  1. There are at least a couple of ways to look at their situation. 1. They get a shot at living the dream of being a professional sports team owner. Feel good story if the 1 in a billion gazillion shot pays off. 2. They provide another real world example of how to part a fool from his money.
  2. I see your point. I guess everything is good then. Never mind.
  3. Fortunately for you I won't take you up on your safe bet! Is Akron Fulton Airport still operational? If so, stadium lights placed in their normal position would still constitute a flight hazard just as it would have when the University bought the Rubber Bowl from the city. Odds of getting permission to stick lights up dangerously close to one of the airports flight paths.........slim and none (and slim just left town).
  4. Gladly, but first I need to hear L's answer.
  5. Yes, I read the article. Do you know why the view-blocking lights are located where they are?
  6. Tom Izzo did take his team down to play Wright State several years ago because he had a Dayton area kid on the MSU squad. That way, Izzo reasoned, the Dayton locals could watch the home town boy in person. MSU lost the game so Izzo might not be in a hurry to pursue the same strategy again. However, as I have suggested on this board before, if one were to track Akron area high schoolers that made it to big time programs, Akron could contact the big time programs and suggest a one and one series that would give the big time program a chance for their Akron area players to perform in front of their home town buds. Not likely to result in a bunch of games, but could land an occasional gem.
  7. Don't get your hopes up sucks. Someone is sure to use "barn-burner" in a post at some point later this year and ace you out of the award.
  8. WOW, I wonder if your interpretation is correct. There is absolutely no way I could have come up with it.
  9. So Bill and Sean "carry themselves with quiet confidence," and a dangerous lack of local knowledge. "The duo has many other upgrades in mind. The oddly placed lights that restricted so many views over the years will be removed." No problem if all your events are scheduled during daylight. Otherwise, good luck on that.
  10. OK seriously; someone interpret this sentence for me.
  11. This was not insignificant 84. Excellent analysis! I've heard Wolf likes to run in a pack and odds are Traylor-Bennett does too, just as long as he is behind someone.
  12. I have to agree with the OU fan who suggested that Tree should be the conference POY.
  13. In dual meets this year most opponents, in an attempt not to embarrass us, forfeited all their points in the last several events which allowed the lady Zips to rack up those points. Unfortunately, this ain't gonna happen at the conference championships and things could get ugly for our female tankers. If you are planning on attending be sure to take some light clothes. It gets dang warm in there.
  14. IF the Zips can win out, I think a 10 seed is highly probable. If not, I'm thinking a #13 at-large seed.
  15. I was disappointed that he had no steals or blocked shots against OU.
  16. Three things..... Watched the MAC web cast which used the OU commentators. What a pair. If you didn't watch the webcast you probably don't realize that OU only committed about one foul the whole game. Kretzer have any shot as league newcomer of the year? At this point, I like Akron's shot at an at large bid. Hope they don't need it, but think they will get one if they do.
  17. AH! The light begins to break.
  18. Go Zips. Beat Ohio U.
  19. I knew it. All you guys who said he hung on the rim for a second are wrong. He didn't hang on the rim at all. He got T'ed for releasing kinetic energy.
  20. WE'RE # 32 (& 27)!! as of 2/25/13
  21. Bless your heart. At your suggestion I have obtained my application
  22. Who said you weren't a Zips fan? Let's do a little wager. Let's have as many D1 refs as you want review the play. I'll give you $100 for each one that says it shouldn't have resulted in a T, you give me $100 for everyone that says it was a violation of the rule.
  23. I was watching the game. You all appeared exuberant. Much as it saddens me to sadden you, I would have to agree that the T was a legitimate call. Only a flaming flamer would call a Zips fan who has an opinion different than their own a flamer and no Zips fan.
  24. The T on Zeke was well-deserved as no one was below him when he jumped and nobody forced him to run so fast to the bucket that he couldn't control his jump. I thought AA did a good job of getting his man overconfident by letting him dribble by him possession after possession. Good crowd. Pretty entertaining game. Go Zips.
