Flemming would appear to be a nice fit at Rover if we continue to run the 3-3-5.

I understand. It would be interesting to get Air Force on the schedule or another game with Navy (although Navy may not want to play us as we came back to beat them with Brandon Payne and that loss seemed to shoot down their program that year - ala our North Carolina State win).Just for the record, Army beat us under Faust 20-0 in the fastest game I have ever watched - @1 Hour and fifteen minutes. They ran a wishbone and we could not get the ball back. The clock just ticked without end as they methodically ran at us for first downs. We stopped the big run, but they threw two touchdown passes over our defense as we brought almost everyone up (Junko was the Defensive Coordinator). Prior to that game they had thrown @2 passes all year.

To get UTEP here at home this year we could have allowed their coach (Mike Price?) to take a pick axe to the Rubber Bowl's visitors lockeroom as long as we could stage Zippy beating up their mascot soon thereafter. For those of you that don't know, Price runs his team (the Miners) out on the field and then lays claim on the turf by sinking a pick axe in the field. Great way to fire up his team (and the opponents).

No disrespect to you Bleecher Bum, as I remember you at the Can't away game two years ago as the last man standing with our flag in the Endzone, but I went to the Army game this Summer and had a great time. The Cleveland air show was fantastic and there was beer/brats on mall 'C'. I'd like to play a Service Academy every year (too bad the Patriot game idea was cancelled). They are very competitive with the MAC (Army kicked has us around a couple a times in recent memory) and it wasn't too long ago that a game with a Service Academy was impossible. I love the tradition and prestige that Army has, and I like the tough young men that they put on the field. To me, a win over Army means something despite their rank in Saragrin. Now I have more of problem scheduling Wisconsin. Does anybody remember how they stole a win from us up at Camp Rippoff a few years ago? Hendry was in for the go ahead fourth and inches score late in the fourth quarter and they didn't give it to us. Screw Wisconsin. I would put them last on my scheduling targets, but this new AD probably does not even bother to research the history of the outcomes of our previous games. Why not schedule UTEP? Did our AD burn bridges with his old employer or what? The rest of the schedule (excluding Wisconsin) looks very interesting, but difficult due to the road venues.

I'd like to see more UA football alums that have exibited the traits valued for coaching be offered Grad Assistant positions. Let them spend time here and maybe move on and come back when we need them. Do we have anybody out there now besides Winters that can help? I'm certainly not advocating getting rid of JD, but he does need some new blood (preferably Blue and Gold) on his staff.

Enjoyed watching this game. The team looked good on the field and on the sidelines. The Old Rubber Bowl showed her age, but didn't look embarrassing. The ESPN team seemed to be freezing in the booth.A couple of observations: 1) Cecchetti is playing well with little recognition - unsung hero award 2) Big Nate, Sewell, and Lively are solid 3) Dixon and Pace are a liability in the secondary - they need to step it up against Miami if they play 4) Linebackers are a force 5) Can Kennedy step in at receiver? Brandon Williams and Patterson are not working out 6) We finally got the ball to Fuqua and our Tight Ends, which I think was a key to the game, besides Bryan Williams running (Allen's too) and return game. 7) O Line looked good 8) Igor is tuned in 9) QB - our guy looked better than Ohio's QB - step in the right direction Now if we could get one in Oxford. I still remember two games with 60 something to nothing scores at halftime down there during the 1990's. They ran it up on us and then many Miami players wouldn't shake hands with Akron after the games. I hope this 2007 Akron team hears a bit about those games before next week.

In addition to having a poor line (3 different centers, a tackle went nuts, ect...), and three offensive coordinators, the browns did not have edwards and winslow, most of the time, while Charlie was playing. Both Anderson and Frye struggled prior to this year due to numerous problems with the entire shit-streaks organization. They needed to unload a QB to cure the QB controversy when they picked up pretty boy and Frye got knifed in the back. They should have picked up a nose guard or some other need rather than quinn. Frye would be winning now too. Great organization... I hope they move again. Go Steelers!

Well, I've heard of a 'run and shoot' offense, but I've never seen the 'run for your life' offense that we ran on Friday night. We do have a good group to rebuild with next year. I'm excited to see the transfer from Iowa play on defense. Pound the weights, and recruit. Finally, I would like to see some UA blood brought back into this coaching staff. I'd also like to see a little more succession planning when it comes time to fill football coaching positions and I'd like to see the next AD be an Akron grad. Sounds like the beginning of a Zip's Christmas list.

Can Akron can get our receivers (including T/E's, & backs) other than Jabari the ball, and will we allow the QB some leeway to tuck and run, unless the clock is about to run out, rather than throw it away? If so, we could win. You know our running game will be good enough. Our Defense and Special teams will also play good enough to win, but will they be inspired by a determined gutsy Offense that plays to win (the swager we're all looking for). It should be time to go all in. Empty all guns, retrieve some respect and win, or go down shooting. Akron 24 (If we have a decent Offensive game plan) BG 21Akron 13 (If we restrict our Offense and if someone other than Jabari or Brian Williams don't step up) BG 31

My additions:Offense: The loss of three quality receivers in 2007 has been too much to overcome. Jabari is doubled and Williams is keyed on, which has left us misfiring. Line will be a strength going forward. Defense: Has played pretty good. If our offense could move the ball less points would have been put up on us this year. Next year we look like we will be good again on D, but we will lose some skill. Should CJ7 move to defensive back in 2008 if he does not make it at QB? I think he should consider this move as this may be his best shot at a professional football career and Akron may need help in the secondary in 2008. Special Teams: We are in good shape here, finally.Recruiting: Past mistakes on questionable student athletes are haunting us. It will take two years to recover. Brookhart knows now not to gamble on so many kids with questionable grades going forward. Who should Akron target for 2008 - Eric Magnacca out of Massilon Perry. He has speed and toughness. OSU wants him as a safety, but maybe he wants to run the ball. His Dad is an Akron grad. We need several quality tailbacks recruited for the 2009 season.Coaching: Stay with JD, but we need a coordinator to work with this offense.

Hey, these tips all sound like fun true blue. Now I was thinking that it may be fun too to castrate a bull outside your stadium prior to the game as part of our pre-game festivities. Do you know any ranches or farms in your area that may be able to help out?Go Akron.

For those of you traveling to Buffalo, I recommend dinner at the Anchor Bar in downtown. This is the origin of Buffalo wings. Get an order of the hot wings and a side of their chicken alfredo with a pint or two. The game, a trip to the Falls , wings, beer, and the peak leaf color should make for a nice weekend.

We've got a throw-back to the old NFL days in Mackey. Which is he more like Larry Wilson or Ray Nitchke?
-
I don't doubt you heard it, but I think the radio comment is a load of manure from a worthless nut. More disrespect I suspect.

It would be even better to have a shot at beating them. Imagine Lou Holtz on ESPN, the conundrum of Gerry Faust, and the terror of all those ND fans. Now that would be party time. It's a long shot though as ND will have to beat either Boston College or USC and then run the table to be bowl eligible.

20 years I've followed this team... ever since Division IA status. My worst last second memory - The Arkansas State fumbleooski play (illegal now?) at the Rubber Bowl during the Faust Era. Your right - we are tough at home (#10 V-Tech, late 1990's, is a good example) and we are building for something big over the next few years. As for our miracle (don't forget the Navy win) Zips this year, I'd love to see Akron play Notre Dame in International Bowl, if we don't go all the way to Detroit.
-
Next year, CJ7 may have to move back to DB to get on the field.
-
My hat off to Andre Jones in particular who could of been on the bench nursing an injury. After questioning the heart of this team after last week, this team, unquestionably, was the most determined and heroic team on Saturday.

I taped the UCONN game to watch Sat. night. Unimaginative offense and a defense that lacked effort late (example - Grant missed tackle on a 60 yard UCONN touchdown gallop). Very difficult to watch as we should have been very competitive or beat this team. The key to this game came after the second half opening interception by Akron. We needed to move the ball and score after the turnover and we went three and out (a bad penalty call may have helped). All momentun was lost and the game spiraled out of control. Now as we turn to the MAC schedule down the stretch, I wonder: will our offense develop any plays that are a surprise to our opponents and will our defense play with heart (including playing on a bum ankle).

Does anyone know if Big Nate and Schepp are ready tp go for the UCONN game?
