  1. Can't worry about seeding. Just win Tuesday. Also, I believe that the win today gives them 20 wins. A 20-win season is quite an accomplishment.
  2. Does anybody have a .gif or a vid of McCrea punching Kretzer?
  3. They also only have 4,100 students.
  4. Or, to be more general, low seating angles are horrid. Combine that with two-story high walls behind the seats propping up the roof and you have a horrible place to watch a basketball game and one that detracts from any efforts at having a noisy, intimidating environment.
  5. It looks cavernous. Compare that to Boise's arena which seats more but feels more intimate. The design is more important than the overall capacity. Multiple levels, stacked inward (not outward with a walkway like the JAR) moves the crowd in and reduces the open-air feeling that you get with the MAC's larger arenas. Look at Ohio's arena or Ball State's.
  6. My mistake. I thought you were comparing them with Bowling Green.
  7. Can't State, while having a lower RPI, has a much better record, which is actually what determines 66% of the boost to our own RPI score when we play them.
  8. Good find. I think they won't have any problem finding other tenants with the amount of foot traffic that Chipotle will bring.
  9. The "subs" is most definitely Penn Station. The sub sandwich market around campus is over-saturated, with two Subways, Penn Station, Hanini's, and Jimmy Johns. Almost all other forms of food are under-represented. I wonder if Kinkos would make the move. Actually, aren't they a FedEx store now? Maybe a UPS store will move in to compete.
  10. I wouldn't count out it being Qdoba. I wouldn't even mind if it was.
  11. Do you have any idea how many people live around here that love to pretend that they live anywhere but here?
  12. If he was going for shock value for the PD's average reader, he would have said that Akron would win.
  13. Actually, it sounds like a great option if we had a larger basketball arena and the JAR was used for Volleyball and hosting non-athletic events.
  14. I think the Rowdies should pay them a visit if their bus gets to Buffalo earlier than planned on Saturday.
  15. There need to be decks/tiers. When done properly (i.e. the opposite of the JAR, with the second deck overhanging the first instead of a walkway setting it back) it creates a big-time feel to the place and moves the upper seats closer to the court than they would be in a single-tier seating arrangement. It also creates a natural place to put luxury suites. Think the Q with the nosebleed deck removed.
  16. The "big wall" look is awful. It's like a high school gym.
  17. A moment with Jim Tressel talking about Chardon and also the Zips.
  18. This team is really, really young.
  19. Man, Eff You, Bo Boroski.
  20. I think Ohio is screwed even more. His officiating style favors road teams, especially when the crowd is rowdy.
  21. I think 12,000 is the sweet spot. The issues with the larger arenas in the MAC is that they have an "open" feeling. Look up pictures of Ohio's arena or Ball State's. They have an airy feeling to them. Compare that to Boise's arena, which is larger, but feels more intimate. You can also hide the upper level for Boise's arena, and open it up for larger events.
  22. I really like Boise State's arena. It's basically a miniature Quicken Loans Arena. Seats 12.5k and would cost around $45m to build. The Q has set the standard for what basketball arenas in the area should be like. I get that it's an NBA arena, but a scaled down version would work great. It is the place people have in mind when they want to watch big games in the MAC thanks to the MAC Tournament. A lot of regional college basketball fans have only ever seen an Akron game played there. We can capture that expectation.
  23. I thought we already played at Miami.
  24. I'm fine with that. The Mayflower, if it can be rehabbed into a nice downtown apartment building focused on UA students and younger professionals, would be the best thing to happen to downtown since they moved the bus station away.
  25. No photo, but I believe the building in question is Shrank Hall North.
