I think we'd like another shot at them. I'd rather not play a team three times unless its the championship. Plus Western is no pushover. Since we're guaranteed the three seed, any way it works out is fine. At least we have the bye and are away from Can't so we can just have fun beating them with no tournament implications on the line. Here's to being the MAC East Co-champs!This is from Elton's MAC Report on how the 4th-5th-6th seeds (and maybe 7th-8th) breakdownCMU would need a win at home over Toledo combined with Miami and Ohio losses. Miami (home to Bowling Green), needs a win and an Ohio loss. Ohio (home to Buffalo) just needs to win.In a worst-case scenario, if those three teams plus Bowling Green (13-15, 7-8) and Eastern Michigan (12-16, 7-8) all wind up 8-8 to end the season, the MAC will need an abacus to break a five-way tiebreaker for the No. 4 seed.http://blog.cleveland.com/sports/2008/03/m...insider_10.html

Anyone else notice how the headline is "Can't State Game at UA is Sold Out." Way to go leakin' urinal.they are a garbage paper, hopefully one day we can live in a Akron without crappy agenda filled news....and hey, anyone got 1 extra ticket that i could buy off them for Sunday? I have one idiot friend who didn't get his ticket even though i reminded him every day for 2 weeks. He will pay for it....and a student ticket would do even.i wasn't a journalism major but the heading was Can't State vs UA and that would be grammatically correct. while if the heading was Can't vs Akron then they would have flipped it. true the abj isn't that great but they have increased their coverage of UA over the past 3-5 years. hey, it's a start. Heh. Yeah, but I was referring to how the paper calls it the "K-E-N-T State game."Slow day around zipsnation.org I see? haha

I agree. I had to study the picture to notice the changes, which doesn't look a lot different than current, from what I recall when I was up there last month.
