Rachel Wirts is a player I'm wondering about. She was offered by Melissa as a soph., pretty sure her first D1 offer. She's still following our (new) coaches on Twitter, has an offer from Tulsa. Not sure if any others, but she's getting good press on the AAU circuit.  Anyone know how many open scholarships we have available currently?

Coach Gensler is also following her.

Any chance to observe the redshirt freshmen OL #54 Tyhler Williams or #56 Keylen Davis?

You asked some good questions that we should watch for next week. You also mentioned these 👆two players whom I'm anxious to watch next week.

Other players I want to take note of next week include:

    OL's Colin Lyons & Jourden Hale-Frater

DT's Kiwan Murphy & Terray Jones (assuming he's practicing), and

    CB's Devonte Golden-Nelson & Joey Hunter (assuming they're practicing)

We also had a glimmer of hope when Bowden took the Zips to Boise and beat Utah State for the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. That was a sweet game and we had hope, which went to the gutter until Joe arrived.

You're correct.  How'd I omit that?  Okay, two good years in my lifetime 😭

Wow. Baseball, Men’s Soccer, and Swimming & Diving raised more money than football. Can’t say I saw that coming. Weight room seems a bit of an afterthought.

We Zips football fans have been beaten down and dragged through the mud for... really our entire lives.  There was a one-year respite in 2005 but then we fizzled again after that. And we haven't just been sub .500, we've been absolutely abysmal. Most folks around town think you're nuts if you're a Zips football fan.

But in Coach JoeMo we trust.

A glimmer of hope: In 2005 we won the MAC East, won the MAC Championship Game in Detroit, and then a few weeks later ~30,000 Zips fans drove back up to Detroit for the Motor City Bowl.  So... hope springs eternal.

    Still need a point guard

Agreed. You never want to rely on a freshman PG.

Having said that, I remember Coach Jackson remarking a number of times how she liked incoming freshman PG Olivia Brown of Fishers, IN.

This is from a GoZips dot com press release:

JACKSON ON BROWN – "From Day One, Olivia was our No. 1 point guard in the 2023 class. She is an outstanding leader and winner in everything she does. Olivia is an elite defender with a motor and tremendous speed. She is a great floor general who can really run a team. A candidate for Miss Indiana, Olivia can also score the ball with great ability to get to the rim."

I am on the fence on this one.  I still remember the one Butler game I watched where he punched a guy on a break away and was called for a flagrant foul.  I also recall a couple of techs he had when he played for Akron.  I would only take him if he could play immediately, no other recruits have his talent and he really want to come here.

@LZIp, that last sentence is saying:

“I would only take him if:

    1. He could play immediately

    2. No other recruits have his talent, and

    3. He really wants to come here.”

  8. I've currently got one window open to ZN.o while I'm taking on online American Red Cross course in another.  With the football and basketball transfer portals, this is the most fun ZN.o's been this time of year in... well, forever.

Add baseball, softball, and women's basketball... I'd better pay more attention to my Red Cross course 😂
