Michigan State - first regular season road game
Zip_ME87 replied to TennZip's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
Great posts. Fun ride home last night from a very successful road trip and happy celebration with our guys. We always get homered by the ref at MSU. We deserved many of our fouls but they were not called the same on Sparty. Love the depth on this team, their teamwork, and seeing the fight in these Zips in the face of adversity. Nice to see Tobias Bak's cheering section...a handful of friends must have made the drive from Muskegon CC...nice!!! On to the next one at home...Let's Go!!! -
2021 Fall Zips Men's Soccer Schedule

I like this team. I’ve met all but one of them now and will meet the remaining 2021 recruit tomorrow night. I challenge them to put ‘21 up on our NCAA Tournament banner. We haven’t had a year there since ‘18. I want to be with our team in Cary, NC in December 2021. Go Zips!!! -

I took it differently, Zipmeister, as far as the elite program comment when I read it. Now that you point out how you read it, I'd say the words are confusing, and now I'm unsure what Clayton really meant to say. I'm happy the new AD reached out to him.

Olympian Clayton Murphy Sets His Sights on Gold in Tokyo and Reuniting with Akron ...While Murphy says there's been no movement on restoring the relationship, Akron's new athletic director, Charles Guthrie, has reached out to Murphy's team and hopes to arrange a meeting either before or after the Tokyo games. "I'm for sure willing to come back to the table and see what we can do about mending things with the university and make things right, because I think there's for sure an opportunity to continue to grow a program. It's hard to kind of deny that Akron isn't an elite program in the country and to continue to put limitations on it or take away support is just completely disappointing and shouldn't happen," Murphy said. ...

I watched. There was an outstanding crowd of Marshall fans at the final. Great support for the Herd. Cary, NC is not a bad drive from Huntington, WV (5 to 6 hours). -
No one mentioned this transfer previously because the TDS Transfer Tracker was very recently updated to include that information. I've been watching but it hadn't been posted previously. Appears TDS just updated within the last day or so. https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-articles/2021-ncaa-mens-transfer-tracker_aid48768

Oh, believe me, I know how special Akron Men's Soccer is. By the way, congratulations on Marshall winning the National Championship this Spring. I was cheering for you. Attending the Marshall-Akron match at Marshall in 2019 and the match at Akron this Spring, I realized how good Marshall had become. Akron's College Cups 1986 Runner up to Duke 2009 Runner up to Virginia (Akron gave up 0 goals in the NCAA Tourney) 2010 National Champions 2015 2017 2018 Runner up to Maryland I've been fortunate to attend all but the 1986 College Cup. 2 Hermann Trophy winners (Teal Bunbury, Darlington Nagbe) Numerous pro players, including 1 in EPL Several USMNT players; 1 in the 2014 World Cup -

@BigGreenTruck I, too, wish Akron could join Conference USA for men's soccer. Unfortunate that Akron football is so bad, or perhaps we could join Conference USA as a full member. Also, please note, Akron's last NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament appearance was 2018, not 2019. However, 2018 was the last in a string of appearances that dates back to 2007. 5 College Cup appearances since 2009. -
2021 Zips soccer recruits

Thanks @Blue & Gold for posting that tweet / interview. Some notable items to me... Danny Strachan and Carlo Ritaccio in the middle of the back Retooling the midfield with some new guys coming in Up top ... Diogo [Pacheco], Jason Shokalook, Dyson Clapier + some new guys ... leads me to believe that Will Jackson may be moving to fullback as we saw him play well in the Spring. Happy that Danny Strachan, Diogo Pacheco, Hazem Sobhy, and Will Meyer are getting an extra season due to NCAA adding 1 season eligibility for seniors due to COVID As @zippypitt mentioned, 'lots of home games this Fall' ... I like the sound of that, too! -
