  1. You know, I might rustle some feathers with what I'm about to post, but it's just my opinion. If I'm the AD, I'm telling Dambrot his seat is getting a little warm. Don't get me wrong, I was happy with the win, but let's face it, his coaching has been subpar for a stretch now, and it's happened 2 years in a row. Yes, players make mistakes that coaches can't control, and yes, coaches make mistakes, but I'm not seeing any learning from the mistakes. For 4 years we've had pretty much the same game plan. Teams are starting to figure out how to stop us. It doesn't look like Dambrot is adapting. For example, we finally started to press against Toledo, but then we stop because it's working. Plus, it seems to me that we continue to ignore the one thing that can win a game: putting the ball in the basket. Again, Dambrot preaches defense, which is a good thing to a point, but I think he's ignored the shooting aspect of the game a little bit. Also, is it just me or is Dambrot starting to coach like Charlie Coles? Has our offense started to slow down like Miami's does? I'm not sure if it's because of our lack of athleticism, or the coaching. If I was coaching, I would press a lot more than we do. I'd throw Zeke on the inbounder and put Jimmy at the safety position. Put Nik, Drob, and Humpty on the rest, then trap. This way we may get more turnovers, which leads to more points, which leads to a win. Again, these are just my observations and opinions. Great win though for the Zips. STRONG OT. We cooled down a very hot team, but now hopefully they are mad and take it out on Can't State. Come on BSUcks and let's go Zips! BEAT CMU!
Hands down, post of the year. Keith Dambrot's seat is like sitting on a block of ice. The guy is 17-7 and in 2nd place in the conference. On the way to his 5th straight 20-win season in 6 years, and has the program on course to have a good chance to win it's second consecutive (and 2nd overall) MAC tournament championship. Don't forget, this team isn't made up of stars. This team is made up of a lot of guys that other schools weren't going to offer scholarships too. If we were consistently bringing in guys as heralded as Zeke and we didn't begin to see complete domination of the conference, I might be inclined to agree with you just a tiny bit. The bottom line is that Keith Dambrot is taking this program to heights not seen since the days of Huggy stalking the sidelines. I'm not going to be nasty and biting as a lot of people on here can be, as I'm in a line of work where I'm forced to respect other peoples' opinions. Just know that you are in the VAST minority if you think anyone associated with the program would even have the thought cross his mind to relieve Dambrot. He's nearly as untouchable as Coach Porter.
  2. No foul when that kid from Ball State lowered his shoulder into Nick? Wow.
    Mactastic
Surprised they didn't give a foul to Nik right there. It'd be about fitting of the classic "really bad call at a critical time" that MAC officials seem to make in every close game.
  3. Why are Akron games like this? And I don't mean just basketball, it seems we almost ALWAYS have weak second halves. I'd love to see the foot on the floor the entire game. Don't play to "not lose," play to win, play the same until there's two minutes left if you've got a big lead. Hopefully this changes in football with Coach Ianello and crew. It's just frustrating to watch.
Did some stat research, I guess it's those Zips colored glasses: We're 4-4-1 in 2nd halves in MAC play, and 14-7-2 overall.

  5. I'm trying to get people together to go watch this somewhere since the weather has taken a turn for the worst and i wont be making the trip. It's down to the Barley House or Tap House.
No cable TV, might have to head to Barley House to watch the game. It's not listed on channelsurfing.net
  6. Good news...it's official(according to Mike Rasor):9/4/10 vs. Syracuse9/11/10 vs. Gardner-Webb9/18/10 at Kentucky9/25/10 at Indianahttp://www.ohiomm.com/blogs/zips/2010/02/4833/
four winnable games to start the season? I like it.
Who are we replacing UK with so that we have 4 winnable games, or did we get permission to play 15 on 11? :puke:
Kentucky is the poster child for mediocre "Big 6" "Just get bowl-eligible" teams. They haven't finished above .500 in the SEC in the last decade, and have won more than 7 games exactly twice in the 2000s (8, twice). Are they as bad as they used to be? Nah. But hardly a powerhouse imposibility.Syracuse sucks (no offense TexanMark). Sure, they beat us last year, but that is an absolute winnable game at home. We'll likely even be favored to win that one.Gardener Webb should be in the same neighborhood as the Morgan State game this year.Indiana is also awful. Yes, I know we lost to them too, but this is an IDEAL "turn heads" schedule. If Ianello and co. turn around and run an offense/defense that actually allows for a chance to win (read: no sideways pass or incredibly slow developing draw plays and no 3-3-5), we could set up for a 4-0 non conference. Am I saying we'll win these games? NO. But what's a better chance? A trip to Penn State, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Connecticut, Cincinnati etc. or jetting off to Kentucky or Indiana? Build confidence THIS year, use it next year for a gauntlet of a non-conference @ OSU and Cinci.
  7. Cuse fan here...I'm hearing we are now going to open up at your place on Sept 4th as opposed to Sept 18th. Can you guys confirm?
I would be ecstatic if that's the case...but odds are we won't hear anything from athletics about a permanent football schedule until March. Anyone have some inside info?
  8. There is a webcast on UB's athletic site, but you need Realplayer installed to watch it. Installing that pos isn't worth it to me, so I'll be listening to French on 1350AM.
I'll be uninstalling it as soon as the game is complete.
I had video with no audio...now nothing. Not sure if it's the stream or the player...
