I agree with your assessment of CB and always have held the same opinion.

K E N T looked better in the Temple game than I saw them in about 10 games last season. I think they are flat out a better team without Holt. D Jackson looked terrific for them. Stevie Taylor can play, no doubt about it. OU will still be a dangerous team but they can't match us inside and neither can K E N T

38 minutes between Betancourt and Evans and zero assists. I can't ever remember any teams two true point guards going without an assist. That says it all.

Under 15 TO's and we have a good shot, any more than that and we are toast. If I'm Randy Bennett I come out and pressure the ball to see how unsettled the Zips are at the point. I do not like this match up at this point of the season. I will be up at 3 AM to see it though and hope for the best.

He's in, no doubt about it. I was pretty excited about the addition of Forsythe when the news came out he was coming in from W Va.. I maintained that attitude through the first half of the schedule. However, after that period his stock dropped steadily in my opinion. I thought it became quite apparent why he was not a fit for Huggins or any other Big East team. I believe I'm not the only person that shares that opinion and at this point we must consider another option to get a good chunk of minutes at the 5 spot. I'd love to see both Big Dog and KC get plenty of playing time right now. Not likely I'm sure, but one can hope

Cheatham must play. That is all

The sad thing is that they play each other so somebody is going to get a W. I hear they are running a special promo at U Mass. Any fan of the 743 in attendance that actually stays awake for the full 60 minutes of play gets a Cadillac.

I remember it like yesterday because it's probably one the greatest games at any level that I ever attended. The sight of watching the Herd O line carrying Leftwich downfield to take the next snap was simply amazing and something that you and I will never see again. Another thing that made it great was that the Marshall fan base traveled like a big ten team to support the Herd to just about anywhere. I believe the crowd was split close to 50/50 that night. There was green everywhere so to see the Zips play over their heads that night was incredible. Fantastic game that nobody saw coming

Q adds an entire new dimension to this team. Big, big, big addition to the '13-'14 Zips

[quote name='Blue & Gold' date='Apr 18 2013, 08:02 AM' post='203447' Best seats in the house: Blake Justice, Deji Ibitayo I actually prefer to be about 5 or 6 rows up in the lower bowl. Better vision of the entire floor. Enough joking... I'm afraid that your assessment of Deji may well be correct. Remember last season, fairly early on, when Deji went for double digits and looked really good out there ? As I recall he had an amazing shot block as well when it seemed half his body was above the rim. I remember getting pretty excited and thought that this kid is starting to get it. Sadly, that was just about it, he just failed to move forward and become a consistent contributor in the Akron backcourt. The real shame of this, provided he doesn't significantly improve, is that he's truly an amazing athlete that has more possible potential than most we have seen Keith bring in. In Deji I think Keith recruited a great athlete that may become a solid player rather than a solid player who would become a great athlete. I just read that last sentence and it sounds kinda' stupid, just hope it makes some sense to somebody. Got the season ticket letter in todays mail. The smell of basketball is in the air, never really leaves our house. Have a great summer everybody, I'll likely return in October.

ding, ding, ding we have a winner. And what do we have for him Johnny ?? At last, I have found somebody who gets it.

Kretzer may play that role in very limited minutes but if he's a power forward then You can now call me Mr. President. He is a three and that's all he is. He better get a little more consistent with that corner jumper because that is his true value to the team , that and having a nose for the ball on the other end of the floor. As far as Evans goes, he does make us a little quicker in our backcourt which has been a serious weakness going back to the day Mr. Ced Middleton hung up the sneakers. There may be others that have slipped my mind but Ced and Hollingsworth were the only two really quick guys in the backcourt that we've had in 10 freaking years. Now I want to see a two guard that can run, shoot and defend as well. Ask Keith what our team could have done with VCU's guards last season. Their defensive presence alone would have been amazing.

Have you got up yet?? You OK ??

Marla Ridenour on Future of Zips
The Hip Zip replied to Blue & Gold's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
I'll say it again. if we wish to think bigger and beyond the MAC we must get much quicker at the 1-2-3 spots. Hey, I think it's great that we have some 6'7" wings that can shoot it well. That will win us a lot of MAC games but it won't cut it vs a top 30 type team that has quick, athletic guard play. Having Q back would be one step forward to achieving this. What we really need is a quicker point that gets into the paint. -
Well, we still have the lady Rockets. BG still alive as well I think

Is that not the beauty of the interweb?? -
Well, since we are not in the sweet 16 , he has failed to properly prepare the team for the VCU game and the tourney in general. joking....
-
If Shaka goes to Minny he's nuts. Sometimes it's best to be the big fish in the smaller pond, especially with the $$$ that VCU has ponied up.
-
Quite simply, if we wish to compete at a higher level then we must get much quicker in the backcourt.
-
Wow, I almost forgot how fun it could be to watch basketball. These guys play fast, they play loose and they truly play as a team. They just always seem to know where their guys are at, where they are going and how to finish plays. They are in constant motion on offense and quite an athletic bunch to boot. As a former player, I would have loved to play for that coach. Just one senior on their roster as well so look out next season.

A lot of interesting perceptions on last nights fiasco, some on the money and some not so much. In ref to the VCU/Mich game, I give the advantage to VCU despite the location of the game. I think that Mich is exactly the kind of team that the Rams match up pretty well with. Yes, Michigan does have guard play but I think you need more than just solid guard play to beat VCU. Mich is pretty soft inside and will lack the ability to take advantage of VCU's lack of height. VCU's guards will get after their guards like there is no tomorrow and Shaka > JB . I gladly take the 3' with VCU and enjoy their victory.
-
Did it occur to you at all that other than Zeke and Tree nobody else on the floor for the Zips tonight would receive any meaningful playing time for VCU? And to say that this is not true is bullshit. No offense to our guys but the difference in athleticism between our guards and wing guys to theirs was simply mind blowing. Tonight you saw the difference between a very good A10 team vs a very good MAC team rolling on 3 wheels. To say we were outcoached tonight is absurd.

Zeke made his statement to a TV sports guy as he was boarding the bus. Not sure which one, one of the Cleve stations. i don't believe it made the printed media so sorry Dave, I can't link . I'll try to do better next time.
-
Zeke guarantees a victory over VCU. He went on to say that they are in our way. Oh my !
-
I thought about last years game some more and and actually Serb helped bring the ball up as well. It took the pressure off of our guards and he had decent ball skills.
