  1. Of course I'd prefer the NCAA Tourney, but the NIT is a good tournament. Best of all, the Zips get to keep playing...more playing time, more experience against good teams.
  2. Awesome! Thanks Yaz. I got chills watching that...U-S-A! U-S-A!
  3. Am I missing something in the following? I don't think Livingston got this right. Ohio's upset of Georgetown in 2010 the league's lone NCAA Tournament victory since 2003. The Bobcats were seeded ninth for the tournament that year, although they had the league's third-highest RPI (Ratings Percentage Index), meaning aficionados knew Ohio was a dangerous team. Such a team would have to play three more MAC Tournament games to reach the semis under the new format. This year a team seeded lower than #4 has to win 5 games to win the MAC Tournament. Previously, such a team had to win 4 games. That's only a 1 game difference. Where does he get 3 additional games just to reach the semi-finals?
  4. Add me to the list. CONGRATULATIONS ZIPS MEN'S BASKETBALL! Great regular season. On to the MAC Tourney.
  5. Thanks for that link Yaznasty. Great interview...fun. I was fortunate enough to find a link to watch the game (after I got home from the JAR). It was fun listening to Caleb shout out instructions from the sideline. I was waiting the hear him yell "Perry!..."
  6. Nice 2-0 win by US U23's over Mexico in a friendly in Frisco, TX. Valentin, Sarkodie, and Kitchen played the entire match. Bunbury came on during 2nd half. Agudelo and Diskerud (Adu assist) scored in the first half. http://www.ussoccer.com/News/U-23-MNT/2012...Mexico-2-0.aspx
  7. Perhaps you should read the article. It's about WBB, not MBB. The Lady Zips play Buffalo tomorrow.
  8. Except for the EMU game, the Zips have been not been playing to their potential since the K ent game. It's okay against lesser teams, but not ORU and OU. Coaches and players better find a way to put it together, or it could be a HUGE embarrassment losing the MAC Regular Season Championship / Tournament #1 seed at this point.
  9. I wouldn't worry too much. They still don't even know how to spell Souders.
  10. FC Dallas loses to 9 man US U23s, Brek Shea ejected Kofi also was ejected after 2 yellow cards, but Caleb Porter's U23 side still prevailed!
  11. +1 Where's our Zips who won at Mississippi State?
  12. You have to see Ben's shoes to get the full effect.
  13. An article from WVU's student newspaper: http://www.thedaonline.com/sports/men-s-so...0907?MMode=true
  14. I saw that, too. I didn't like the way LeBron left Cleveland (Cavaliers fans didn't deserve that), but I'm okay with his attending any Zips' games. I'd hope that he might help us out in whatever way he can with replacing the JAR in the near future.
  15. Xavier and Pitt have released their Spring schedules (officially confirming the matches with the Zips): http://www.goxavier.com/sports/m-soccer/sp.../020612aaa.html http://www.pittsburghpanthers.com/sports/m.../020912aaa.html
  16. KD told French during post-game interview that Luke was just going to be a manager, and he was happy to get him some playing time.
  17. I'm not sure if anyone has posted anything about this team before, but I noticed that some former Zips (Matt Dagilis, Michael Balogun, Stefan Ostergren) are playing for the Ohio Vortex, an indoor team in Canton. http://www.ohiovortex.org I believe the head coach also played for the Zips. I used to enjoy going to Canton Invaders and Cleveland Force games. I never made it to a Cleveland Crunch game. It might be fun to go to either of the remaining Vortex home games.
  18. Here is the Spring Mens Soccer Schedule: April 6th vs. Pittsburgh 7:30pm Akron, OH April 7th vs. Colgate 7:30pm Akron, OH April 14th vs. Cleveland St 7:30 pm Akron, OH April 21st vs. Xavier 7:00pm Cincinnati, OH April 28th vs. Wright St 7:00pm Akron, OH 4 of 5 matches at home is sweet.
  19. Happy Birthday to you and Steve.
  20. It's not teeth gnashing and complaining to want more when you know there's more to be had. I'm ecstatic that our Zips are 9-1 in the MAC and in sole possession of the top spot in the MAC, 1 game ahead of Buffalo and 2 games ahead of others. However, I want to see signs of this team really coming together to do better than any other D-1 Zips team has done in March. They're capable of making a run deep into the NCAA Tournament, but they're not showing it. Perhaps I'm asking too soon and should just wait until March. However, I would remind them that it doesn't just happen. It takes effort and hard work. This is Akron and we shouldn't just be satisfied with being best in the MAC. GO ZIPS!
  21. I agree with your points, but our team still doesn't seem to be playing up to their potential, and they're about 2/3 of the way through the MAC part of the schedule. They should be playing more consistently by now. I can't help but think of a quote from the movie "The Express" (movie about Ernie Davis)...If you practice half-@ss, then you'll play half-@ss. If that what's happening with the Zips, then KD and staff need to find a way to correct it. I know this team is greater than they showed us last night; we've seen it from them.
  22. The game at OU last year was on a Tuesday night; so, I would have expected a small turnout of Zips fans. When it was on Saturday (Feb 25th) this season, I was considering going (hoping for an afternoon game time), but the move to Sunday night nixed it for me like some of the others.
  23. I believe the point is ASK for a wristband and you will receive one. Try it. If you ask and are denied, then perhaps you should send an e-mail to Tom Wistrcill, Dan Satter, or Dr. Proenza (or all 3).
  24. I don't know what you were watching, but the Zips started the game 6-6 on free throws through the first 12.5 minutes (definitely not garbage time). I was thinking that they must have really worked on their free throw shooting. Then they went cold before picking it up again late. Check the play-by-play on gozips.com
