It's funny how some folks are turning their noses up at a potential to clinch a berth to the NIT. Are these the same folks that complain that Dambrot hasn't "grown" the program enough? You want POST SEASON for your guys. Sure, you're nuts if you want the NIT berth more than the tournament championship and bid to the Big Dance, but really? You'd want to pass an opportunity to beat up a mediocre "big boy"? And it's right, this team is not GREAT but they are quite good. Can you tell me that if they Zips put up a solid 40 minutes of their best play that they couldn't pull a first round upset? If so, I don't want you to be a fan of my team. They've given us plenty of reason for optimism, plenty of reason to expect a MAC regular season and tournament Championship, and most of all a reason to be proud of our school.I am really troubled by some of what I read here. The NIT used to be the biggie. The stuff of Bill Bradley. Today it is not. SO WHAT!!!!!To distain an NIT bid for a team like AKRON is just stupid. We ARE NOT a high major. We are really NOT a high mid-major.We are blessed (?) this year to play in an awful league. The MAC West is the doormat for the East. And we have taken full advantage of that fact, bringing in a GREAT conference season! In fact, K-ENT loses just one more game and we don't necessarily even need to win Friday! Too many of you seem to forget that the NIT changed the rules after the Travis-Joyce snub to give an auto bid to a conference winner. After a controversy that made it all the way to the New York Times (Dambrots association with Lebron helped get it there for sure). So how many teams get to the dance? 64 plus the play ins?How many to the NIT?That's all folks, basically everyone else goes home. Play hard, beat K-ENT and put the NIT bid in your pocket. If you win the tourney, GREAT, on to one and done in the big Dance.Personally, I would be GLAD to see the Zips in the NIT again. It is still a feather in their cap to get there. And remember, this is NOT a great team. It's a good team, in a conference where 1/2 the conference had a horrible year. The opportunity to play for the conference championship may not come again for a long time. Seize the opportunityGO ZIPS -
Yep, the usual suspects are out in full force. I'm starting to think some of these regulars on here have double screen names so they can post as the negaholics on Ohio.comIt's a good schedule. 'Cuse sucks, very winnable at home plus breaking in a freshman QB. 1AA guarantees a win. Kentucky and Indiana are BEATABLE. Kentucky is a middle range BCS and Indiana is a bottom feeder of the Big T(elev)en. You have to give yourself the opportunity to knock off a big boy. Some of you would rather have 1 chance a year to make some noise. There is NO reason this team shouldn't consistently be winning 5-6 MAC games, and do you think you're going to build a fan base by beating Middle Tennessee, Troy and Eastern Kentucky? There was a buzz after the NCState win. You've got to catch lightning in a bottle, not fart around with an extra session of crappy MAC-level teams.Look at the bright side, we have 6 home games. There are 5 MAC schools that have only 5 home games (Miami,BG, CMU,EMU,& NIU) Also, people are complaining about 2 weeknight game, when in reality it is just the Miami game (Wed. night) that is a true weeknight game. The Buffalo game is the Friday after Thanksgiving, so there should be plenty of people attending. This is a tough schedule, but I think some of you are making a mountain out of a mole hill. -
Here's the drought...HUGE disparity in fouls.

Good showing of Zips fans here. I'm in general admission behind the majority of them and WOW. We're much louder than even the home crowd. Amazing shot by Mclanahan. Polk is a handful but SLOOOOWW!

Chiilin in section O. No video or stats? Wow.

Props to the original poster...but to those headed up to BG tomorrow (like yours truly)...http://www.discoverneo.com/presclub/pdf/bgsu.pdf

This is classless. I had a problem when the Rowdies did it last year, seems it's gone away this yr. Let's keep it that way. Having nothing to do with the performer, it's still disrespectful to the USA

headed up with at least two. looks like we'll have a decent contingent.
-
As long as they can say more than "aboot" and "eh?" I'm ok with them being here. Maybe the newly silent Ak-Rowdies will actually make somr noise? Last couple games they've sucked, especially OU.

I think VCU will find itself a VERY average team once Larry Sanders is gone, similar to the step back they've taken after Maynor left, only worse. Larry Sanders altered that game the way Zeke has altered some MAC games and will alter all games in the future. Our guys were pulling up for 10ft jumpers instead of driving to the hole, being intimidated from 10 feet away. I can see Akron being in the same boat in a few years after they begin to depend on Zeke as the enforcer in the middle. We're not there yet, but we will be.EDIT: In no way am I saying that VCU is not the better team here, but take a look at those stats. To me it seems the Zips were more intimidated at the environment. That could be more of a problem for us than anything. Shooting 30% from the field, 20% from 3-land, and leaving 8 points at the line is not this teams usual. If we hit near our averages, and we were getting PLENTY of good looks, and the Zips are right in this game all 40 minutes instead of for about 3 of them.

Bowling Green.
Bus to where?Does anyone know if there's extra space for fans on the Rowdies bus as there has been in the past? I was thinking of making the drive +1, but obviously would rather have a bus ride. -
HILARIOUS quotes from Coach Dambrot in the post game about getting up for competition whether it's VCU, MAC, "Our Lady of the Elms or the Jewish Center."
Love ya, coach. Keep the wins comin! -

That is exactly right. HUGE win in the conference. Revenge on Buffalo and another win @BG and we're primed for a showdown!
agreed...if i was correct, wasn't Miami(OH) undefeated at home in MAC play before tonight?
That's OK. They held serve at home and we stole another one on the road in the MAC East.OH WELL...LOOKS LIKE Can't STATE IS GOING TO HOLD ON... -
Doubters? This team is good.
-
This could turn out very well for the Zips, or very poor. It'll be decided at the buzzer, perhaps in both games that matter.
-
Why do that when you could pass around the perimeter for 25 seconds and then chuck up a 3? Oh, and Roberts re-sprained his ankle. Not good.
Only way to break the drought is to drive to the hoop. And now for the long 2nd half drought... -

There was a rumor the game would be broadcast on ONN, from what I can tell that is not true according to the Oxford television listings. Radio it is...Channelsurfing.net only works if there is a feed to begin with. I don't know if Miami even broadcasts their games. -
We could also watch South Carolina Upstate @ Campbell. Seriously? I certainly hope a link for this game pops up there...Ohio at Can't has been added to channelsurfing.net.
-
Any word on TV for this in the Akron area? No listing on channelsurfing.net...

I think this is an accurate assessment of what the score SHOULD be. It's hilarious reading over some of the posts @ Miamihawktalk.com. Many of their fans seem to have memory issues with a 20 point loss @ the JAR about a month ago as well as losing to mediocre BG team on the road. I like Akron in this one, but not to top 70...Akron 67Miami 62The last 4 years @ Miami -2006: Miami 63 / Akron 60 2008: Akron 56 / Miami 522007: Miami 64 / Akron 62 (OT)2009: Miami 64 / Akron 51 (OT) - Getting out-scored by 13 in OT, while only scoring 51 points in an OT game is a real oddityZips 71 Miami 63Chris McKnight is starting to hit "Romeo Travis Mode," elevating his game as the conclusion of his senior season draws nearer. Road Warrior Zips break out after several consecutive close shaves. Steve McNees charges like a bull when he sees those red jerseys. -
I think I read in the gozips.com archives that last year's schedule was released on March 23rd. We've got a ways to go...

Ok...so you folks want less BCS, less d1AA, and no midling beatable CUSA teams like Marshall. I think we're running out of options. Unless you think MTSU or EKU would draw more. Sheesh.

The problem is the exclusiveness of the area. The ushers are like nazis looking for bands to get in. Check IDs, let all students in, and once it's packed every game, discuss expansion and selectivity
