  1. Speaking of criminal activity and Animal House, is the Lone Star fraternity still at Akron?
  2. Need your prediction on a related topic. How big a bribe would the fire marshall have to receive to let 6,700 in to watch the game? Give two answers, one based on us being 4-0 in the MAC at game time, the other assuming we arec 3-1. My guesses: $12,000 and $7,500.
  3. Ah there's the rub. I don't have Dave's numbers in front of me, but I'm pretty sure being from a non-power conference drops the probability of a bid very very very close to ZERO.
  4. If you describe the odor I'll try and help you decide.
  5. Glad to see that Skip wouldn't use my example to say that Gerry coached at a low college level. Neither would I. I still contend that high school football is at a lower level than college football regardless if the best high school team could beat the worst college team (the idea of Moeller beating Wayne State was humorous). The criteria I commented on was suggested by Quick (I think), who wrote one of his three criteria for a new Akron coach was "proven ability to win at a lower level." That's at a LOWER LEVEL, not at a low college level.
  6. I used to see icoach at all the rifle home matches. Let's see when bcoach does that.
  7. OK, where did you get my second grade picture from?
  8. Personally I have not, but on numerous occasions when he went out of town I would bump into Laura.
  9. P.S. Stop playing soft.
  10. Odds are now good the extended Bowden family 2012 Christmas gathering will be held in Akron.
  11. Having carefully read the entire article it is apparent that they have moved the Stroh Center away from BG.
  12. Now seriously, what are school lies and why would a school offer them to a prospective athlete?
  13.
  14. YES!! We beat out St. Josephs for Mr. Turner's services.
  15. Miami has a deadly combination going for them this season. They play ugly and they are not very good.
  16. Jerseys, helmets, pants, garbage! Why isn't anybody discussing socks? Socks are what players today are really interested in.
  17. 3 or 4 wins and I'll be real happy. Let's say we get twice as good as we were last year and all our opponents stay the same. List the 3 or 4 teams we are going to beat.
  18. A concern I have is Zeke's lack of rebounding. Zero in 31 minutes! With the same playing time Tree would have had double digit boards. Doesn't look good to get out-rebounded by our guards, again. Still a very good night for the Zips.
  19. I may have mentioned before that one of the worst things about being a college football or basketball coach is that you have to be good at convincing kids who don't belong in college to come to yours. I think we finally have someone who is going to be really good at that. I'm psyched. Let the good times roll.
  20. Well at least we can agree that writing "will make Chuck Amato a better football coach" is different than "I'd guess it would be positive rather than negative." Yes, good hire.
  21. Here is exactly what you wrote: "So if anything, having been sick will make Chuck Amato a better football coach." There is little doubt spending some time in a hospital bed might change one's perspective on life and maybe help turn that individual into a better person, but will it make that individual a better (or worse, or no different) doctor, coach, accountant, or garbage collector? In Chuck's case we will be able to answer this only after we see how he does post illness. If it were the case that surviving such an illness did guarantee improved coaching, it would definitely be an SEC team that conducted the clinic.
  22. How come?
  23. I actually think the jab fit pretty good with your assertion that cancer would make him a better coach.
  24. I've heard rumors that one of the SEC schools holds a coaching clinic where they expose the attendees to a variety of life threatening maladies to sharpen their coaching skills.
  25. Yes he could have, but he didn't.
