  1. I can't. The University can't. I'm sorry to hear that. Given the track record of the University, to which funeral home should I send your flowers? You were a good man. We will miss you.
  2. +1 Listening to the announcers, I believe this is what they said about all four teams WSU has beaten on the road: 1) St Cloud St hadn't lost a home game in 15 games 2) Nebraska-Kearney hadn't lost a home game in over 2 years 3) Defending national champion Minn-Duluth hadn't lost a home game in 17 or 18 games? 4) Winston-Salem was, of course, previously undefeated Wow! Have they mentioned that it's Division 2...it's kind of important I don't think they did. They also failed to mention the day of the week or the relative humidity.
  3. Jim Dennison was dumped for Faust because the tradition of Dennison really isn't something we should strive to achieve, and he wasn't the guy to take Akron to the next level. In Dennison's last six years at Akron, they were in the OVC. Three of those six years, they finished .500 or below. Never once did they win the conference. Never once did he win ANY conference championship at Akron. In those six years he won 55% of his conference games and had the exact same winning percentage overall. At best, he was slightly better than Lee Owens. The Dennison adoration that goes on around Akron has always confused me. The facts don't support the claims of greatness. I never say too much about it because by most accounts, he is a good guy. I would much rather have a winning coach (I don't mean in the 55% range either...aim higher) than a good guy. Given the performance of the Zips since Dennison was canned, I could live with aiming low. An 80-62-2 overall record and bowl eligibility by today's standards in 9 of 13 years (despite only playing an 11 game regular season in each of those 13 years).
  4. Yes, Z already has 1 rebound.
  5. Looks like a pretty good sized crowd. 27-27
  6. Its working fine here. 26-25 Zips
  7. 9 pm practices followed by 8 am meetings!!!!!!! You are an animal!!!! Which walk-on should we set up for the fall? Absolutely. The football team used to have 8 PM Friday spring practices in order to keep players from going out so they could have 8AM practice on Saturday. Players don't get into trouble at noon, they get into trouble at midnight. They can sleep all day and recover if they want, but I would make it impossble for them to go out at night. Keeping players out of trouble by making their lives miserable is good for preparation. This team needs to get their act together and be prepared for MAC play in January. Christmas season is a great time to get them ready as a gift to the fans for this horrible start. In addition, KD2.0 could scare them. Google "bull durham scare them" and watch the video. It leaves the part out where Crash tells the manager to yell at them because they are kids, but it gets the point across. Remember, it isn't open to walk-ons...an easily replaceable scholarship player could get the boot as well. Pick any guy that isn't in the top eight of minutes played. Next screw up gets a one-way ticket out of town. The Shining might be more scarey.

  9. I'll go with more Zips tradition:Gordon Larson. http://www.peekyou.com/gordon_larson
  10. You beat Zipmeister to the punch! No he didn't. Zipmeister understands satire when he reads it. I don't care if it's the second or third Tuesday of next week; I am looking forward to the PW era.
  11. We were also the most right-handed team in the country.
  12. I don't think the candidates with current jobs would appreciate being on an announced short list. Either way we need to move faster as we are getting passed every day in the coaching carousel. I strongly disagree. It's better to wait a few days or weeks to make the right hire than to be hasty and get the wrong person. The former is the only way to break the vicious cycle whereas the latter costs us years and a lot of money. The wise thing to do is be patient and make the right move whether that be days or a couple weeks from now. In the short-term, this program is not going to be very good regardless of what kind of class is brought in this year. But what if we're waiting only because of a technicality? We can't really talk to Winters until he is done coaching. But what if, in the mean time, we're just twiddling our thumbs waiting for him to finish his season and not seriously looking at any candidates? What if we're not making a full effort to evaluate other candidates during the time we're forced to wait? Why can't we really talk to him until he's done coaching? Can we kind of talk to him sooner? Who is forcing us to wait?
  13. Yes I do and I understand he attended a recent men's basketball game.
  14. Positive sign that this guy is good enough to play major DI ball.
  15. Smart money says get 8 to take the Zips. I say the Zips win by 14.
  16. I'm pretty sure it won't help, but you might read the article at http://www.mentalfloss.com/blogs/archives/78756
  17. OK Dave, I accept your apology. When you told us about your troubled youth I probably should have just left it alone. And to show I have turned over a new leaf, I will not comment on your lack of basketball prowess.
  18. There are even Fortune 500 companies that will hire people with this kind of background, but normally they are limited to lower level positions. Please cut it out. There is no background. He is not convicted of anything. There is a recent case in NY you might have seen on Youtube. A worker in McDonalds beat the living hell out of two women. The media chose only to show the portion where he was beating them with a metal rod: one got a fractured skull. The good old liberal media *forgot* to show the part where the two female savages jumped over the counter and attacked him! He was arrested and charged with many assault counts. We got word yesterday that the Grand Jury REFUSED TO INDICT HIM FOR ANYTHING, and he was cut loose. The point being, some folks here have him convicted and imprisoned based on what they read in the newspapers. Give it a rest and let the process play out. I beg to differ. If you carefully read his post (I have bolded and underlined the appropriate words) you will see that Dave admits this this type of behavior IS in his background. You don't pay close attention, do you? The only undeniable behavior I've acknowledged is that he was an underage person in a bar at 2 a.m. The rest is all allegation. It's inappropriate for Zips fans to subject a Zips player to a kangaroo court. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black! Please reread everything in this series of posts. PLUS I will rewrite my last post to make it even MORE CLEAR. I beg to differ. If you carefully read his post (I have bolded and underlined the appropriate words) you will see that Dave admits that this type of behavior IS in DAVE's background. You need work on your writing skills, then, as "his" is clearly ambiguous within the context that you used it. In any case, I'm pleased to see that your focus is on me and not Tree. Tree doesn't need the added aggravation of Zips fans getting down on him, and I'm always flattered to receive attention, even if only from the occasional oddball fan. I'm thinking your reading skills could use a tad more work than my writing skills. The subject of the sentence with which you are having difficulty is "Dave," and (as is normally the case) the adjective "his" refers to the subject. Subsequently, I modified the sentence, substituting the possessive noun "Dave's" for the adjective to make the sentence more understandable for anyone who doesn't pay close attention. At no point in this dialog did I make any reference to any current student-athlete.

  21. I sure hope with the change in coaching staff that we don't lose any of the 4 stars that icoach lined up for us.
  22. A really good sub-title for this thread would have been.... Putting the cart before the horse.
