  1. Something, though, has to be done. Even if no one on earth realistically believes WMU is one of the top 4 teams in the country, the fact that they are a D-1 school & went undefeated means they should make the playoff & have a chance at the national championship. Again, I know WMU's not a Top 4 team, but that's irrelevant. An undefeated D-I school should be in, no matter what conference they belong to. Otherwise, why call them D-I?
  2. Were you're ears burning, you self-loathing rat bastard?
  3. Miwee posted this to twitter last night. Couldn't find anything else on twitter about who it might be. Another QB obviously.
  4. So, I believe what he's trying to communicate is that Sayles had three dunks. lol
  5. In 2010 we slept on Larry Nance Jr. (and Darius Carter ) and offered Cleveland-area products Tree & Nick Harney. Tree turned out to be one of my all-time favorite Zips, but whiffing on both Nance Jr. & Carter still makes me break out in a cold sweat. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Let's not make the same mistake twice. Sound good? Great! Then I'm starting a thread for 2018 SF/PF Pete Nance. We can't let Pete climb the fence & get out of our backyard. If Pete is anything like his brother, he'd be proud to wear Akron on his chest, as Larry Jr. used to post pics to twitter of him wearing Zips gear even while he played for Wyoming. It's amazing to me how articulate Pete is. He interviews like he's a 35-year old man! Obviously highly intelligent. Lends credibility to the fact people say he's got the proverbial "high basketball I.Q."
  6. Good for them and good for the MAC. Congrats, Kant.
  7. Throwback. East HC Marques Hayes
  8. I was blessed to be able to see Jemarulin Suggs, Marquise Bridges and Todd Sibley all play a couple times this year, but IMO this guy has the potential to be better than all of them.
  9. As noted above, we seem to think our primary need is for another big next year, but, here is perhaps a different perspective to consider... Poke is almost a zero offensive threat. he's a hustle guy, plain & simple; athletic but w/ not a single offensive move down low. Big Mike is gonna be a good one but doesn't seem nearly as offensive-minded as Big Dog. 2017 PF Jayden Sayles looks to be a recruit with a lot of potential, but at this point doesn't look like he's going to be immediate help on the offensive end of the floor next year, as he's averaging a good-not-great 13 PPG. Bottom line: in losing Big Dog we're not going to be able to play inside-out next season. We're not going to be able to count on one of our bigs demanding a double-team to kick it out to one of our unathletic 3-point specialist guards. So maybe we should be looking for another guard who can create his own shot? Put LePear Toles out there with 'Tino & Ivey & we'd have a pretty athletic back court to compensate for what's going to be a less offensive-minded front court. Here's an article about LePear in prep school. The article states he currently has one scholarship offer... from Rice. I still think he'd look good wearing the blue & gold. (Btw, he stands 6-6, so it's not like he's a typical Akron undersized guard.)
  10. Did a quick Google search & couldn't find anything. Idk where you could locate information like that online.
  11. Csonka definitely went to Stow. My dad used to tell me about playing against him in high school.
  12. How is it that WMU was able to schedule winnable OOC B1G games against Northwestern and Illinois while we got Wisky? Here's a Hustle Belt article about Old Dominion's "road map" to success. "Instead of the body bag games for a payday, they scheduled regional games on a 2-for-1 against teams like Virginia Tech, NC State, North Carolina, and Wake Forest." I like that strategy. Or at least quit scheduling games where we're simply lambs to the slaughter. Schedule more along the lines of Western Michigan, who played winnable B1G games this year against Northwestern and Illinois, while we played Wisconsin. Next year we play at Penn State and the following year we play at Nebraska. Two very difficult places to play. We are, however, set up for success in 2019, where our OOC schedule is presently @ Illinois, and then at home -vs- Troy and UAB. That's more like it. But we don't have a WMU-type yellow brick road to glory till then.
  13. Exactly. If we would have played early in the year we would have won. Late in the year? YSU would've gotten the W. I with they'd just buck up & come here to play without expecting a return game. We're not going to play a D-IAA on the road even if they win the I-AA national championship. The more rivalry games we have the better. We've already got two good rivalry games with Kant & Ohio (I wish we'd cultivate more of a rivalry w/ Toledo as they seem like another natural one). YSU would give us 3 good rivalry games per year. I guess I'm looking... searching... scouring... wishing for anything to help attendance. Edit: And... on the other hand, YSU & any of the Top 15 1-AA teams are pretty tough & maybe I'd rather just play a 1-AA cupcake & get the easy W towards bowl eligibility.
  14. The football recruiting page is what got me hooked on ZN.o... I'd say over 10 years ago now. Amen, and amen. Go Zips!
  15. +1. Thanks for posting, 94zipgrad!
  16. Our D was an absolute abomination this year, and the last couple games our QB was a 3rd-string WR. The above stat sounds about right.
  17. ^^That is one freaking awesome trophy.
